A new thread!
Especially for throckenholt

I was hoping the original one would go to 1000, but it was gettign a but annoying scrolling all the way done, so come over here instead.

How is everyone coping with the school holidays?

I'm fed up with the rubbish weather, as we're stuck in the house too much. I daren't take them to soft play as it packed during the hols and then I can't watch all four of them. Plus it costs a fortune.
Mine are changing so much. Rav is becoming a right wuss, scared of new places. I suppose it shows awareness, but it is annoying when I've driven miles for a nice day out and he just wants to sit and whine because he is too scared to go on anything! Shay is developing his houdini skills, and now has a tendancy to bolt out of parks so I have to watch him like a hawk. I must dig out the reins before we go on holiday.

on twinsclub.co.uk there are forums (haven't used it for a while though) - there a a few on there who have 2 sets of twins (as faras I remember no twin/triplet combinations ).

Kelly - no - probably quite mad - but it is all hypothetical because I am NOT having any more (just if I was mad enough to contemplate it - being 40 (eek) in a month's time - I haven't time (or energy) to go for 2 more as singles, and would not want a tailender who would be at least 4 years younger than the others (18 months between DS1 and DTs) - so if I could guarantee 2 healthy twins (big IF), then that is the only way I would contemplate having more kids). Does that make any sense ? can't be bothered to go back and make it more coherent !

Definitely hypothetical anyway - pregnancy was not my finest time.

Are yours id or non-id ? Not likely to have a 2nd set of id - but I guess as you get older you are more likely to have non-id - so I see your point about not risking it again .

Kelly1978 · 09/08/2006 11:08

pregnancy def not mine best time neither with the dts, which is prob the biggest reason for me not wanting dts again. the pg bit was def worse than the having them bit! Mine are non-id, and I'm 28. So prob a fair risk. It's also more likely in tall women.

speedymama, I've only ever met two people with triplets and they didn't have any other children, so not a lot of help! We went to a twins club do in the summer where there were 30 sets and no mums with more than 1 set. But then most of them stopped after having dts.

Weeeeeelllllll, helllloooo babes . I'm sad to see the end of our thread as it documented my whole life in a way I only share with you, my silent, trusty, fellow crazy daisies. But it wasn't a quick read for new kids in town!! So here we are .

Missing you terribly, terribly, terribly. We've not sorted out the pc yet as we had the DTs birthday onw weekend which we tried to keep as small as possible (me being an antisocial old yak) and it ended up a full two days of constant visitors, tea, cake, wine, beer, ringing bells, presents etc. Lovely if it was people you liked ....

THEN we saw the house of our dreams is up for sale and we've been viewing it and trying to decide whether to go for it. The problem is it WAS the house of our dreams that we searched for for about 10 years. But since the DTs came and we moved twice that year (our new house wasn't ready and we had to move out of our old place for the new owners to move in) and have a lovely big house now that needs nothing but decoration done to it, I'm just not sure we can take on such a big probject. Its a very old house with heaps of character but heaps of work and money needed. All possible but do we want to??? I'm all confused and looking for a sign. I so desperately wanted to consult the MN jury on this one but I'm only on here on my mums pc to do the Tesco shop and, like before, it could be long enough before I get here again. Ho hum. Life is never dull.

Kelly and Mars, I'm struggling without you girls!!!!

Don't forget me, send me signs through the air and know I miss you all from the heart of my bottom .

Flamesparrow, we could arrange multiples for you .....[grin.] Jump on here anytime darling, all welcome, especially if you fall off the world a little bit sometimes - I have great experience in that area!

Kelly1978 · 09/08/2006 11:28

hellooooo!
I've missed you. Was actually thinking about you today, wondering how you are.

The hosue sounds gorgeous. If you can do it, I would be very tempted. I'd lvoe to rennovate an old house. I think it might be somethign you regret if you don't do it now, but don't take on more than you can cope with.

Very sorry about the old thread. It will be archived and stay forever thought! I think I'm going to save a copy actually. It's like havign a diary of twins, and this will be the second part.

dts bday sounded great too. I'd love that. I'm not an anti-social old yak, and I get lonelee

frumpygrumpy · 09/08/2006 11:32

Oooh Kelly, lovelt to hear from you!!! How exciting, I can't leave!!!

I keep thinking, if its the house we want to live in in 5-10 years time then we have to buy it now because they are so rare. Its only the second one we've seen in original condition in about 10 years of looking. But we also have NO experience of this type of stuff and I watch the disasters on TV.......Ah it'll work out I guess.

I get lonely and I'm antisocial - work that out can you??!! Miss you honey and its great to talk to you x.

throckenholt · 09/08/2006 12:32

If you can bear living in an unfinished house for a long time then go for it - the kids can help out as they get older (we are building an extension and the kids love "helping"). If you think that scenario sounds awful then save the dream for another 10 years

ps - sorry I made you all have a new thread - you could still post on that one too if you really miss it

MarscusGarvey · 10/08/2006 13:27

FG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hiya darling! Get the dream house. It will be your forever house (and I don't just mean doing it up forever!).

Missing you madly! Are you going to come to the London Christmas meet up? (I say London, that's where it will be). You can stay at mine. LGJ can have the couch lol. I'll remember to put up the white floating curtains for you.

Hi ladies! I never stop pinching myself re: having twins. Must amazing thing I've ever done! Really need to do something now... like ice my cake. Mwah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

harrogatemum · 11/08/2006 09:35

Speedy - I once put a thread on about more than one set of twins and a lady posted who had twin boys and then twin girls - look through the threads on teh multiple births section it is probably still on there as we only tend to put posts on one thread (this one!).

FG - buy the house!! I want to move again - been here two years and I get bored easily.......

DTs decided to get up at 5 this morning and I didnt go to bed untl midnight so exhuasted (see cant spell). Now they are asleep again but I dont think I have time for a nap....YAAAAWN.

NedKelly1978 · 11/08/2006 16:21

Aaaaggghhhhhhh!

dt2 has jsut appeared - I put him in bed!!!

Somehow he has learned to climb out the cot How will I ever get him to stay in there now! They can already climb in and out of their highchairs, this is jsut gettign absurd.

He's going to be jumping over with dt1 and runnign downstairs. He's only 16mnths, it'll be everest by the time he's 4.

Please, does anyone have a magical solution?

harrogatemum · 11/08/2006 18:00

a straitjacket?

MarscusGarvey · 11/08/2006 18:02

like I said Kelly.... you'll feel right at home here lol!

How's it going HM?

Need to go watch athletics now!

Overrun · 11/08/2006 21:00

What a nightmare, Nedkelly (this name makes me smile for reasons already explained) DT1 has climbed out of his cot at home but hurt himself and has not done it for a while, I also posted about the other one climbing out of his travel cot. If you think of any ways of stopping yours let me know. I like the comfort of thinking I've put them in their cot, they can't get out, I know exactly where they are, they can't cause any damage. If that reassurance is taken away from me I don't know what I will do

tracykb · 11/08/2006 22:21

Hi Nedkelly and overrun

You've probably already thought of this, or it's been discussed elsewhere, but do your houdini's wear sleeping bags in their cots? They might help to stop them actually climbing out (although it's not unheard of ). If they are good at undoing zips, try getting ones that zip round the bottom rather than down the middle (iyswim) and then tuck the zip end in so they can't get at it.

A friend had a similar problem, although when her daughter couldn't climb out, she resorted to undoing her sleeping bag, sleepsuit, vest and nappy and then going back to sleep, only to wake later in a sopping wet, cold bed. The zip trick foiled her though.

FG - I love the idea of completely renovating an old house, but not sure I could cope with the chaos. We're knocking down a wall in about a month and having completely new floors throughout the ground floor and I'm decamping to my mum's for the majority of the time the work's going to take (she'll be on holiday, otherwise staying with her would probably be more stressful than living through the chaos ). Good luck if you decide to go for it.

Speedymama - there's a mum on the TAMBA message board who has two sets of twins...can't remember whether they're b/g, g/g or b/b but I think they're about 3 and 11 months.

Hi traceybk,
good idea, just think they might be a bit hot in this weather, and a bit expensive to buy two sleeping bags if they just scream when put in them as I predict they will.
Having said that, I really appreciate the advice, and if one of them gets out again I may seriously consider your suggestion, thanks for your time

MarscusGarvey · 12/08/2006 13:43

tracykb.... 3 and 11 months. Oh dear Lord. All I can say is thank goodness for only one set and has anyone seen the doctor's sterilization kit? lol

NedKelly1978 · 13/08/2006 19:06

Thanks for the suggestions tracey. For now we have it sussed - we have blocked off both ends of the cot and he can't get out again!
Though, I might invest in some straitjackets...

Hoepfully I am off on holiday tues - if we ever get there! Have fun without me, and look forward to catching up with you in a few weeks.

Overrun · 14/08/2006 09:10

Have a great time nedkelly. I think mine climb over the sides so not sure that blocking the ends would help. they haven't done it for a while so fingers crossed.
Are you using travel cots when you are on holiday? We are going away this weekend and i am dreading dt2 climbing out again, we haven't seen these friends for a long time. I just have visions of not getting any eveing time with them without the kids. they are childless, so although are really good about having children to stay, there is a certain expectation that they can a have a relaxed adult evening with us

MarsLady · 14/08/2006 21:41

Once upon a bedtime two angelic creatures clasped their milk and said night night.

Their gorgeous mother kissed them and closed the door and went downstairs where she proceeded to clean the kitchen and use MN.

The aforementioned gorgeous mother sent her DD1 to bed. She had stayed up late with permission and because gorgeous mother was on MN and couldn't be arsed to send her before.

A great cry came from upstairs. DD1 was sobbing uncontrollably. The angelic creatures had become candidates for adoption and/or military school. They had broken into the toilet and taken a bottle of toilet duck. They somehow managed to open said bottle and pour the contents all over DD1's bed and carpet. It was clear to gorgeous mother that they had been rolling in it. Their bodies were a pale shade of green. She sniffed their mouths and was reasonably convinced that they hadn't drunk any.

Gorgeous mother was last seen distributing leaflets along the road which said..........

"Darling Twins need new home. Gorgeous boy with chocolate drop eyes and gorgeous girl with same. Beautiful long curls. Love most foods and toilet duck. Please collect immediately!"

Overrun · 14/08/2006 21:48

god what a total nightmare! It's fatal to relax even for a second

MarsLady · 14/08/2006 21:50

for a second I thought you were offering to take them overrun! lol

Xena · 14/08/2006 21:52

MarsLady · 14/08/2006 22:00

You know it wouldn't have been quite so bad if they'd poured some down the toilet first!
