A new thread!
Especially for throckenholt

I was hoping the original one would go to 1000, but it was gettign a but annoying scrolling all the way done, so come over here instead.

How is everyone coping with the school holidays?

I'm fed up with the rubbish weather, as we're stuck in the house too much. I daren't take them to soft play as it packed during the hols and then I can't watch all four of them. Plus it costs a fortune.
Mine are changing so much. Rav is becoming a right wuss, scared of new places. I suppose it shows awareness, but it is annoying when I've driven miles for a nice day out and he just wants to sit and whine because he is too scared to go on anything! Shay is developing his houdini skills, and now has a tendancy to bolt out of parks so I have to watch him like a hawk. I must dig out the reins before we go on holiday.

Hi Kelly, good for you with the TMA, I can't get my head around what you manage!

Laundry, laundry, laundry. Could you treat yourself - do all the washing then get one of these firms to collect the lot and bring it back ironed? Just once to get you on course again?

MarsLady · 05/09/2006 14:50

87%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You brilliant girl you! Well done!

harrogatemum · 05/09/2006 16:11

Hello ladies. I am holed up in bed typing this. have been sick with a nasty bug since Friday night and today has been the first day I have held down anything solid for 4 days. Weighed myself this morning and have lost 8lbs, I wouldnt mind in normal circumstances but being 28 weeks pregnant makes me feel differently about these things! To top things off DH had an op last week and is on sick leave so the pair of us are real miseries, thank God for my mother, what would I do without her. I feel like I havent seen the DTs for days as I have just been too weak to lift my head off the pillow.

You all sound like you're having fun and hello to insomnimum - I would say it gets easier in some respects (sleep in the main - yes mine are now back to sleeping normally, touch wood) but harder in others (they are mobile, they tend to go in different directions, they like to hit each other and steal each others toys) but immensely rewarding as all the other twin mummies will tell you!

Will post more when feeling better.

MarsLady · 05/09/2006 16:18

HM

Lots of virtual hugs and kisses and get well prayers!

frumpygrumpy · 05/09/2006 19:39

HM I feel for you, take good care and sleep as much as you can. When I'm ill and feeling slightly better I plan what gorgeous thing I'm going to eat when I can stomach it again, share it with us........

throckenholt · 06/09/2006 09:29

how is everyone doing ?

MY ds1 started year 1 at school yesterday - as I was sorting out his pe kit (plimsolls and trainers included), his outdoor shoes and his indoor shoes, his book bag and his lunch stuff - I had a vision of this time next year - when DS2&3 will be starting reception.

This time round DS2 took the book bag, while DS3 took the lunchbox, and DS1 had is backpack with his pe kit in. Next year I realised they would each have that lot, and there would just not be enough hands to carry it all .

And then I realised - it would mean packed lunches for 3 every DAY (plus mine when I am at work) - eeekk -- enough to make me run away screaming and appreciate the fact that playgroup does not involve packed lunches, changes of shoes or pe kits .

Although yesterday it did involve bringing two "volcanoes" home - which were actually piles of flour with bicarb and vinegar with red food colouring - very smelly, and very hard to transport on a windy day. I wonder how soon before I can discretely rehouse them in the bin ?

Ah well - a peaceful day at work today thankfully!

throckenholt · 06/09/2006 10:07

just remembered - this morning I had lesson in not talking down to my kids.

DT1 had found a ladybird yesterday and put it in a plastic box to keep. This morning he saw it as soon as he got up - but the lid was off and no ladybird to be seen. He was heartbroken and demanding to know who had taken the lid off. I copped out and said "maybe the ladybird pushed it off himself" (an approach I usually despise - but I was only half awake !) - he looked at me and said very matter of factly - "no - ladybirds aren't strong enough for that".

DT2 later admitted quietly that he had taken off the lid but did not know their had been a ladybird in there. To which DT1 said - ok - lets go and see if we can find anymore outside.

Big smiles alround

Kelly1978 · 06/09/2006 10:20

peace!

ds is now back at school too. I wonder what I will do when they are all at school. THe cost of uniforms, four lunchbags, 4 bookbags and 4 pe kits, and no pram to put it all on!

Does anyone want to adopt two adorable dts? Please? They are so destructive! dt2 is currently terrorising the fish and dt1 is emptying the hall cupboard.

Hope you feelign better now HM. Try not to worry too much, you might be losing weight, btu the baby will be takign that from you.

Oh god, I hadn't thought that far ahead!!! And think of end-of-term clear outs the teacher always has when they come home with 60 paintings, a couple of models, a pile of 100 worksheets to show you what they've been doing, and say "can you take this mum its too heavy" and try and eat whatever is left in the lunchbox

harrogatemum · 06/09/2006 14:37

FG - not sure I can think about much yet in terms of grub, although today I hae managed a cheese toastie! Hooray!

We are supposed to be going on holiday on Friday to Cornwall so if I am better and we get there, maybe some nice local fish!

frumpygrumpy · 06/09/2006 20:41

HM hope very much you get better in big leaps for Friday.

I have bad news and good news......

The bad news is that I have a spot. It is ENORMOUS. Really, really, really big. It is very painful and is only just showing signs of reducing in size after a full week.

The good news is that no one in the whole world would ever know because its up my left nostril.

Just wanted to share .

I had a lovely day today. Nothing special just things. Took DT2 on the bus into town to take some things back (nursery unusually had a place for one for one day only, so DT1 went and she'll get to do the next treat). He loved it, hugged me loads, told me he loved me . And I loved it too. Used to do stuff like that with DD all the time but can't do it with the DTs until they're older. We chatted about buses and he said "hello" to everyone we met and blew kisses. I had the privilege of carrying him about whenever he didn't fancy walking. Thats the one thing I really miss - I hardly used a buggy with DD, we just walked or I just carried her and there is a wonderful closeness and pride in having them up beside you. My DTs are always in the buggy (on the school run or in the shops). I'm rambling but in short it was just lovely.

Peaceful sleeps everyone.

MarsLady · 06/09/2006 22:08

I'm not posting on here again until everyone is better. Whatever you have HM you seem to have passed some of it on. I now have a heavy head cold. This I could do without! I've got an OU tutorial tomorrow. I was going to finish the essay that I'm behind on, but the words keep crashing in my head!!!! Ow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus I have some Postnatal work tomorrow... which I may have to cancel so as not to pass it on to the baby.

DD1 started her new school today. Awwwwwwwwww.... she had a fabulous time and can't wait until tomorrow.

Oh just thought I'd mention.... if you see (in the next couple of weeks) a rather gorgeous mixed race girl on posters and billboards in Carphone Warehouse.... that'll be DD1! [proud mother emoticon]

frumpygrumpy · 06/09/2006 22:47

I will seek out Carphone Warehouse and camp outside until they put it at the front of the window - good for mini Mars!! GO TO BED and remember to feed a cold. Good luck honey.

frumpygrumpy · 07/09/2006 14:18

I'm shit at doing links. Kelly has a problem nd she's on a thread on "other stuff".

frumpygrumpy · 11/09/2006 13:08

Hi girls, just checking in really. I'm still about but really only posting on Kelly's thread since she's having such a horrid time of it. Hope everyone is well.

MarsLady · 11/09/2006 19:49

Hi all.... my client's water broke and I'm just waiting to go in. So exciting... but I do hope it's over and done with tonight as I've only done the intro to my 4,000 word essay!

Praying hard for Kelly and all those goings on. Can't help but wonder if there isn't something that we could do for her between ourselves?

Anyway... love and kisses to you ladies. Hope all going well. Am taking your birth plan to the hospital with me DD.... will email you tomorrow with my thoughts... but I think it's looking good.

frumpygrumpy · 11/09/2006 21:44

How exciting Mars! It sounds like rewarding work and I can see why you enjoy it.

I'm up for helping Kelly any which way I can so if anyone has a suggestion, count me in. She's not behaving herself actually. Not eating well in particular.

THERE YOU GO KELLY, I TOLD ON YOU!!!! NOW GET IT SORTED!!!!

kittywits · 11/09/2006 22:16

Sorry to hijack this thread but I'd like some advice off you ladies who use double buggies! I need to buy a new one. Old one works but is big and clumsy and drives me mad. Could someone recommend one that they have been happy with? I would like something light ish weight, narrow as poss and easy to steer. Thanks, hijack over

frumpygrumpy · 13/09/2006 11:42

Hi Kittiwits, I have the McLaren twin traveller and its not the best but its days are numbered (probably about another 350 or so!!!). Its a bit heavy for in and out the car but I can get through all the doors I try. There might be a thread futher down on Multiples about this because I remember Kelly saying she's had a couple of different ones. Hopefully someone will be along soon......

tracykb · 13/09/2006 22:48

Hi Kittiwits

I have a nipper which I love - really light (9kg), easy to steer and quite narrow (73cm) for a side-by-side. There's a new one out with a swivel front wheel which is apparently wonderful, although my fixed wheel version turns on a sixpence anyway, because it's so light. Only slight issue with it is it has bucket seats so my 18mth twins can't sit upright in it and get a bit bored.

So I bought a second one - a duolite from mothercare. Not quite so easy to steer, but just as light and they can sit bolt upright in it. And much cheaper than the nipper as well.

HTH

MarsLady · 13/09/2006 23:03

Hi ladies.... I'll be back soon. Half way through my essay...... I know I know... I shoulda started it days ago.

My client gave birth though. It was very quick! 40 mins from the time I arrived at the hospital till her gorgeous son was born. Fab! Left me knackered but with time to do my essay.

Enough of the procrastinating (and calling it a break) back to the grind.

Soon all I'll be moaning about is revision and having my exam on the 12th Oct.... sigh...........

Okay then..... I'm going back in.......... no really I am.... honestly.... truly..... I'm leaving now.... I promise.....

See....I've gone!

Honest injun!

Trust me................. would I lie to you (baby, would I lie to you)?

Oh okay then........... I've gone!

kittywits · 14/09/2006 07:31

Thanks for the ideas, any more gratefully receieved!

frumpygrumpy · 14/09/2006 10:32

Kitty, you could always start a new thread about it to get more input from across the board. We are usually fairly regular on this thread but its a bit quieter atm. We're going to have a champagne celeration when we don't need the double buggy anymore!!!

How's it going Mars? Ever thought about starting a thread and getting everyone to contribute a couple of sentences! I could probably even manage a paragraph or two since I ramble well.

kittywits · 14/09/2006 10:47

frumpy, I tried that and got one reply eventually !!
maybe it's not something people are very interested in.

throckenholt · 14/09/2006 10:54

kitty - try another thread again - and keep bumping - I am certain lots of people have advice on double buggies- just that your thread got lost along the way somewhere.
