Have talked to all the contacts I have been given. On Tuesday when the last test results are back - and I am very sure they will be heartbreaking results that will involve my Dads gums and the horrible word Cancer - then the McMillan nurses will be able to begin and any other help they need. McMillan need the word 'cancer' to be on my Dads medical papers.

I cant see how it can be anything else....I just hope and pray that IF there is a God he allows my parents to fall asleep together and not wake up again. I was almost tempted to pray today BUT I tried that when the ambulance was racing Gareth and then Matthew to hospital.....it didn't work then and I can't see any reason why he would be listening to me now.

Sorry to be so miserable - my normal coping skills have deserted me. xx

Oh Shabs. There's nothing worse than having to parent your own parents. Especially when times are rough and you just want to be a child again and for mum and dad to take it all away, but they can't because they are the centre of the awfulness of it all.

thegirlinthesassyspace · 07/03/2013 18:01

bubby sorry you're struggling to get to sleep. I used to have that problem a lot! but I started having 20 minute reiki sessions and after 6 months I learnt how to get more of a relaxed mind (not sure how reiki works but i'm sure now things improved mainly because i forced myself to chill for 20 mins a week which I had forgotten how to)

thegirlinthesassyspace · 07/03/2013 18:07

Hiya all, the organisation homestart, which provides free help to mums of multiples once a week is in for a chance to raise some money from nationwide building society if we vote for them on the new nationwide website here your.nationwide.co.uk/thebiglocal
It's a bit like the waitrose green token system but it's done online.

If you have a spare second please do vote. Speaking from experience, Ive found the weekly volunteer they've placed with me a lifeline! Xx

Sokmonsta · 07/03/2013 19:45

Ooh sassy thanks for letting me know. Mine is an absolute treasure and has offered me an extra morning as we've been struggling with our eldest son.

bubby64 · 07/03/2013 20:09

thanks guys for voting. oh no, whats happened with your eldest son sok? Is he ok now?
Just having an hour break as twins having their nap in their pram in the garden...its still cold enough to have them wrapped up and they love to sleep in their snowsuits...can't get them to nap more than 30 minutes in the daytime without their snowsuits though,,,,not sure why!!! Oh well I suppose naps aren;t forever...must think of a way round for summer time though I suppose..any suggestions?
Luckily nighttime, I am extremely lucky now with them both sleeping 8-7ish...or if earlier with happy cooing noises usually until they fed up of waiting for me which takes us til about 7 on good days.....

My homestart volunteer is due here in an hour, and then thinking of driving the twins to look at a nursery nearby....its still months away but I'm excited about the prospect of them learning new things etc. Mainly excited about having some time and breathing space again.

Hope you are well, I'll try and login again soon, not so easy now with the twins awake more in the day...or with them only doing a 2 hour lunchtime nap if I take them out in the pram which means I'm out and about too...

I hope you get back on track with your sleep bubby, let me know if I can help at all...I'm a veteran bad sleeper, but in the past 2 years have found ways to get back on track when havig a bad period (usually cos too much going on up in the mind for me!)

xxx

bubby64 · 08/03/2013 13:04

Thanks for all the advice girlies re sleep. 3.30am I last looked at clock last night, up and doing at 7.15, and TBH, am absolutely shattered, but I just cant seem to settle even to have a nap.
M off school this morning, supposedly with a bad headache, but willing to go in this afternoon, it may have a lot to do with the fact he was due to do cross-country this am, as he is overweight, he gets teased a lot, which makes him even less willing to do exercise, its becoming a real issue, as he's putting on more weight nowSad.
It has not helped that DH had been doing the meals, and they were not as healthy as I would like, as a lot of the time it was stuff he could throw in the oven. Now I am cooking more, it is getting better, but I am still limited on getting the fresh ingredients I would normally get when out each day.
I have sat and had a talk with M, and said we will get back to foing our bit, but he must mske some effort to exercise himself. Since starting High School, he has given up football, tag rugby and swimming, and, although there are numrous free clubs both at lunch and after school, he hasnt stuck with anything. 3 lessons of PE a fortnight is not enough, he got more than that at Primary! He has now agreed to give boxing a go, and to start again to help dad walk the dogs each evening,(he stopped going when I was unable to walk them, as it was always our Mike and me timeSad ) He has also had a demo of dog agility at Young farmers last week, and wants to try it with BertieGrin

bubby64 · 08/03/2013 13:10

By the way, young Bertie is growing like a weed, he is already surprisingly muscular for such a young dog, although he will never be very big, and is like greased lighting up and down the garden, and you have never seen a little dog get up and down a flight of stairs so fast! Confused He would be brilliant at dog agility!Grin

bubby64 · 08/03/2013 13:14

oh, and in answer to your enquirie Chops, leg is getting better, I am able to walk and put a little weight on it now, but not for long. Just another 5 weeks in this caste nowHmm .

shabbatheGreek · 08/03/2013 13:18

Have you got a wrestling club anywhere near to you Bubby? Tom used to go to wrestling club and he lost quite a bit of weight. More due to the warm up they make the kids do Grin used to make me exhausted just watching him!!! Think most kids love wrestling.....just a thought x

Chopstheduck · 08/03/2013 14:42

sassy, sounds like they would benefit from being swaddled, mine would never sleep without being all tight and snuggly.

bubby, sounds like he does just need to find something he really enjoys. Shay has given up so many activities lately, but the only thing he really enjoys is cycling. Hopefully he will enjoy the boxing. Glad you are slowly recovering, and at least you will be out of the cast before the weather gets too warm.

I'm just back from galloping running around the racecourse a couple of times. Set a new personal best for 5k. Which reminds me, where are you hiding, rubes?

OP posts:
thegirlinthesassyspace · 08/03/2013 19:22

Always swaddle t2 but you're right, today for her cot nap I put some extra blankets tucked around her in addition to her swaddle and she slept for ages - had to wake her up! T1 not such a fan of swaddling ( altho she does lurve her snowsuit so maybe I should try again!) she fell asleep on the kitchen floor so I just left her there!

How is the jogging going everyone? I've just given up the idea of exercise maybe one day I'll have a tummy tuck haha!
I was wondering does anyone know when it's a good time to start using mild baby wash in the babies bath? Babies poos defo becoming more noxious and now they are finally chubby by around the legs like singletons they are getting stinkier round tge creases :-)

thegirlinthesassyspace · 08/03/2013 19:25

Ps. Re; swaddling again, is there a good way of swaddling in the summer - are certain blankets in addition to a thin Velcro swaddle ok to give them the extra snuggliness, or does that make it a bit too hot?

Sokmonsta · 09/03/2013 08:27

Sassy - remind me how old your twins are! I found large muslins made ideal summer weight covers for my two.

Our eldest boy (James, nearly 3) suffers typically from being middle child. Dh was worried about ADHD and things like that so we're getting a lot of support from our HV at the moment. He's very demanding, destructive, angry, immature in his emotional development etc. but very clearly not ADHD. He just doesn't get the time with me that he desperately needs Hmm

thegirlinthesassyspace · 09/03/2013 08:33

They are 4 months
Sorry to hear that, I hope things improve for you. Do they go to pre-school at 3? I suppose it can go either way when they do, although it must be nice for the parents!!

shabbatheGreek · 09/03/2013 11:00

Morning girls xx

bubby64 · 09/03/2013 15:41

Morning All.
Sassy - I made some lightwieght sleeping bags for my two in the summer, it made them feel secure, but they could still move a bit, I used light weight fleece with light cotten liners.

thegirlinthesassyspace · 09/03/2013 16:47

Did their arms stay inside or out? I'm just wondering what's best to try arm-wise as t2 wakes up if her arms are out of tge swaddle :-S

bubby64 · 09/03/2013 21:37

Hi sassy, Yes, the arms were out, and I just used to put them in little vests before putting them in them, I had heavier weight ones for winter, and the light weight ones gor summer, you just adjusted what thry wore whilst in them.
