So recently found out me and my OH are expecting twins early January! Total shock they will be our first.
Just wondered if anyone wanted to share the journey! Would be nice to have someone to chat to along the way! :)

Heartburn central I feel the same. I can't really settle myself and I worry so much about my babies given the risks involved. I'm have MCDA twins so I'm very hyper aware of the potential problems. I'm doing my best to stay off google. I'm keep telling myself that it will be ok. I'm a little worried by how much my belly has grown over the past 3 weeks, I look 6 months. I work in education and my students from last year guessed already at nearly 16 weeks. Is it normal to pop out so much early on? I'm small so it's more noticeable. No feeling of movement yet. This is my first pregnancy and I'm an older.

dangle90 · 15/09/2017 18:40

I would take an ever growing bump as a good sign, shows the babies are growing too. It's hard not to worry about things though, especially with them being the first pregnancy, you just don't know what to expect.
We still haven't decided about sleeping, probably both in a cot in our bedroom.
Had 4 books on twin parenting delivered today, so no doubt will be reading them when I'm home. I'll let you all know if there worth getting :)

Just had our 20 week scan this morning. All good, still two boys :-) weirdly one seems to have an extra toe on left foot and extra finger on left hand!! Amazing that they can tell when they must be so small at the moment. The sonographer said everything else was totally normal so probably it is just a random occurrence rather than a sign of anything else (as i think a fair few chromosomal abnormalities / syndromes have extra digits as a sign). I'm seeing the consultant on friday so he may refer us to another hospital for a more detailed scan. Not really worrying about it though. I was a bit nervous of this scan so if a couple of extra digits is all we have to worry about it's a big relief! They were incredibly wriggly. They would not look the right way when the scanner was trying to get a nice picture for us, so both are full on face shots instead of profile, it's a bit creepy with the eye sockets staring at you!

dangle90 · 19/09/2017 13:06

Hi moggle! So glad the scan went well!! That's crazy about the extra digits, I never saw them check my girls? Unless they just notice things like that by accident. We just had our 24 week scan today all is well this end too :)

I think they are so good at identifying all the bits and bobs they probably barely need to give it a second glance to see everything's there. Certainly with twin 1 she was narrating throughout and said 'there we've got two hands.... and two feet...' but with twin 2 she spent a lot more time looking at the feet and when she said at the end "there's just one thing I've noticed" i knew it was going to be about the feet - although I was worried maybe it was a club foot or something.
Great that your scan was good too :-D

Proudmummy2017 · 19/09/2017 14:21

I have my mri scan next Monday then Wednesday have to go back for results I'm quite nervous myself but I no they gonna be fine they moving like anything like football team. dangle90 · 19/09/2017 18:26

It is crazy how in depths the scans are isn't it moggle; I was amazed with our 20 week scan and her showing us the ventricles in the heart ect.
Proud I work in MRI, you will have to let us know how you go on, you will be fine I'm sure :)

My aunt had same experience. She got pregnant in her late age. She was 42 years when she conceived. She didn't think of it. She was taking as single child. In her 4th month, she came to know it is multi-pregnancy. She was so astonished as there is no twin in our family. The twins were not identical. They were of different genders. One was baby girl and one was baby boy. It was after 12 years of her last child. But in spite of all it, it's a beautiful experience of having twins. My one mate also having wish of twins. She has two babies one of 3 years and other one is 5 years old. But it's too difficult to look after them.

salsasalsa · 20/09/2017 15:54

Hi guys, how is everyone?

I reached my 24 week milestone Saturday and had my early baby shower so feeling all a bit more real and tiny bit relaxed!

Even started buying bits yesterday, got carry cots, cot bed, buggy, sterilizer, plus all the baby shower gifts, so gone from not prepared at all to fairly prepared in a week!

Had my 24+3 growth scan yesterday, and again all was well, still growing on their own curves, fluid levels good, cord flow both positive.

They said they were happy to release me back to general hospital with a consultant, from their specialist care with mfm, and also still two weekly, and I'm just not sure how I feel about this, with their growth restriction I thought monitoring would be upped from them being viable, but, I asked and they said no. Feel a bit confused as I know things can change dramatically for the worse with the cord flow and quickly.

My normal girl is weighing 1lb 9oz and my smaller girl is weighing 1lb 1oz.

I just really hope I'm getting sufficient care for their selective growth restriction, I will not rest if anything goes wrong that could've been picked up in between.

Hope everyone's babies are doing well, and you're all feeling well? I'm overwhelmingly tired and still working Mon to Fri, fiance is sick of me saying how tired I am as he does a physical job lol xx

dangle90 · 20/09/2017 16:16

Hi salsa, lovely to hear from you, that sounds positive, I suppose you just have to have faith in them hard though! I had my scan yesterday too twin 1 weighing approx 1.5lb and twin 2 weighing approx 1.4lb.
You sound like you've got very organised in the past week :)! Hope your baby shower went well x

Ahh brilliant, was yours 24 weeks too?
Those weights sort of make both of my girls seem ok weights in my mind lol, in the middle, probably not how it works!
Glad they're doing well, yes lots of just hoping they know best... not being in control is not one of my strong points...
Thank you, it's nice to check in, and leave my trail in case any MCDA sIUGR mums check in! X

dangle90 · 20/09/2017 17:00

Yeah deffo! Yeah I thought that about the weights there not too dissimilar. Yeah it was my 24 week. We have scans every 4 week now. Your just in the unknown aren't you so you will be feeling uneasy and worried ontop of the everyday pregnant worries!

Hi everyone, great news about your scans. It's great peace of mind. I have discovered this week I now have vulva varicose veins to add to my list of symptoms. 😢 Does anyone else have these? Any advice welcome please. x
At the anomaly scan, is there any specific questions I should ask?
Dts are kicking lightly and moving about. I get great reassurance from the doppler but I can't wait to see them moving around on the scan. It's not for another 3 weeks so I'll have to be patient Hmm Not one of my strong points Grin

Proudmummy2017 · 20/09/2017 19:36

'm 24 weeks this Saturday I have to buy more clothes soon for myself. How you all managing to get clothes. I'm trying find comfortable bras now mother care just so uncomfortable now do you woman no anywhere else I can get hate wired ones I've expanded in last two weeks. Just waiting for mri scan next Monday then get results on Wednesday do have normal scan as well as we like see our self's how our both our boys doing.

HeartburnCentral · 20/09/2017 20:36

Proud I get the cotton bras. Stay away from underwire because it causes blocked ducts and if you're growing the wires dig in. I got the two packs in mothercare but you have to try on each bra because some fit differently to the size on the box. I'm mainly wearing leggings and long tops for comfort. I picked up some cotton maternity dresses in Lidl a while ago for every day wear with black support tights and flat shoes. The leggings and tops are handy for hospital appointments especially scans because you don't have as much faffing about to get to your bump. Good luck with your mri and scan x

Proudmummy2017 · 20/09/2017 22:33

Who has what's app so keep in contact better to keep up to date

salsasalsa · 21/09/2017 11:47

No veins, I did have a full on nose bleed this morning for about an hour but think that's normal... never had one before so was terrifying!
Clothes, I'm trying not to buy anything other that the maternity jeans and leggings I bought, and a few baggy tops... Just trying to get away with my floatier and stretchier clothes from before, and bra wise, still no worries there either... my 32A has gone up to a 36A, laughable, comfortably filling an A cup now lol and just getting wider, brilliant!
I'd be happy to whatsapp don't know how to go about putting details on here though? Can you private message x

Proudmummy2017 · 21/09/2017 12:43

Do u no how do private message on here

Proudmummy2017 · 21/09/2017 12:51

dangle90 · 21/09/2017 16:11

I'd be happy to what's app too.
I went to get measured today at Harvey's and can you believe they don't do maternity bras? so going to have to book in at m&s at some point, can't wear these wired ones much longer they are killing me 😂!
