welcome KTW. I have been on this thread for a while but am never organised enough to make any of the outings and eldest is at nursery so tend to have to stay local so I can pick her up on time!

Welcome KTW.

I can join you for lunch but only for an hour. I have also have a bad bout of eczema so will have to stay off ALL seafood. Bummer! But it would be lovely to see everyone

mellow2 · 30/01/2007 13:13

Sorry - I can't come for lunch. I've got too much work to do. I think I'm going to accept lunch invitations until after I finish this mad project in March.

Hope you all had a good time.

mellow2 · 30/01/2007 13:13

I mean "not" accept invites.

snowmum · 30/01/2007 17:49

KTW, Wyls and Champagne - great to see you all for (a very long!) dim sum lunch. We must do it again sometime. Perhaps we should plan for an Oriental City meet up in April?

Mellow, sorry you couldn't make it. We wondered where you were and I did text you but to your old mobile. Hope you can make the next one.

wyls · 30/01/2007 20:13

Hi, it was great to finally meet you, snowmum and KTW. So sorry that we were so late. And also sorry about my DS bad behaviour, I hope your DD is ok and not too traumatised by the whole experience.

We must sort out a meet at oriental city in April.

Snowmum, dont forget to send me the tofu recipe please.

Champagne, please send me the pics when you have a mo.

Mellow2, shame you couldnt make it today but hope you can make the next one.

Speak soon.

mellow2 · 30/01/2007 21:26

I feel really bad that I missed this since I suggested the original meeting date. I think all bets are off until I finish this contract end March. It's a madhouse at the moment and I don't think I'll find time to go out to lunch at work.

Hi snowmum,
I've just reading the posts properly and have just seen your questions. Dd slept from 11 to 12 midnight to 6 am previously and I coulnd't call because I didn't have your mobile number with me in the office.

I'll send you an e-mail with my work mobile.

wyls · 01/02/2007 10:17

It's ok mellow, it's just one of those things. I went into the office yesterday and I was so busy that i didnt even have time to go to the loo. I managed to have my lunch at 3pm and I just dont know where the time goes.

I am so tired today, my ds was up from 11pm -2am last night, screaming and crying. I have no idea why, I just dont know what to do anymore.

I went to the parents evening at my DS's nursery last night and I was very amazed with what they were telling me. In general, he's a very caring child, willing to share and gets on with everyone. He's not shy with strangers, very easy going and a very good eater. I was like are you talking about the same person here?

I am not saying my DS is a total nightmare but he is definitely not willing to share when he is at home and he has started to hit other children. Snowmum will tell you.

Do you have similar experience with your child, good as gold when they are with someone else but a nightmare when they get home or with you?

And any suggestions about the hitting? It's so embarrassing.

champagne18 · 01/02/2007 10:23

Hi everyone, It was very nice to meet you all on Tuesday. Finally we can put a face to our nicknames. Apologise for being so late again, my dentist appointment was over run.

wyls, I have emailed photo's to your hotmail account. Hope you got them.

I look forward to then next meet up.

snowmum · 01/02/2007 16:03

Champagne, honestly no worries on being late. It gave KTW and I time to catch up on news. Have to admit I've not had a 3 hour lunch before! If this is what's its like to be a lady who lunches - then I'm up for it!

Mellow, got your email. Forgot to say I have a new email address - I replied to you from it. Hope you can make the next meet up - whenever that is!

Wyls, have sent you the recipes. Hope your DS likes them! DD was fine after our lunch, no trauma at all - she gets far worse from her cousins! I think kids do play up to their parents cos they know they can get away with it. I get all of DD's bad behaviour and DH gets all her smiles. I read somewhere that kids feel more secure with their main caregiver (usually mum) and aren't afraid to be difficult/grumpy/naughty etc whilst they put on a "social" face to everyone else. Apparently its a compliment to you that DS feels comfortable enough with you to show you all sides of his personality!

Sorry to hear you had a bad night with DS and are feeling tired. Perhaps its still his teeth? I don't know. I find the same with DD, she sleeps worse now than she did as a baby. More often than not she wakes at night and refuses to go back to sleep. She cries like she's really scared too. I wonder if she's having bad dreams. I have to confess we generally just bring her to our bed and sleep together.

Is it worth trying to set a date for the next meet up in Oriental City in April? Are we thinking weekdays or weekends? Over the Easter break or avoiding it?

teacakes · 01/02/2007 22:14

Sounds like you had a lovely lunch - gosh if I was in a restarant for 3hrs, I'd gain a stone with the amount of food I'd eat!!!

Love to join you all if you have another lunch date.

WYLS, I know what you mean about your kids appearing like a different person with others. When DD and I go to baby groups, she is quiet shy and just likes to hold my hand or sit on my knee and watch other people. When I was walking her to the docs the other day, she was kicking off her wellies and struggling so I could not hold her tight and then started rolling around on the floor! I sometimes feels she is picking on me .

Snowmum, we are on the 20.20 flight on the 11th, but still might bump into you!

snowmum · 05/02/2007 11:05

Teacakes, we are planning to get to Heathrow around 4pm-ish. You'll recognise me as the harrassed-looking chinese woman saying "no! don't touch!" to an over-excited toddler! Can't believe this time next week we'll be in HK! Been busying buying gifts for family and friends the past few days.

Autumn, do you still want me to buy you some dvds? I'm planning to send the stuff direct to you so can you pls email me your address?

T2BG, do you want me to get something for you as well?

Mellow, do you still want me to get some chinese children's books for your DD?

Wyls - got your wishlist!

autumnlover · 05/02/2007 20:12

Have a great time snowmum! So So So . just emailed you my address.

mellow2 · 05/02/2007 21:33

Snowmum,
I would still like some Chinese childrens' books please. I haven't asked my single friend as she wouldn't know what to buy. Could you get me a selection of what you're buying for your dd? When are you flying now?

wyls · 06/02/2007 14:30

hey did anyone see that program on Channel4 last night?

breadgirl · 06/02/2007 16:28

Have a fab time in HK Snowmum and Teacakes!
I don't know if you know, or even if it is still there, but when i used to go shopping around Causeway Bay and Times Square, i'd go into the Times Square building, and up a few floors (by the glass lifts) there was a kids playground. It's not huge, but it's got some activity, slide, etc .. all fenced in and free.

Wyls, do you mean the 12 yr old girl looking after her younger siblings? I watched the last 10 mins of it, but it was still quite shocking.

wyls · 07/02/2007 08:52

BReadgirl, i didnt know there a playground there, is it still there?

And yes that was the program, it's totally heartbreaking and i still havent got the program out of my head.

snowmum · 07/02/2007 21:39

Mellow, that's fine. Would you please email your address as I am planning to send stuff direct to people from HK.

Autumn, got your email thanks.

Breadgirl, thanks for the tip! Planning to go shopping in Causeway Bay anyway so will deffo check out the kids playground. Will let everyone if its still there!

Wyls, didn't see the program. Was busying getting my chores done so I could sit and enjoy ER!

mellow2 · 07/02/2007 21:53

Thanks very much, snowmum. I've sent you my e-mail.

mellow2 · 07/02/2007 21:53

I mean I sent you an e-mail with my address.

KTW · 10/02/2007 08:20

snowmum and teacakes, have a good trip to Hong Kong and I'm sure you will have lots and lots of funs ... I miss many things in Hong Kong after leaving 9 months. I heard from my friend in Hong Kong yesterday that it was very hot last week. But remember to bring jackets for you and your family as there is air-conditioning everywhere and you may feel really cold indoors (believe me, I found myself sitting in a fridge sometimes). Also, don't worry about forgetting to bring anything, you can find everything you need and it is much cheaper in Hong Kong.

For all of you, have a great weekend.

snowmum · 11/02/2007 00:24

Ladies, thanks for all your good wishes. We are more or less packed. Just a few final odds and ends to do tomorrow morning. Its been a mad rush to get everything done in time this week. Added to this, my BIL was rushed into hospital last weekend for emergency appendicitis. He's back home now and on the mend but it gave us quite a fright.

Mellow, got your address. Wyls and Autumn, have your shopping wishlists!

Have a great Chinese New Year everyone - Happy Year of the Pig! Oink! Oink! Talk to y'all when I get back.

mellow2 · 11/02/2007 17:58

Have a good trip, snowmum. See you when you get back.
