So recently found out me and my OH are expecting twins early January! Total shock they will be our first.
Just wondered if anyone wanted to share the journey! Would be nice to have someone to chat to along the way! :)

Mine is Jan 9th!! Only a few days before you! Oh gosh yeah I'm lucky really with these been my first I bet your stressing already. I'm just wondering how you decide about when to start your maternity leave ect! Did you have any incline you were going to have twins? When was your first scan?

I'm happy just worried how I'll cope - 3 under 3!
I'm a STAH at the moment but I've heard a lot of people say they took maternity at 30 weeks because of the high risk of premature birth, i'd say go with your instinct it's totally up to you.
I had no idea tbh, I thought I was going to miscarry as I did earlier this year and a couple of years ago.
So I was expecting bad news and couldn't believe it when they said it was twins!
I went in for an early scan at 10 weeks because I was having constant pains and was so anxious I was going to miscarry again.
When I found out I was having twins it explained why my nausea and fatigue had been so extreme!

Did you have any clues it was going to be twins? When did you find out? X

dangle90 · 25/06/2017 18:46

I'd be worried too but I'm sure you'll do just fine!
Well we booked an early scan for 10 weeks too I was really worried because I'd had hardly any symptoms what so ever so similar to you went expecting to hear the worst then to see 2 babies on the screen was absolutely crazy I couldn't believe it!

Oh wow dangle90 very similar stories then!!
Do you have any family history of twins?
I have none whatsoever - I thought the sonographer was joking when she first told me Grin

dangle90 · 25/06/2017 19:53

Yeah that's what I was thinking, they are very similar! Well I noticed there were 2 before she said, my OH was just in his own little world didn't even hear her say twins! I got the giggles then think it was from nerves! Well my dad has twin boys to another woman (not my mum) and I found out after that my OH great grandad was a twin. But it just wasn't on my radar at all! Especially with having no sickness or anything

We had a scan yesterday and saw our babies again. They almost look like actual babies now! Heads and bodies and arms and legs. One was having a little wiggle for us. We even got a nice picture of the two of them together!
And thank goodness, no triplet hiding in there... (that was my biggest fear!!)

dangle90 · 28/06/2017 13:47

Aww that's lovely moggle!!! I had mine this morning, one was misbehaving but the other was posing and dancing about! It's so amazing is it!

Congrats Dangle Smile it's so exciting! I have dcda fraternal boy/girl twins who are 6 months old in 5 days. They were born at 34 weeks by c section as both were breech and weighed 3lb 14oz and 4lb 8oz. Two weeks in scbu for weight gain and temperature regulation. I had a very stressful pregnancy so make sure you enjoy every second! All the sickness exhaustion and back pain is soooo worth it! As some other posters have said the tiny baby clothes buried them but I found Tesco tiny baby ones the smallest fit once they reached 4.5-5 lbs. Asda do a great prem range too. Enjoy! Grin

dangle90 · 28/06/2017 14:43

Awww lovely minty! How have you managed then, have you been enjoying it? I know I've been worrying too much so far so need to have a word with myself now I've had my 12 week scan I'm hoping I'll be more relaxed! I've been so lucky so far not to have sickness or anything so need to make the most of it! X

Hey, congratulations! I know this is a week or so old... Just wondering if you've had your 12 weeks scan/if it went ok? And if I can join in!

I am 13 weeks pregnant today with twins, they think DIDI.
I'm 25 and it's out first, naturally, not twins either fam.

My 12 weeks scan isn't until next friday, when I will be 14 weeks, and I am constantly terrified something bad has happened to one or both, vanishing twin syndrome etc...

I had a scan last at 9+6 and there were 2x beating hearts.

Need it to hurry up so I can just know.

I'm scared too about early birth... and telling my employer after my 6 month probation review the week or so after my scan! When I am positively sure I will be showing obviously, already quite visible now, I'm quite small!

So scary but exciting xx

IntegritasAdSalutemVocat · 30/06/2017 11:33

Congrats! I have my c-section next Monday and I'm having identical girl triplets (35 weeks) I already have a 3 year old son so I'm pretty nervous! ConfusedSmile

salsasalsa · 30/06/2017 11:53

Just seen up there you had your 12 week scan! Congratulations that's absolutely amazing. It's nice to read you've had next to no symptoms... as I haven't either and was worrying as thought it would be worse with 2! Xx

chocolateshortcake · 30/06/2017 19:38

I had my 12 week scan on Wednesday too. I was really nervous as I just don't feel pregnant but perfect growth and two babies flipping around in there! You will be fine :)

dangle90 · 01/07/2017 07:08

Hi salsa! I'll be 13weeks Monday! I have been exactly the same as you worrying constantly but I do feel since my 12 week scan I have relaxed a lot. I'm actually starting to feel pregnant now. I think you just have it etched in your mind that your still "in the danger zone" before 12 weeks so worry even more! Hope your scan goes ok let us know won't you :) x

Hi guys - room for a newbie? I've just found out I'm expecting twins at my 12 week scan (private scan at 7 weeks only showed one so was quite a shock!). Due 7th Jan. Looking forward to sharing the journey with you all!

moggle · 04/07/2017 15:45

Oh wow Chizzle that must have been a shock! Ours were IVF so they looked for (and found) 2 at the 7 week scan but I made them have a really good look for a number 3 (and again at week 9 scan!).
Do you have any other children already or are these your first?

moggle · 04/07/2017 15:54

I've just been remembering how I was superstitious with DD and didn't buy anything before the 12 week scan... So far with these two I have won a buggy on ebay that I need to go collect on Saturday, and I also got a twin feeding pillow for free from a FB page, which is great! The lady who had it available came to the door with one of the twins ... she told me they were three months (but he looked smaller), ID twin boys (with a 2 year old as well) and life was crazy but amazing. As we were talking, her husband pulled up and started hauling boxes and boxes of nappies and aptamil out of the boot!! My face was a bit Shock. My DD (2.5) was so enchanted with the tiny baby while I was talking to the mum "look at the tiny hands mummy! Mummy LOOK! the teeny tiny baby has teeny tiny hands! MUMMY LOOK!". Afterwards I asked her whether she'd like to have a teeny tiny baby at our house and she said 'yes please'!!! So cute I nearly cried.

Chizzle · 04/07/2017 16:07

Thanks moggle, it sure was! I keep having to ask my hubby if we really did see two in there or whether I imagined it! 🙃 It's our first so a whole new world, but super exciting. Your prizes and free stuff sounds awesome! We've not even started thinking about getting things yet - currently in a teeny tiny flat so focussing on moving first so we know where we'll be for things like nct classes and getting on nursery waiting lists etc.. so much to think about!!

moggle · 04/07/2017 16:17

We moved house when I was about 28wks pregnant with DD - it was great to start doing NCT in our new place and we've made some great friends through it. Hope you are as lucky!
I'm (only very slightly) annoyed that we have to buy a whole load of stuff again - thought we would just be able to use all DD's stuff and save lots of money this time around - so I'm trying to get all the extras second hand and thought I'd better start soon! Planning on getting a new pushchair (the ebay one is just to clip car seats on for shopping), but other than that I'm hoping to get everything second hand. We're lucky that our house is big enough, but we do need a bigger car.
The thought of three lots of childcare costs is already giving me palpitations!

dangle90 · 04/07/2017 21:26

Hi chizzle! Congrats!!! Bet that was a shock if they never saw 2 at the 7 week scan!
We have bought a pram now! Got the icandy double. feel a bit overwhelmed as the pram and all accessories fills our living room! It's deffo starting to feel real now!

OP posts:
Chizzle · 04/07/2017 22:14

Thank you and hi! Can't even get my head around what pram we might need - feel like I need to catch up with you guys. I intend to go do a few test drives, trying to get my head around whether a side-by-side, double decker or one in front of the other would work best for us. I'll definitely check your one out! x

Chizzle · 04/07/2017 22:15

Actually just googled it - it looks awesome! That one's def on the test drive list 🙂 Thanks for letting me know x
