Hi! I've just found out we're expecting dcda twins early march. I was (and still am) in shock. This is my first pregnancy which I think is a good thing as we won't know any different. I'm excited and over the moon but also concerned about childcare when/if I return to work. I work as a classroom assistant so will need family to care for twins to make it financially viable. I'm also concerned about getting out and about with 2 as opposed to 1.

salsasalsa · 13/09/2017 16:14

Hi everyone, just to pop in and let you all know I'm still alive (as are the babies!) and I am feeling my first wave of slight relief and slight excitement to be reaching 24 weeks this saturday!
Our first big milestone... to think at 16 weeks when diagnosed with the sIUGR we were told twin b may need to have her cord cut is crazy.
Can feel them moving daily which is a great help, and have a monitor at home now so I can hear their heartbeats for reassurance too. My baby shower is planned for Saturday as anything can happen from there on in!
Might make me actually think about buying some bits - still haven't bought a thing.
Next Tuesday will be my 24 week scan (24+3) when hopefully, fingers crossed, the girls will both be almost viable... (twin a my bigger girl was already there last Tuesday but little one might not quite be there still next week, but almost! (500g is 'viable'))
Still a long uncertain journey ahead, but hoping the monitoring will be upped as of next week and it can all start feeling a bit more real.
Hope you and your twins are all doing fabulously?
I'm still at work obviously, 5 days a week and suffering crazily, feet ache, legs ache, back aches, feel so sorry for myself lol xx

Pisces2 · 13/09/2017 17:05

That's wonderful news Salsa, I'm so happy for youSmile you must be knackered working so much. I'm due my 16 week scan next week and I'm so nervous. They will check if there is any growth discordance then scans every two weeks then. I hope it all goes ok. When did you start to notice movements? I'm so big already, I was from day one. Anyone else like this or am I just an oddball?

dangle90 · 13/09/2017 17:31

I'd be interested to hear what app your using proudmummy! I love a bargain!
Welcome patterns and congrats! It's all a lot to take in isn't it.

So nice to hear from you salsa! And all sounds promising, I really hope your scan goes well too! Please keep us posted. My 24 week scan is next week also. I'm feeling the girls move loads now too, can even see them from the outside which is crazy.

Pisces I feel massive now too! I'll post a pic so you can see! Some people say I'm small to say I'm having twins some say I'm massive, but I do feel big!

Hi Dangle, looking good! I feel huge and have slowly started to fall apart! Grin I have started to experience pgp and have leg cramps (warning me of potential varicose veins). I'm sporting the Granny knickers and support stockings look while needing to roll around to get out of bed and off the sofa!! lol! I had a long post typed saying I haven't done my hospital bags yet but giving ideas on what to include but it disappeared. I haven't a clue what size clothes to get for me or the twins. Most websites advise doing the bags at about 30 weeks which is hard to guage what size the twins or I will be by the time of labor. Confused I know the fundal height is way off with twins but my bump is measuring 8 weeks ahead so far Shock

Salsa glad you are progressing and your babies are doing well. Smile

Proud I would love to hear about the app too please. I have nothing got. Smile

Moggle you're so organized. I need to start somewhere but it seems so daunting. I always pack way to much so I'm going to try to cut back this time. Smile

Welcome Patterns, we're having dcda twins too. Take it week by week, I felt very overwhelmed thinking too far ahead. It will all work out. Smile

Good luck with the scan Pisces It's lovely to see your babies moving around and hear their heartbeats. Smile

Thanks Twinning I must look into twins antenatal classes. Can you recommend any websites or books to find a good routine for twins? I have two older children so I will need to be organized Smile

Proudmummy2017 · 14/09/2017 00:11

The app is called Shpock its really good and Gumtree is also good I'm 23weeks on Saturday and started to have roll out of bed to get up and use the door pull myself up I'm huge already. I'm waiting have mri scan
just make sure didn't miss anything both boys are doing well with healthy heart and growing well twin 1is 1lb 2oz and twin two 1b 1oz about 3weeks ago they said they both had fluid on their brain more 10mm when went to scan last week it was less than was it was just below 10mm we just hope keeps going down. Do any woman feel sore just before private parts

moggle · 14/09/2017 06:29

I sometimes feel like something's going to fall out "down there" Proud!! Think it's the weight of them both pushing down esp with already having one child. I really need to get more disciplined with my pelvic floor exercises...

moggle · 14/09/2017 06:30

Salsa that's such good news. Praying everything continues in this way far beyond 24 weeks. xxx

dangle90 · 14/09/2017 07:58

Haha I can sympathise with you all. I've also been having a dead left leg and pins and needles in that foot, I have a bladder infection and had a mini melt down in the bath last night wondering what had happened to my body, my stomach looks like something out of alien vs preditor when I lay down GrinBlush - but it will all be worth it in the end of course!

Can't believe your measuring 8 weeks ahead heartburn Shock maybe your twinnies will make an early appearance

OP posts:
HeartburnCentral · 14/09/2017 11:16

Dangle Grin It's only my bump measuring 8 weeks ahead, I'm not sure how big the twins are - I'll have to wait for my next scan. The fundal height (which is the measurement of how high up the uterus is) is not a reliable measurement for multiples so hopefully it's nothing to worry about. I'm only 18 weeks today so I have a long way to go before the twins make an appearance.
Proud hopefully your babies will be fine and they will keep a close eye on them. I'll keep you in my prayers. I'm finding it a lot harder to relax with this pregnancy. There are so many potential risks and worries. Thank you for the app recommendation.
Proud and Moggle you could have the beginnings of PGP (Pelvic Gridle Pain). It is also called 'Round Ligament Pain'. You might need a physio referral to help you along. It can be very sore. I feel like something is going to drop out as well. Pelvic floor exercise are important but I don't think it will improve PGP. Sad

Pisces2 · 14/09/2017 11:44

You look really well. If I could figure out posting a picture, I wouldSmile. You can definitely see your bump, I don't think it's too small for twins. I'm just shocked by how big I look for nearly 16 weeks. I really expanded at 12 weeks.

Proudmummy2017 · 14/09/2017 12:25

I'm just waiting call for mri scan appointment just make sure didn't miss nothing twins are doing well moving like anything I felt one of them on side like a foot. Did they all twins measured correctly from date u missed ure period

NewChip · 14/09/2017 13:36

Hi ladies. Had our 20 week scan yesterday both babies perfect growing how they should be. Found out it's 2 girls, I'm over the moon and he's coming around. I have DS from another relationship. My current partners first babies.

Pisces2 · 14/09/2017 14:42

Congrats new chip😀 You must be so relieved xo

patternsfortwins · 15/09/2017 09:52

1.5 weeks later after we found and I've been on a high now the reality hit me. I /we are over the moon and appreciate how lucky we are but I have no idea how to care for one baby let alone 2 Confused

I think a day at a time is the best way to deal and not to think too much. I've been off work sick so I have had plenty of time to worry. I am a big believer that things happen in your life for the best even if they look like challenges.

My self confidence is also quite low but my babies might make me realise how capable I am. Halo

NewChip · 15/09/2017 10:22

Pieces So relieved and excited

Proudmummy2017 · 15/09/2017 12:28

Hi mums which beds are u planning to use for ure twins

moggle · 15/09/2017 13:22

We're going to attach DD's cot to our bed with the side off, til around 5 or 6m hopefully, and put both in there. DD slept in a bednest which was great but it wouldn't be big enough for two.

Just finally been for my consultant appt. had to spend 2 hours at the hospital, poor DD! Had to promise her a trip to toys r us afterwards! Heard their heartbeats and found out that there is a twin antenatal class running at the hospital in November which is convenient (and better yet free).

Proudmummy2017 · 15/09/2017 14:41

We are thinking moses baskets

Proudmummy2017 · 15/09/2017 14:42

I'm not keen on cots that young age just after they born
