A new thread!
Especially for throckenholt

I was hoping the original one would go to 1000, but it was gettign a but annoying scrolling all the way done, so come over here instead.

How is everyone coping with the school holidays?

I'm fed up with the rubbish weather, as we're stuck in the house too much. I daren't take them to soft play as it packed during the hols and then I can't watch all four of them. Plus it costs a fortune.
Mine are changing so much. Rav is becoming a right wuss, scared of new places. I suppose it shows awareness, but it is annoying when I've driven miles for a nice day out and he just wants to sit and whine because he is too scared to go on anything! Shay is developing his houdini skills, and now has a tendancy to bolt out of parks so I have to watch him like a hawk. I must dig out the reins before we go on holiday.

if thats the case - when is the harmful time for having a drink? Looking for a good excuse to have one now!

largeginandtonic · 12/11/2006 19:53

Ummmmm, not sure really. Hope you get agood nights sleep HM im struggling already and i only have a mini bump!

Have a hot choc with one of the baileys in it that cant do any harm and will send you off to sleep

harrogatemum · 12/11/2006 20:35

have stuck to the soda water tonight - this pregnancy I have been mad for fizzy drinks, I am sure it hasnt been good for me but cant help it so I drink low cal fruit fizzy stuff from Sainsburys and loads and loads of soda water. I have also (just like last time with the DTs) got addicted to certain smells towards the end of my pregnancy - I keep sniffing them deeply like a strange craving - they are my Clarins treatment oil for stretchmarks, GList dishwasher tablets (I know I am a freak, you dont have to tell me) and petrol............

If this baby comes out normal it will be a miracle.

largeginandtonic · 13/11/2006 11:41

Lol HM i used to love certain smells to, petrol was one of them, i would linger in the garage forecourt probably looking very dodgy! I like polish too, you would think it would make me clean but no...i just used to spray it round and pretend it was air freshner

Have you got any names yet or are you waiting to see what it looks like?

Im munching hob nobs i love them so much, this baby may come out looking like one!

frumpygrumpy · 13/11/2006 15:09

Poor DD has chicken pox now. I didn't get much sleep last night and I can hardly keep awake!

HM I think during the pg is the dangerous bit. I don't want to encourage bad behaviour but I think most of the growing is done now and I think a small gin of an evening would be just fine if you feel like it. I might get balled out for that but I reckon the body always tells you whats what i.e. I couldn't have had a drink even if I'd wanted one when pg. You are putting me to shame with your oganisation - is christmas coming or something?!!!

Hope everbody well.

That is fantastic news Kelly, I'm really pleased for you

I just want to say aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh and that's about it really, other than, why is it that a MIL can make you wish you hadn't had a couple of days off whilst she looked after the DTs by totally indulging them and turning them into spoilt brats would have rather not had a night out and a lie in for the hell I've had to put up with since they came back

largeginandtonic · 13/11/2006 21:03

That is brill news Kelly, it has made me think there may be hope for my DD. She has never really taken to school and is so far behind in everything, she gets extra help with reading and numeracy. I had just assumed that it meant she just is not very academic but her teachers have been telling me not to worry yet. I believe them now! We moved in the summer and they all changed school, it seems much better.

Thank you so much for the proud moment, it has made my day, and a huge well done to your DD for coming such a long way

HM how are you this eve? Having a quiet gin.....

Bummer on the pox, at least its not boiling weather which can make the itching worse and anthihistamines make them sleepy...oooops bad mummy comment

Kelly1978 · 13/11/2006 21:53

thank you so much for not makign me feel totally indulgent!

earlysbird - I go through the same thing every week, so I can deeply symapathise. I've even had a behavourist round for my dts and still all my hard work is undone ny the weekend when they go round the in laes, get high in sugar, get spoilt rotten and come back like littel devils again. I jsut cling on to the thought that eventually they will learn that there are different rules her to at the out law s

morning all - I am the same! Still pg....no gin....DH gone back to London so actually hopingnothing occurs until at least Thursday when he is back now! DTs birthday yesterday was fab - we went to the Railway Museum in York where they ran around shouting "Choo Choo" at the tops of their voices for an hour and a half, then were naughty and had McDonalds for lunch.......

Followed by lots of friends coming round in the afernoon with various Thomas the TE related gifts in the afternoon which of course they were very over excited about! I even made a chocolate cake which my Mum criticised........."the icing on the top and in the middle is too soft". Oh well.......we cant all be perfect can we?

leogaela · 14/11/2006 09:45

Just dropping in quickly to say hello! All doing well here, I just haven't managed to find time to catch up properly! I'm sleeping a lot (while I can ), which is seriously cutting into my mn time!

Hope everyone is well, will try to catch up properly soon!

Overrun · 14/11/2006 13:02

Hello,
HM, keep thinking of you, hope the baby doesn't decide to make an appearance while your dh is away, but lets face it, its bound to happen
Kelly, lovely news about your dd. My brother struggled at school, was in the remdial classes (what an awful term), and went on to get a first at degree level. Hope that is reassuring to you as well largeginandtonic.
Leogeola, keep resting, you have to store up a lot of forty winks

harrogatemum · 14/11/2006 15:11

Hi overrun - you are probably right! I have made sure I have no nights alone now - my Mum is coming to stay tonight and tomorrow FIL arrives from Cyprus for a week (and is a GP so handy to have around) so have people here basically up to and including my due date of 24th Nov which makes me feel a bit happier!

Just been out for a mammoth lunch - its my friends birthday on Friday and I offered to buy her lunch instead of a present - just had smoked salmon, roast lamb and banoffee pie and feeling extremely bloated. BAby hasnt moved today and wondering if its because it cant move with the mountain of food resting on top of it!

frumpygrumpy · 14/11/2006 15:32

Kelly, I'm delighted at your news!! How fantstic, bet that makes you feel like you are doing something right! How is DS1 getting on now he's settled into his playgroup? (Is that the right word?)

My DT2 has also come down with pox and I'm feeling very sorry for myself. I think its running about meeting everyones needs but your own, plus noise of tantruming children, plus the mountain of stuff that builds up whilst you are being nursemaid......no sleep...... oh dear.

DD's pox is right inside her bottom and everywhere basically . I asked DP if there was any hope he could come home earlier......but I doubt it.

[mega pissed off emoticon] Hope Y1 and/or 3bob aint reading , if you are, just let me wallow, I'm smiling as well.

Kelly1978 · 14/11/2006 16:00

that sounds awful fg, get them all in bed nice and early and relax this evening. Maybe glass of wine and a bath?

ds1 is doing really well too thanks. I had a good chat with his pre-school teacher today and she is really pleased with his progress. I'm so happy to see them both doing well and being happy themselves.

I'm spent most of the day with my head down the loo tho! I'm not sure if it is a bug or jsut too much wine, but I'm not usually sick the day after drinking. Fingers crossed that it clears up before tomorrow, at least today the boys were with the cm for the morning.

hm, don't babies usually go quiet jsut before labour starts? I can feel a birth announcement coming on.

Thanks Kelly, sorry to hear you have the same problems with yours! Its partly down to the 'much loved' older cousin, 5.5, who has been looked after by them alot and whose every whim is indulged, the DTs adore her and copy everything she does, which we can deal with if we're there but I suspect goes unnoticed when we're not...I also think I had higher hopes of the inlaws as MIL is retired nursery teacher and FIL retired priamry teacher, you'd think they'd know how to say 'no' wouldn't you Ho hum, had resolved not to drink on weeknights this week, but am already struggling

FG sounds like a nightmare for you at the mo, hope that smile is painted on whilst you wallow away - mine is

HM am so jealous of your lunch, I had DTs leftovers which was not v much - made enough pasta for 2 adults, assuming this would do me and the 2 of them, and was left with about 3 mouthfuls! Their appetites are huge since returning from inlaws. Hope baby behaves until DH returns

Overrun · 14/11/2006 16:31

Oh dear Frumpygrumpy, that sounds awful, got its awful when they are both ill isn't? How are you doing Kelly, do things feel a bit easier now, or is still all ongoing. YOu seem to have stopped posting about it, unless I have missed it.
HM, how is your lunch settling now, baby started doing somersaults again Mind you they can't at that stage can they? Not enough room.

frumpygrumpy · 14/11/2006 18:32

Thanks girls, empathy was just what I needed. Kelly I will do early (ish) beds but the problem is keeping them sleeping. DDs itch is driving her nuts and Piriton is not helping much.... DT1's was over in about 4 days so we'll see.

Hi Overrun, hope you're well.

Hi HM, gosh is that a baby I see at your feet?

frumpygrumpy · 14/11/2006 18:33

Earlybird, yeah its painted on beautifully , with oil paints too .

frumpygrumpy · 14/11/2006 18:34

Oh FFS, I'm still pissed off

harrogatemum · 14/11/2006 18:57

I am an elephant and will finally give birth some time in the middle of next year.

harrogatemum · 14/11/2006 19:44

Just got a quick question for mothers of boys as well - at what age are their balls supposed to drop? DT1 seems to have done but DT2 I am not so sure.....I didnt really want to put a whole new thread on this topic and thought my trusty multiple friends could help me out!!

earlysbird · 14/11/2006 20:07

sorry hm no idea about the balls, mine are both girls

fg your smile sounds much lovelier than mine, I have sent DH out for crisps & fizzy sweets which always make me feel better (emotionally, if not physically!) and they go so well with the bottle of wine I'm planning to polish off
