I dunno, she just said "I'm not really going to be able to answer any questions about twin pregnancy, so it's probably better for youjust to see the consultant now"... !?! Never mind all the issues that are common to all pregnancies! As it's a second pregnancy I wouldn't be seeing her so much anyway but I was a bit surprised. There is a twin specialist midwife at the hospital though that I can ask about stuff though.

Hi all, I'm expecting twins in January (DCDA). Apologies if someone has already asked this further up the thread but have you all been offered steroids? My pregnancy is so far uncomplicated (as much as twins can be!) and I'm at no greater risk of premature delivery than other twin pregnancies. My consultant has described it as routine to have steroids at 28 weeks but I've not heard of everyone else having them and I'm wondering if it is the norm? Would appreciate hearing others experiences of this.

neversleepagain · 02/10/2017 13:24

I was told I would be given steriods at 35 weeks. My waters went at 34 weeks and I was given them straight away. Babies born 30 hours later and neither needed help breathing.

dangle90 · 02/10/2017 15:59

Hi tihso. I'm 26 weeks today and so far no ones mentioned steroids to me yet? Tbh though not much about birth or anything has been discussed with me yet

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like getting offered steroids seems to vary a lot from one hospital to the next! I'm a bit unsure about whether to have them. Want to avoid unnecessary medication but scared to say no to something that I may regret! Think I need to do some proper research into it.

I have id twins, you definitely want the steroids! If they are prem the steroids are for the babies lung development. Mine were 34 weeks, I had two lots of steroids (normal) 24 hours apart I think, and thankfully there was no breathing issues at birth. Think they are given as standard with early deliveries.

Hi Everyone. How is everyone doing? I had another scan yesterday at 18 weeks 4 days. Both are at good weights 8&9oz. Both babies are looking good. However, I noticed that I have started to get some vaginal pressure when I go from a sitting position to standing. Then if I stand it goes away. It's also worse as the day goes on? I asked the Dr they said it was normal. But I feel the clinic was a bit rushed and the twin clinic, if you could call it that, was short staffed at my usual two week appointment. I got the impression they just wanted me out the door. I'm still worried though. Has anyone experienced this?

dangle90 · 06/10/2017 10:45

Hi Pisces! Nice to hear from you. Glad all is well. I get this pressure too I just put it down to weight of the babies? I just feel really heavy!

Thanks Dangle:) I worry so much. I think it's just going to be like this throughout...I'll be a bit more settled when I make it to 24 weeks.

MamaDeeGee · 06/10/2017 12:42

Id say its normal for the pressure i got it more and more the further along i got. Xx

Proudmummy2017 · 06/10/2017 14:51

Further u go along more pressure you get. I am waiting for blood test to be negative I'm 26weeks tomorrow

Pisces2 · 06/10/2017 23:45

Thanks MamaDeeGee and Proud mummy. Ill be 19 weeks tomorrow. I've gained 22llbs so far and I'm only 5,3. So I'm carrying a lot of weight on the front.

moggle · 07/10/2017 10:13

Maybe think about getting a support belt? Though I think it's more about back pain than the type of pressure you describe. I've bought one from Amazon but haven't really used it much yet.

dangle90 · 09/10/2017 09:23

How's everyone doing? I'm 27weeks today and on the count down to mat leave! 4 weeks to go Grin

thecookies · 09/10/2017 14:02

Hey. I'm 27 today as well. I am looking forward to next week at the 28 week scan, seeing how much they have grown. Have been buying and been given/lent lots of baby stuff now, still have some things to get buy the bug things are all sorted. We bought a mountain buggy as also recommended by someone early on in the thread. My clothes are getting smaller and smaller, even some maternity stuff! I have my maternity leave booked for 34 weeks.

dangle90 · 09/10/2017 14:34

Hi cookies. 34 weeks? Gosh will you manage? I already feel like i'm struggling. We have most things bought now, in fact the girls wardrobe is looking better than mine lol! I'm also looking forward to our scan next week :)

OP posts:
Proudmummy2017 · 09/10/2017 15:14

I'm 26 +2 and started struggling quite early on I can't wait to wait to have my next scan next week I have got everything now just need pack hospital bag

thecookies · 09/10/2017 17:36

I need to pack my hospital bags too! Haven't even started on them yet! I'm feeling relatively good at the moment but I do have a sit down job, I sometimes work 12 hours so I'm going to ask the midwife for a letter recommending I only do 8.

Pisces2 · 17/10/2017 13:48

Hi everyone,
How is everyone doing?
I have my 20 week scan tomorrow and I'm really nervous. How did everyone else's 20 week scan go? How long did it last? Also, do they check your cervix. I would be happy if they did because of the pelivic pressure I've been getting.

All the best xo

moggle · 17/10/2017 14:49

Hey Pisces! No they don't check your cervix, it's just a sonographer doing the scan not a doctor/consultant. But when you see your consultant they will check you I'm sure if you ask?
I think we were there about 45 minutes to an hour for our twin one.

I'm just plodding on. Getting big and growing out of more clothes which I'm ebaying as fast as I finish with them! The twins are so wriggly especially the one on my right side, I'm getting kicked and bashed a lot. Definitely feels different to with DD. At 24 week scan on friday they were 1lb9 and 1lb12 which the doc seemed pleased with. Both head down this time.

I am meaning to join the whatsapp group but need to sort out my phone as it is low on memory so I had to delete a few apps, whoops. Think it needs resetting to free up space for hundreds (thousands!) of baby photos!

Hope everyone else is well xxx
