A new thread!
Especially for throckenholt

I was hoping the original one would go to 1000, but it was gettign a but annoying scrolling all the way done, so come over here instead.

How is everyone coping with the school holidays?

I'm fed up with the rubbish weather, as we're stuck in the house too much. I daren't take them to soft play as it packed during the hols and then I can't watch all four of them. Plus it costs a fortune.
Mine are changing so much. Rav is becoming a right wuss, scared of new places. I suppose it shows awareness, but it is annoying when I've driven miles for a nice day out and he just wants to sit and whine because he is too scared to go on anything! Shay is developing his houdini skills, and now has a tendancy to bolt out of parks so I have to watch him like a hawk. I must dig out the reins before we go on holiday.

Isn't Ina May inspirational? I've just been reading one of her books. I wish I'd known about her and had a doula for my births. Wow!

It's hard being dependant on someone else, but surely that's what a partnership is about? It's only for a wee while honey. Maybe he could set up a direct debit that goes into your account once a month. It might feel more like your own money then.

Hi Devondris

Having twins of different colours always causes people to do a double take. Basically, one looks like me (I'm black) and one like DH (who is white). The one like DH has fair hair, pale skin and blue eyes which literally sparkle. The one like me has brown hair, brown eyes and brown skin and is gorgeous, like me.

I have been "questioned" a number of times by complete strangers if the blue eyed one belongs to me - I just smile sweetly and say yes.

They are natural, fraternal twins but even so, the difference in appearance is remarkable - I would not have expected that of twins to be honest.

waterfalls · 19/08/2006 08:57

Does anyone fancy looking after my dts and ds today? dh at work all day and I have only had 4 hours sleep...........please...........pretty please?

MarsLady · 19/08/2006 19:12

Speedy............. you mean they haven't asked you deeply personal questions about the conception? I remember reading an article about twins of different colours... oh the crap that people would spout. I did worry about it happening to me. Part of me thought it would be exciting, the other part knew I'd end up in Holloway cos some arse would say something and I'd lose it.

What's confusing me is that I know that you're black, but I keep imagining you as white.... Don't ask babe... my mind is one big boggle!

MarsLady · 21/08/2006 00:30

speedy... I worked out my confusion. I've been reading your name as spidermama.... but you're not spider... you're speedy.

devondoris · 21/08/2006 13:56

White spiders??? That does sound confused...

Mine are natural conception too, but I don't know yet if they're MZ or DZ - they've got 2 of everything (womb-wise, of course, rather than heads each) so until they're out I won't know. But of course they'll be gorgeous whatever they are, just like yours!! I think fortunately there aren't too many people in my part of Devon so hopefully I won't get too many of the rubbish questions - most local people know already, so many questions have already been asked before I'm in a hurry to get somewhere fast to feed, change, school, doctor...

Ina May is fantastic, isn't she? Just makes it all so easy, which is what it should be. I read (naturally) yesterday that twin births are not normal, and pretty much in the same paragraph that 1 in 80 births in the UK are twin births (that statistic is from before fertility treatment upped the figures). Forgive me, but that sounds like quite a 'normal' ratio to me. So good for Ina May to make birth normal again.

I'm not sure that DH would go for the dd to my account - we have a joint account, and I think he thinks that that's OK. He's not so hung up about these things as I am! You are, of course, right about partnership. I think we've lived apart for such a long time now during the week that it's difficult to talk about stuff and also to rely on each other in the way that we should. It'll come back when he moves down... just after the boys are born. What a good time to be thinking about getting a relationship on track!!

Talking of DH, he said last night, "Oh god, I suppose we've got a week of sleepless nights after the boys are born." He meant it. A week. I muttered something about '3 months if we're lucky' before he fell soundly asleep and didn't hear DD needing a wee... A lot of learning to come, I think.

tracykb · 22/08/2006 15:04

Hi FG welcome back, you've been much missed. How lovely to have a brand shiny new computer...v. jealous.

Hope to hear more of your news when your fingers are less sweaty .

xx

leogaela · 22/08/2006 17:52

Devondoris, you really must have had an easy time of it with your dd if your dh thinks a week of sleepless nights is the worst it gets!
I've asked the twins very very nicely to be nice calm good sleeping babies, if the 2 of them are like ds i think i'm going to go completely loopy!

the news has sunk in now and the fears and worries about being a twin mum is subsiding! Can't wait to get the next few months out of the way and have my little angels safely here !

frumpygrumpy · 22/08/2006 20:08

Hi Tracy, its nice to be missed thank you! There's so many new fingers on here that I've got lots of catch up to do!!

Welcome leogaela! I've been awol for a while since my pc died a few weeks ago. I'm usually on here most days in some shape or form (often crying, sometimes flashing my leg hair, occasionally singing). I have a DD (5.5) and DTs (newly 2) and its mayhem but luckily just a hairsbreath more of fun mayhem than crappy mayhem. Then I read Mars' post about toilet duck and I feel something horrendous on the horizon........ When are you due?

I've just poured a glass of something nice so I'm off to round up all the jobs, fire through them and settle down on MN for a little while to satisfy my aching heart.

MarsLady · 22/08/2006 20:10

Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All is right with the world again. FG is back!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome back honey. We've missed you Really really about your new computer. I want one. I want one.

MarsLady · 22/08/2006 20:10

Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All is right with the world again. FG is back!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome back honey. We've missed you Really really about your new computer. I want one. I want one.

MarsLady · 22/08/2006 20:10

See how much I missed you! lol

frumpygrumpy · 22/08/2006 21:47

Hey Mars! Ah its like finding your old slippers isn't it!!!! With my computer and your desk, we're two halves of the same biscuit babe. Wanna go on top?

MarsLady · 22/08/2006 21:48

Thought you'd never ask!

frumpygrumpy · 22/08/2006 22:53

I've added a home waxing kit to the Tesco shop . Alongside my Fishermans Friends.

MarsLady · 23/08/2006 20:59

Butter and blimming oil!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what my kitchen was covered in when I got home today. Butter and blimming oil!!!!!!!!

Oh yes the DTs had struck again. Not content with Toilet Duck but butter and blimming oil.

They were covered, the units were covered, the floor was covered. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Who wants them?

I will be so happy when this phase is past.

To those that thought the house of Mars was a place of tranquility...... not any more.

To those that are planning to stay here the night of the Christmas meet up..... are you sure?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have posted a thread like this but would hate for my gorgeous twin/triplet mums to miss out on the joy that is my life! Sigh..................

frumpygrumpy · 23/08/2006 22:27

Bloody, bloody, bloody hell! They couldn't possibly have picked a worse thing to smear about. Oh Mars, you need extreme makeover home edition to just waltz right in and sort it. My two are fight, fight, fighting (earlier, not atm) and with DD as well and the noise is driving me bonkers...........but its definitely preferable to your kitchen. Did they know they had tipped you over the edge?

I can send soap, sponges and a wee, tiny catering pack of after eights if it will help .

Stay alive, no matter what occurs.

MarsLady · 23/08/2006 22:29

The after eights would be especially welcome fg.

They had a big bath.. I washed their hair (that'll learn 'em).

They were sent to bed.

Grrrrrr............... so... weren't you just saying you wanted two more? lol

frumpygrumpy · 24/08/2006 10:16

I was thinking you could have filled the kitchen sink with water and a whole bottle of washing up liquid, turn the taps on full and called in the insurers!!

My DD went back to school today . I love having her about even if it is more chaotic.

I saw loads of mums skipping away or chatting about how good it is to have school back. I just don't feel like that. I like taking her to the fair and driving waaaaaay too fast on the dodgems. Roll on 2.50pm.

leogaela · 24/08/2006 13:09

Hi all, i've been lurking the last couple of days and reading your posts with some amusment !

FG, I'm 11weeks2 today, 40 weeks due date is 12th March. Its so nice that you enjoy having your dd at home with you and not at school. Sounds as if you are a good fun mum !

Tomorrow I'm off to the doctor again to see how things are going. I always get that sinking worrying feeling that something is wrong before I go to the doctor !

I'll try to log on tomorrow and let you all know how it went! Tomorrow though we are packing for holiday and I know dh won't give me a moments peace (unless I go to bed and sleep!)! On saturday early we are off on holiday (to Tuscany) for 3 weeks ! Ooooh, i can't wait !!!!!!

frumpygrumpy · 24/08/2006 13:59

Hi Leo.....lurking? Lurking? Oh we don't do that here, not on this watch! .

I don't know about a good fun mum . I always was wih DD then the DTs turned everything pear shaped. This summer I feel more like myself than I have for a long time (if you're ever stuck for something to do you could read through our old thread, I fell apart on there but seem to have made it through again). I found the change to my relationship with DD unbearable at times but I think we've all adjusted to being a family of 5 now.

The weird thing is when DP is away (he works away during the week) I always think of it being the 3 of us and its the 4 of us. I hate doing it but I sometimes say it before I realise. Never quite got over the twin thing!!

ANYWAAAAAAAYYY. Tuscany eh. 3 weeks! 3 long, sultry, balmy, breathe out and breathe in weeks. That sounds like absolute heaven. Hope your doctors visit goes well, is it a check up or is there something in particular? I felt like I was poked, prodded and looked at like a freak show when pg with the DTs even though it was all perfectly straightforward!

Must go, the DTs are meant to be napping. DT1 is being the perfect angel and snoozing peacefully but DT2 has resisted a day nap since we came back from holiday. He is atm thumping hell out of the wall next to his cot. I'm going to label him and send him to Mars, she'll know what to do.

Damn, I've done it again. I just can't DO short posts.

leogaela · 24/08/2006 14:41

Oh FG, sorry about the lurking , it was more that I'm at work and every time I was going to post I got distracted!

How old are your dts? Are they identical?

In Switzerland its standard to see and obst/gynae through the whole pregnancy. He will be the doctor around at the birth (actually doing the cs in this case). for a singleton or normal pregnancy I would see him every month, but I think he will want to see me more often for a twin pregnancy (as often as the health insurance will pay for I should imagine!). He wanted to see me before i go on holiday, just routine I guess, he will also probably do a scan. I know what you mean about hte prodding and the poking, that's why i didn't bother to go to see him this pregnancy before I was 10 weeks.
