So recently found out me and my OH are expecting twins early January! Total shock they will be our first.
Just wondered if anyone wanted to share the journey! Would be nice to have someone to chat to along the way! :)

Hey everyone, glad you are all doing ok. Salsa you must be so relieved to reach week 24, sounds like everything is going well for you. I'll not be happy until I reach that stage too. I've now started to get my regular scans which will be every two weeks. My 16 scan on Wednesday went well, both babies are doing ok. One was 6oz and the other was over 5oz, so I'm happy with that as long as they keep growing. My hubby is convinced he knows their gender from the scanSmile. I couldn't really tell from the angle I was at.

For those of you who had your 20 week scan, is it 4d or more detailed than the regular scan?

dangle90 · 22/09/2017 19:43

Hi Pisces. Glad your scan went well.
My 20 week scan was same, only difference is I was there about an hour while they thoroughly checked everything with the babies. Which was lovely as you get shown all the heart, organs ect x

That sounds good to me Pisces, there are so many uncomplicated MCDA pregnancies out there I hope you're one of them 🤞
If you have whatsapp there's a few of us on a group of you private message proud mummy your number, or anyone reading who will find that helpful.
20 week scan was just more detail like an hour long for me too.
Although I've been having growth scans every two weeks and they're all pretty much like that!
And yes... I remember being 16 weeks when they diagnosed the issue and being told little ones cord my have to be cut to give normal sized lady a chance... never thought I'd be here at 25 weeks today!!
Hope it continues steadily x

MamaDeeGee · 27/09/2017 19:42

My twins are now currently 13 days old!

Congratulations on the twins!

dangle90 · 27/09/2017 20:02

Aww congrats mama how are you finding it ?

MamaDeeGee · 27/09/2017 21:04

Thank you- Its amazing, my heart and hands are well and truly full! They are reallly well behaved babies, and waking every 4 hours for a feed even at night! Breastfeeding them both concurrently is hard so im expressing a hell of alot and topping up with formula if needed! Xx
They were 6lb 4oz and 6lb 11oz so big for twins Grin

dangle90 · 28/09/2017 10:07

Awww they sound like they're doing well! Is it harder than you expected? It's nice to hear from someone who have just had there twinnies! Makes me nervous and excited all in one go!
How is everyone else?

Hi ladies please can I hop on this thread? Currently 25+6 with DCDA twins, official due date 5th Jan and hoping they don't come too near Christmas Day!

Congrats MamaDee echoing Dangle it's great to hear from somebody who has newborn twins! They are brilliant weights, how many weeks did you get to?

dangle90 · 28/09/2017 10:14

Welcome mama bear! And congrats!! Similar to me, I'm 25+3! How's your pregnancy been so far!
Ah yeah I was going to ask that mamadee x

dangle90 · 28/09/2017 10:15

Also I really don't want them to come Christmas Day! 38 weeks is Christmas Day! So hoping they will come 37 weeks or before (not too early obviously) so we can be home and settled for Christmas

OP posts:
mammabear4 · 28/09/2017 10:23

Same!! The golden date is 15th Dec for me to hit the 37 weeks mark and then I'll be allowed in the MLU, so fingers crossed! If not hoping at least a week AFTER Christmas - already got a 3yo DD so the thought of 3 lots of Christmas presents and 2 lots of birthday presents within a week of Christmas is giving me serious anxiety!

All been fine so far, bit of a wobble at the beginning due to bleeding and having had a previous MC. Awful, awful sickness and lack of sleep energy between about 10-18 weeks and then been uphill since then but am getting further and further into whale territory! Are your twins DCDA too dangle?

mammabear4 · 28/09/2017 10:24

That was supposed to be just "lack of energy" not "lack of sleep energy" whatever that means ha

Proudmummy2017 · 28/09/2017 10:54

My due date is January but doctors want me have my identical twin boys at 36weeks just before Christmas I have one boy already 3 in Nov

dangle90 · 28/09/2017 11:04

God yeah that is a lot of present buying lol! I tried to look at the positive and think atleast if they want something large it can be a joint present 😂! Yeah mine are DCDA too. Ahh yes whale territory I'm getting very familiar with that too. I've forgotten what it's like to not feel exhausted lol!

Hey Mamabear i was 37 and 5

Awaiting induction since 37 and 1
But went into labour naturally on my own! Zz

MamaDeeGee · 28/09/2017 11:09

And Dangle90, so far im finding it easy as they comfort eachother the only time we had problems was the first night as they both fed constantly and with size was hard to feed both at same time, and our first night home as we put them in separate baby boxes... they didnt like been apart so put them back together the next day and no problems since xx

Mine were DCDA too xxx

dangle90 · 28/09/2017 11:22

Aww that's so cute they wanted to be together. We've planned on keeping our sleeping together so hopefully they will be okay. I hear so many different things, my consultant said I deffo won't go over 37... but I hear quite often people going more towards 38 weeks so we shall see!

OP posts:
mammabear4 · 28/09/2017 11:55

MamaDee that sounds ideal. Also planning on keeping the twins together to sleep sounds great that they settle each other well!
dangle I got signed off consultant led care and only have to see my midwives now. I didn't get on with the consultants at all they made me feel like I had absolutely no control over my own body and babies, plus our hospital is an hour away so was a nightmare driving there twice a month plus midwife appointment once a month. They're happy as long as I'm healthy and babies are healthy for me to go down the natural route, no inductions or plans for interventions unless necessary. Midwives have been super supportive. Just need twin 1 to be head down and to get over 37 weeks so babies will be a good size!

dangle90 · 28/09/2017 15:51

Really mama! That sounds awful, I've only had 2 appointments with consultant they just seemed quite rushed but don't think there's too much to be said just yet! I've changed midwife as mine was awful filled me with 0 confidence and the one I have now is lovely 😊

mammabear4 · 29/09/2017 12:37

dangle as soon as I went for my first consultant appointment they were dictating to me exactly what they wanted to do - induce at 37 weeks, epidural and labour in theatre room "in case" something went wrong, scalp clip attached to twin 1's head... felt like it was just constant negativity as well. I've heard some consulants are amazing and supportive of the mother's preferences sadly mine were very reluctant to listen. I had a very quick and straightforward natural water birth with my DD and would at least like to try for that again despite there being two this time!
All fine now though as I don't have to see a consultant again (providing we all stay healthy and babies continue growing perfectly).
I'm glad you've got a lovely midwife now! Mine have all been amazing, even looked into home birth for me which I haven't 100% ruled out xx

moggle · 29/09/2017 20:01

mamma that sounds a bit rubbish. My consultant (well the registrars I see) gave me a broad outline of how they usually do things but said they wouldn't talk about specifics until much nearer the time. They would likely want to induce at about 38 weeks though but I'm happy with that having read the NICE guidelines ... you're lucky to be able to use the MLU that is definitely out for me! They said about the epidural that they would site it and give only a tiny dose so i could be mobile. Was a bit worried about that as managed to have DD without any pain relief and concerned how the epidural would affect pushing, but they did reassure me. Overall though they were very optimistic about my chances of delivering both vaginally as long as they're in the right configuration. Shame yours weren't so helpful! They get a lot of twins at our hospital though so maybe they are a bit more comfortable with it.

Well we've just come back from 4 nights away in Italy, it was lovely and relaxing just what the doctor ordered. DD had a fab time with my parents although has come home with a high temp :-( I'm feeling so massive now though and my bump keeps going hard which is so uncomfy. How am I going to keep this up another 16-17 weeks!

moggle · 29/09/2017 20:03

Oh my midwife washed her hands of me!! I won't see her again. She was useless anyway.

Proudmummy2017 · 01/10/2017 02:39

I have appointment on Wednesday have a scan and to get my results of my identical boys after last Monday we had mri scan they are both doing well kicking me flipping like anything. I have only 11weeks left so hoping they come just before Xmas on date doctors said 16th December

moggle · 01/10/2017 13:12

proudmunmy or anyone with identicals especially boys, I saw long sleeve tshirts in Morrisons with "One of a kind" written on ... thought it would make a comedy photo!

dangle90 · 01/10/2017 14:55

That sounds funny moggle 😂!
Why did your midwife wash her hands of you?!
