A new thread!
Especially for throckenholt

I was hoping the original one would go to 1000, but it was gettign a but annoying scrolling all the way done, so come over here instead.

How is everyone coping with the school holidays?

I'm fed up with the rubbish weather, as we're stuck in the house too much. I daren't take them to soft play as it packed during the hols and then I can't watch all four of them. Plus it costs a fortune.
Mine are changing so much. Rav is becoming a right wuss, scared of new places. I suppose it shows awareness, but it is annoying when I've driven miles for a nice day out and he just wants to sit and whine because he is too scared to go on anything! Shay is developing his houdini skills, and now has a tendancy to bolt out of parks so I have to watch him like a hawk. I must dig out the reins before we go on holiday.

OMG send your DH round, purleeeease. I so wish I had a DH, I so wish I had a DH that was here, I so wish Ihad a DH that was here on week nights (when he is sorely needed as no one is ever ill at a weekend ), I so wish I had a DH here tonight to nip out and buy a big bag of sugar shit for me to munch and feel crapper but satisfied crapper IYKWIM.

BTW, lmao at balls dropping chat . I don't know what balls are [innocent]. Mars will have chat on that I'm sure, she's seen it all .

Overrun · 14/11/2006 20:46

poor you FG, I would really struggle without dh in the evenings. Don't know what else to do say.
HM, how old are your twins then (can't remember) I thought their balls didn't drop until they are in their teens. When the voices drop too, or am I talking a load of sh%%*?

earlysbird · 14/11/2006 20:49

he's on his way FG

frumpygrumpy · 14/11/2006 21:07

Thank you overrun, knowing you girls are here is enough, I just needed the moan. Kids are in bed (temporarily) and I have showered and I'm currently in bed with a plate of toast, lump of cheese, water, pot of tea and a single twix finger. Life aint so bad .

I'm going to watch some rubbishy telly and tuck myself up early I hope!

You girls are in bed with me, WE'RE PRACTICALLY SLEEPING TOGETHER .

harrogatemum · 14/11/2006 21:07

they are 2 - yesterday.......I dont know its just that I find myself comparing them so was just wondering out loud I guess! Where is Mars when you need her - she hasnt been around for a while!

FG - I know what its like - last night had DT2 up in the night......its a nightmare when you are doing it alone. DH has asked his boss if he can work from home from next week for a couple of weeks as he is so scared of missing the labour as it will take him at least 4 hours to drive back from London. Is that where your DH is mid-week? Did you decide not to live where he works for a reason (sorry if being too nosy!)

Dont suppose it will help if I mention that I bought myself a massive box of Black Magic in Asda today and am currently working my way through them - would you like a Lemon WHisper?

frumpygrumpy · 14/11/2006 21:07

And I haven't shaved .

frumpygrumpy · 14/11/2006 21:11
frumpygrumpy · 14/11/2006 21:18

Oooh HM jump in here, I'll have a chocolate and I'll share you a bit cheese and twix..... at poor offering.

My DP has been working in London for about 10 years. I loved spending weekends there before we had kids but now.....I feel a certain obligation to my family (although thats too strong a word, they'd hate it if they thought I felt that) to stay here. I also really love living here.

devondoris · 14/11/2006 21:22

Shhhh.... they're sleeping...

frumpygrumpy · 14/11/2006 21:24

Oh doris!! How great to hear from you!! Are you knackered?? Tearful?? Coping?? Do you keep walking in the room and get a fright and say to yourself "omg, there's two"?? xxxxx

harrogatemum · 14/11/2006 21:27

oooh thanks, pass me those bedsocks, my cramp is giving me some real gip - I have a small selection of cheese here myself - red leicester with herbs and some Port Salut, plus some HIghland oatcakes, if that suits.

Must be v difficult with him being away - I know you are in Scotland somewhere but not sure where - are you Scottish? Do you have family round there?

Sorry, was momentarily distracted by the size of Faith Brown's norks on I'm a Celebrity.........

largeginandtonic · 14/11/2006 21:28

Oooooh id lurve a lemon whisper, black magic are my fave!

Id love to be in bed watching tv FG, alas i have not got mine set up yet. Dh was posted away Sept 1st and has only made it home for 5 nights, a week ago, since. I need him to sort the ariel out for me. He is home on leave Dec 9th though so will have it ready for xmas tv nonsence.

Hope the baby stays put HM while Dh is away and the LO doesnt interrupt your yum choc.

Am off to watch the rest of Robert Winston on BBC1 and thank my lucky stars i have 5 lovely children and another on the way. The programme is likely to make me wail.....

frumpygrumpy · 14/11/2006 21:36

girls I'm alternating between Robert Winston and I'm a Celebrity...... don't know what makes me cry more .

HM I'm scottish with scottish family, a family that kind of needs me and, in any case, we are happy here, its just that DP is good at and enjoys his work and there is not really the same type of thing up here. Its catch 22, I encourage him to commit to his work but its at the expense of family. One day we will change it.

doris.....come back.....tell all xxx.

harrogatemum · 14/11/2006 21:36

LG&T - we are all minus our menfolk at the moment arent we? Can I interest you in a Butter Toffee?

devondoris · 14/11/2006 21:44

Sorry FG - that was really cruel, wasn't it??!! But thank you for the great reply!

I'm not sure if I should be feeling OK, but I actually am... so OK that I'd be worried about myself if it wasn't for getting very upset the first week after the boys were born because I managed to get myself stuck in an armchair with two babies and no one to help me out (mum bathing DD and DH putting up cot because DTs had grown out of crib already).

Control freak mother (I really should change my name) began the routine in hospital on 2nd night, and it seems to have worked so far. The boys are now fully breastfed at 3.5 hourly intervals, in tandem with fantastic Eze-2-nurse-twins blow up pillow, which means that I'm awake at 11pmish, 3.30ish and then everyone up at 7 - 7.30amish. DTs put on 8oz by 2nd week weighing, so it's not doing them any harm.

Do you know how long it's taken me to catch up on everything since my last post??? FOUR HOURS! And now mush brain can't remember everything that I read 3 hours ago. So, Kelly, fab DD news, hope everything else is going OK. FG - pox sounds awful and I really feel for you not having DH home during illness - you're right they are NEVER ill at weekends. HM - hellish last days, but it will be over soon! (I'm so excited that I actually want to drink gin again!) Leo - so glad that you've got a good obs - makes so much difference. Piximon - hope everything's going well - still haven't got the Elizabeth Noble book back, but there's loads of info in there about MA/DA - may be worth going to the library to see if you can get a copy until mine is returned.

Eeeesh - who have I missed? You're all fab and thanks so much for posting happy messages to us. I must go to bed for a bit now, but will do a separate post for birth details just in case anyone wants to know. May not happen for a day or two though! Trying to get things done before the boys begin to do things that Mummy doesn't want them to...

xxx all!

frumpygrumpy · 14/11/2006 21:49

Oh Doris I so wish you had been in my house when I brought my DTs home . So glad for you honey, sleep now, if they are you should be too. I won't post again tonight to give you noooo temptation. Glad you are well and the boys too, happy news!! We all paced like expctant fathers when you left . Night doris xx.

Overrun · 14/11/2006 22:12

congratulations again Doris, its lovely to hear from you. Wow about the routine, it sounds as if it is working
I am going to bed now FrumpyGrumpy, but no lovely snacks waiting for me, but hopefully some wonderful sleep.........
HM, our twin boys are only weeks apart, my two were two on the 22n of Oct. We have probably had this conversation before, but my brain is mush. Lol at comparing them, its hard not to, particularly when they are lined up in the bath, checking out each others tackle
My dt1 has a groin hernia, so his poor willy tends to disappear behind this when it is extended. He has just started to notice that its there and keeps prodding it atm. Dt2 was examining him the bath the other day. The same twin who was washing the other one. He is going to go into the caring profession

MarsLady · 14/11/2006 22:37

Doris Darling!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew you would post when I was out!

How fab to hear from you.

So wonderful that the boys are doing so well and growing so big! Missed you madly, but have tried to be patient and wait for you to come back. Can't wait to see your birth story. Maybe you should start it as a word document, so that you can type it between feeds etc, then you could cut and paste on here. lol

Dropping balls!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, is one descended and the other not HM? Also, does HD want dinner tomorrow? Not sure what I'm cooking yet as I'm off to Watford to do my Christmas shopping! I plan to finish my shopping tomorrow. I may make creamy chicken. I've got some lovely mushrooms that would work nicely with it. I'm on call for 2 mums at the moment, so I can't pop up and make your wee one come. Sorry!

Tracykb! Always good to see you babe!

Good to see you posting more earlybird. Hi lg&t!

Haven't been on for a few days, the laptop has been infected with viruses. I won't mention that my almost 14yo DS has been accessing some salubrious sites and that that's the reason for the viruses. I'm far more annoyed about the viruses than the sites he's been visting. The wee hormone charged swine.

Talk of balls dropping...................

Anyhoo, currently on a dial up as I can't find the Broadband software. Really annoying.

Learnt to say the alphabet in French yesterday. And also learnt different ways to say hello and ask how to get to the Grand Cafe which is situation in le place de la Gare! Had an online French tutorial yesterday as well. I have to say only the women seemed to know what they were doing. The blokes were thick as shite!

Reading Ghost Road by Pat Barker! Wow! Excellent book.

Anyhoo........ enough of me. Great news Kelly!

Love and kisses to you all

frumpygrumpy · 14/11/2006 22:45

Did you breathe Mars? You are getting more and more like me by the day .

Doris aint no bitch honey, she just started them on solids when they were good and ready .

DD can't settle tonight, she has pox spots in the folds of her front bottom . I'm away to start a thread for any suggestions other than aqueous calamine and metanium. She's so tired through lack of sleep from the previous 2 nights she is talking rubbish. She's just been crying and asking to leave the table .

MarsLady · 14/11/2006 23:43

FG......... that poor baby. Lots of piriton, benadyrl and cool baths (with oats in). And lots of kisses from Mars

earlysbird · 15/11/2006 09:23

Hi Mars I'm a French teacher so if you need any help...

FG I feel so sorry for your poor DD & it must be so hard for you not being able to soothe her

Doris I am so impressed by your routine every time I think back to those first weeks I want to go back and do it all again, I am still v angry with the way I was dealt with in hospital & subsequent impact on bf but won't rant just yet Good for you anyway and long may it continue

harrogatemum · 15/11/2006 12:13

Hi all - disappeared last night to.........no, not have a baby but my Mum turned up!

Good to have you back Doris - it sounds like you are fully in control of the twin babies situation...wow, I am v. impressed. What did you call them - or is there a birth announcment somewhere I should be looking for (mush brain is my middle name at the mo).

Mars - HD is coming home today - he has negotiated to work from home for a couple of weeks as we are so worried about him missing the birth........why I do not know as I now have it pencilled in for some time in early summer 2007.....you are very very kind to offer though, please give me some hints on how to be as nice as you (and BTW DH keeps on at me to make a Lemon drizzle cake - what did you do to him? No dont answer that.......). I laughed out loud when I read your post about your DS looking at dodgy sites - ah the joys to come!

Overrun - my two are just the same in the bath, they pull their willies and shout "WIWWY!" at the tops of their lungs. DH decided to let DT2 run around with no nappy on for 10 minutes the other day before bathtime and he squatted down and weed on the carpet a grand total of 3 times!

FG - thanks for the company last night...still feel bloated from the chocs....hope the pox is calming down a little bit for you.....

I have been to the midwife again this morning and she said the head is really low - infact she said if we had a look we could probably see the top if its head (ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww!) so all I need is a few contractions and I'm away.....

Right - I have rambled for long enough, am away to put my feet up and peruse my free M and S magazine (yes have just spent 2 hours Xmas shopping in town walking very slowly and only stopping to pull up my ridiculous under the bump jeans as they descend lower and lower and the residents of Harrogate are treated to the sight of HM's pubes - TMI, sorry!)

Overrun · 15/11/2006 13:13

HM, am so impressed by the ,xmas shopping. I am doing all mine online this year.
Marslady, with three boys, I really do have to resign myself to similar incidents in 12 years time lol
Frumpygrumpy, your poor dd. I don't know of any other creams. how is her temperature? If she is really really ill, should you take her to a gp? Just occasionally, chicken pox can be nasty enough if with high temp to need medical intervention

frumpygrumpy · 15/11/2006 14:30

HM CHRISTMAS SHOPPING!!!! I can't speak.

Overrun I've been waching her like a hawk but I think the worst is over. Thanks all for your votes of sympathy for DD. She had a difficult night but I'm pleased to say she is feeling much, much better today. DT2 is a bit grumbly, covered in spots (his bottom too, what is it about the pox and bottoms??) but, as yet, they aren't bothering him too much. Oats eh, I didn't know about that one, thanks Mars. The DTs love porridge so I could kill 2 birds.......

harrogatemum · 15/11/2006 14:45

am I a freak or something for having most of my Christmas shopping done? Is there no-one with me on this? Bought DH a pink jumper today - I think he is big and manly enough to get away with it, but it remains to be seen what his opinion is!!
