LOL at "I'm not really a cannibal"

Mars, what a damn shame! Take comfort, it must have happened for a reason.....

I didn't have the g&t, I had fish fingers instead

Chopster · 15/06/2007 08:20

elifay, that is really interesting to hear. MY exh was a twin, but they looked nothing alike, so people never realised they were twins. Did you read in the paper about the 80 year old triplets?
Oh and those twins on BB, I can't believe they managed to trick boyfriends. They don't even look that much alike! Some people just don't look.
Which reminds me, (waffling now!) preschool keep getting the dts mixed up when naming work, and it is getting a bit annoying now. Anyone else had problems? the dts know who has done a picture, but they are named wrong half the time. Yesterday I had to pop in to change a nappy and saw Akshay making a father's day card which later came home with Love From Ravi inside.

Mars, get those driving lessons going again! What happened there?

Chopster · 15/06/2007 08:21

ooogs, the dts are gorgeous! Want!

They look so sweet and innocent. Then they grow up and paint the sofa with tipex.

Harrogatemum · 15/06/2007 08:32

am I too late to bring in the cheese...........? Been back at work for two days (3 days a week) so not been around at all!

Chopster · 15/06/2007 08:35

hows it going hm? Are you enjoying it?

tkband3 · 15/06/2007 09:13

Phew - better night last night. Thanks for all kind words and support. had to go and babysit for a friend whilst she went to her parent's evening at school last night, so OH got the screaming at bedtime while I watched lots of crap early evening telly for the first time in years! Anthea Turner, perfect housewife - what's that all about .

Mars, can't believe you missed your shakespeare. You must be so fed up.

HM, was thinking of you on Wednesday. Hope being back at work went ok.

Ooogs - lovely babies, all gorgeous and cuddly.

Chopster, our nursery keep muddling my two up as well. I think they just ask DD1 who is who most of the time. But last week they made crowns and Edie came home wearing the one marked Maia and vice versa - they were adamant they were wearing the right ones though so it was obviously the nursery that got them mixed up. It's annoying me a bit, cos they don't seem to be making any effort to find out who's who - I'm tempted to offer to make badges or something till they get it sorted! But they are getting so much out of it - their speech is dramatically improved since they started for one thing.

Chopster · 15/06/2007 09:25

glad you had a better night tkband. I've noticed a huge improvement in speech too. Rav was runnign aroudn this morning shouting 'Coming, ready or not!'

Harrogatemum · 15/06/2007 10:33

well it wasnt bad.....I've done two full days and it was pretty exhausting getting up so early to get me and 3 kids ready to be at nursery at 8 but DH helped! I did feel bad when I picked them up at 6 and they were hte only kids left at nursery but it is only 2 of the 3 days (my mum is having them the other day, god help her!!)

I will see how it goes after a month, its all a bit new and strange again to start with.

inamuckingfuddle · 15/06/2007 11:07

I know how you feel HM, we do it 3 days a week, MIL has them the other day at the mo but that involves DH dropping them off adn for some reason it is far harder to do this than it is for me to drop them at nursery It takes a bit of getting used to adn I think is easier at this time of year with lighter mornings (and all the nice sunshine )

frumpygrumpy · 15/06/2007 14:54

Hi HM, good for you, it might take a while to settle into a new routine but it will get there. I had to get into a strict routine when DD1 started school and I had to begin getting her and the DTs out the door everyday and on time (big challenge that one, I'm the one that will be late for my own funeral). I now look like I am an obsessed freak show as I have everything (and I mean everything) laid out where it needs to be the night before.

I have toothbrushes in the downstairs loo, shoes at the door, schoolbag in the car, packed lunch in the fridge, keys at the last point of exit, coats at the door, brushes and school hair stuff on the worktop, breakfast table set to DD1 can pour milk for the DTs as I catapult them downstairs to her. Its the only way I can get it to work.

There have been the odd mishaps, like the day DT2 had diarrhoea just as I was about to get him out the highchair. It had leaked out his nappy and through his sleep suit upwards and downwards. We had no time for changes (it would have been a full bath) so I had to wrap him in a fleece blanket and pop him in the car seat. At school I had another fleece blanket protecting the buggy and we ran/wafted along to school from the car park in a haze of green smog .

Anyway, how are you within yourself? LMAO but its sincerely meant

Harrogatemum · 15/06/2007 15:50

Well FG, some days I feel fine and some days I still scream at the kids and feel like a bad mother but I think I am better than I was prior to going on holiday.

I think I will see how working goes for a while and then decide whether to see the Health Visitor again.....fingers crossed I wont need to!

And dingdong - get replying to my email - when are we going DARN THE FARM!!!???

Chopster · 15/06/2007 15:59

Once you get into a routine I'm sure you'll be fine. x

what did twinmummyx2 name change to? I'm confused, but there is another thread started by a mum of 7 looking to chat.

I had to have a very immature giggle at the thought of toothbrushes in the loo. Our downstairs loo doesn't have a basin!
I was reading about paolo today. D'y know he once peed in a wellie, and buried his face in mud? I don't think you do need to worry about your leg hair!

MarsLady · 15/06/2007 16:10

Thoroughly peeved but never mind!!!!!!!!!!! (about Shakey that is).

ooooggs......... that's so not fair. Posting such a gorgeous pair on your profile. Edible!

Now do any of you have photos of yourselves bfing the DTs? I need one for my new website www.thebabymoon.co.uk It's a work in progress but very nearly finished.

mommalove... my email is lovelymarslady at aol dot com.

Email me! Where are you based?

I bf my DTs exclusively for 18 months. If your previous bfing history was good there is no reason why it can't be with DTs.

As to prematurity and drips etc... you can express. Will help where I can, but it is exhausting whilst being incredibly fulfilling!

back to the sibling-twin thing, My dss are 18 months apart and frequently asked if twins. Used to my advantage today -went to Ikea & cut off age for play bit is 6, ds1 is 7 & ds2 is 6, so I bold as brass filled in the form and only put ds2's dob & she said, 'oh they're twins? I just smiled and didn't correct her & whispered in their ears , now remeber, you're twins, ok'.

Hi marslady! wow bf dt for 18 months! I'm impressed.

Idobelieveinfairies · 16/06/2007 08:14

Morning all.

Mommalove- I breastfed my DS4 for a little over a year with no problems at all. So i tried breastfeeding my twins. I managed it for just a week. They were big though at 6lb 13 and 7lb 12 so normal sized babies really. So not sure how it works with early babies and expressing.
They were trying to feed every 2 hours, in hospital it was ok as there was no much else to do but feed. At home it changed, my boobs suddenly became very sore, the babies kept vomiting up blood, and i had no leakages of milk. They were very irritable babies and constantly hungry at home trying to feed hear, there and everywhere! After talking to midwife she said i probably didn't have enough milk. I also found it hard because of constantly feeding i didn't have enough time with my other children, they were very young 3yrs and 2 yrs so it wasn't fair on them either. So i swapped to bottles and it was all fine from then on. The twins were like new contented babies (just more sicky).

I didn't attempt it with my next set of twins.

Maybe it's just me but i find smaller babies feed a lot more often than big babies-i guess due to smaller stomachs emptying and filling quicker. My 10lber would go every 4 hours feeding and the smaller my babies were the more feeding they needed.

I have heard many successful stories of mums breastfeeding their twins, so it is possible!! You can only try these things and see how it goes.

Good luck.x

MarsLady · 16/06/2007 11:54

I'm sorry to hear that about your bfing experience with the DTs Idobelieve. However, Momma... you have me here and I can get you through it. Ask some of these lovely multiple mums.. I've supported them via phone and email (and across the sea).

We'll give it a go and hopefully with more info and support you'll do fine.

I think Idobelieve that what was missing for you was some full on support (I mean purely in a bfing sense). It's not easy feeding twins because of the tiredness etc. Big babies feed very well. Well done you for trying though and I truly am sorry that it didn't work out for you. I would turn time back and help you if I could
