Blimey bubbly! It was this week last year that my James fell and chipped his tooth. He is fine but there is nothing they can do until all his big upper teeth have come through, he will probably need a brace and then when get are together it will be capped. I hope your little man is ok

Tom is being fast tracked through his fookin French GCSE and the oral tests are tomorrow Shock stupid bloody school. He shouldn't be doing these for another 18 months and I personally think its pathetic. He is a giant bundle of nerves. His primary are the only one in our area that never, ever did a language!!!! So every pupil who went there is at a big disadvantage at high school. He has been in tears tonight. Have told him to keep shouting Greek words in between and tell them he has torrets syndrome!!! We have been revising together for a week and have just finished a 3 hour revising marathon. Oh I wish he was still a toddler...even though he didn't ever, ever sleep...remember that Trips? Grin

Indeed I do Shabs, indeed I do...............God knows how you survived. Ridiculous school situation, the pressure applied is awful. Its not only not fair on the pupil its as stressful for the parents. Does Derkster come with you for the parent/teacher consultations? H has never been to one with me, so in three weeks time he is in for a shock, he is going to be there. I have to work my way through 21 teachers, its a free for all, get in where you can, takes me over 2 hours. Well he keeps saying the bloody school is no good, they are learning nothing, never hardly get homework etc, so its about time he showed his face......................................so there!!

Bubbly.................poor poor James, must have really hurt. Such a shame..............hope it doesn`t turn out to be as bad as they think. xx

He has been to parents night with me but he usually wriggles out of it. Have been showing Tom how to remember some of the words. He has to describe his school uniform in French - wether he likes it, what are the colours etc. There are 6 questions read out to them, in French, and they have to have written out their 3 minute answers to each one....then learn them!! I stood up and did like a fashion show walk showing the different parts of the uniform. He LOL and said he would remember that. There are a few really good kids at his borstal school and they are being fastracked through a lot of their GCSE's...it is to make the school look good. All it does for the year 10's is make them stressed and worried.

triplets · 14/11/2011 22:32

Hiya me awd mucker....xx
Our school do the same in yr 10 and for the very brightest they fast track from yr 9!
I will have no voice left in a minute, the boys are carrying on still, drives me demented Angry

Feel so sorry for your Tom, Shabs. It does seem unfair to put those kids under such stress just for the school to look good. Wish him good luck from us over here.
James seems ok tonight, at least he is not in too much pain now. Mike got very upset, he went from wanting to murder his brother one minute to crying in anxiety and wanting to be with him all the time. Twins, ehWink

Morning girls xx

Hopstheduck · 15/11/2011 07:56

Aww that's sweet bubby, hope the tooth has been saved.

Poor Tom :( if he is doing gcses now, will he have less to do in year 10? Don't they get a choice of whether they want to do it early? Dd's school does fast tracking too, though I doubt she would be eligible for it.

Trips, shabs, I had no idea that you both had know each other so long?! I can only remember Shabs coming on here a few years ago. Where and how did you meet??

shabbapinkfrog · 15/11/2011 08:42

I cant figure out how the system works to be honest. I know that even though he has done his fasttrack Maths he will have to repeat it in Year 11??? The idea was that if they get through things like French in year 10 they will have a chance to do a different GCSE in Year 11???????????????????? Which is crazy because in year 11 they start in September and finish the following Easter for home revision study (as if anybody will be doing that!!) I have no idea what is actually going on but Tom does!!! LOL

When my DS3 died in 1992 I was already a member of the self help group The Compassionate Friends. I got their newsletter one morning and there was Trips story....the name Matthew jumped off the page at me. I think I wrote to her and that was the beginning of our friendship. When I was having Tom - Trips was having her lovely brood. We have only met up once - think it was about 9 years ago when Trips came up to Manchester for a mutual friends party. xx
