ok how about the imperial china in lisle street? We can book a table and it is child friendly.

the website for Imperial China

Let me know and i will book a table.

snowmum · 25/01/2007 11:37

I'm not bothered what or where we eat. Happy to go for another dim sum place or pizza express or wherever. If people prefer dim sum, the only option I can think of is to get there earlier, say 12 or 12:30pm to get the large round tables. 1pm is peak time and does make it more difficult. We would have to queue. I would prefer a high chair for DD but can manage without it.

We did discuss the possibility of going to the Blue Kangaroo. It would suit those who are bringing their kids along. Thoughts on this option?

MomOnTheRun, hope your DD3 feels better soon.

Wyls, poor DS! Hope those pesky molars pop out soon.

snowmum · 25/01/2007 11:42

Happy with Imperial China.

wyls · 25/01/2007 11:56

Me too, he's got 4 coming through all at the same time!!! Poor thing.

Ok i will wait for the others to get back to me and i will book a table.

we should be ok to meet at 1pm. Champagne cant get there until 1pm anyway cos she has a dentist appointment in the morning.

champagne18 · 25/01/2007 12:02

Hi all,

there is joy king lau or Lido in china town. both are very child friendly, but i don't think they allow you to make reservations. I don't think china town will be that busy on a week day afternoon for dim sum.

Unfortunately, i can only make it after 1pm and China town (as dp is helping me to get buggy to china town and then he has to head back to work), dentist appointment is at 11.15 am. can't afford to cancel as i have been waiting over 2 months for this appointment.

I think we have a few options, shall we go with Wyls choice first and then Lido and joy king lau if they are fully booked. They are all pretty close to each other.

Do we need to swap numbers? just in case we miss each other?

champagne18 · 25/01/2007 12:07

I've always ordered food in chinese as i found that you always tend to get better service and especially if you call them leng jay or leng lui(pretty boy.girl). Born in the UK but went to study in HK.Therefore,Speak, read and write cantonese fluently. But written skills are a bit rusty now!

snowmum · 25/01/2007 19:47

Champers, isn't it a pain to have to wait 2 months for a dentist! Mmmm... maybe we should all get our kids to be dentists - there's obviously a huge gap in the market!

I think Wyls said that Imperial China accepts reservations for dim sum so hopefully we won't need to visit other restaurants.

Wyls, poor DS! At least once these molars are thru, that'll be it (til the second molars arrive!)

wyls · 25/01/2007 20:20

He doesnt seem to moan too much about his teeth but everytime he's teething, he ended up getting a cold, cought and fever. Every time!!! On a more postive note, his bowel movement has improved a lot since I have switched him to soya milk.

I cant wait to meet everyone on Tues. Just hope the weather will be nice.

So how many people do i need to book for?

4 adults and 3 kids?

Does everyone speak Cantonese?

MomOnTheRun · 25/01/2007 21:10

If we have decided to go for dim sum is it ok for me to speak Cantonese when we get there? I just find it awkward speaking in English with Chinese people who speak Cantonese. Also, you tend to get funny looks in Chinatown for speaking in English. I'll only be staying for an hour cos I'll have to make my way back to the office at London Bridge. My email id is [email protected] for exchanging mobile nos.

teacakes · 25/01/2007 22:44

WYLS, thanks for the invite, but I'm too nervous to attempt the trip. Another destination, though not in central Ldn, how about Oriental City - haven't been there for ages but it would be a good place for kiddies to run around. Hope you all have a nice lunch.

Snowmum, I think you've done the right thing by changing dates. I am trying to convince DH to do the same but he is still ahhing and humming about it.

MomOnTheRun, when I read that you kiddie has a fever and ulcers, it reminded me of something that my DD had. She had very nasty looking white ulcers like things and the tiniest wart on her hand and turns out she had hand foot and mouth disease. Apparently it is very common in kids, and it is not as nasty as it sounds.

wyls · 26/01/2007 11:45

Teacakes, shame you cant make Tues meet. We will definitely arrange to go to Oriental City another day. We have to go before they pull it down.

As for foot and mouth, my DS had it too. It was a nightmare when he had it, in fact, his whole group at nursery caught it at the same time and they all had to go home for a week to recover. Funny now but not at the time.

snowmum · 26/01/2007 19:59

Teacakes, yes we will definitely have to meet up at Oriental City before they pull it down. When is that? Does anyone know?

On another note we have changed our BA flights. We fly out on 11th Feb. DH was all for waiting and seeing but I didn't fancy it especially when I saw their flight timetable for next Tues and Weds - no flights at all apart from LHR to JFK! Plus it would be mayhem for the next few days following the strike. Didn't want to take the chance. Besides if the strike is called off, you can change your flight back (free of charge).

Re Imperial China, I have invited another chinese mum and baby to join us. So it'll be 5 mums and 3 kids.

snowmum · 26/01/2007 20:02

MomOnTheRun, I'm happy for you to speak in any language you like! I tend to babble away in a mixture of Cantonese and English anyway.

mellownomore · 26/01/2007 20:41

Hello all,
I might not be able to make lunch next Tuesday because I might need to go up to Coventry for a meeting. I'll see if I can get out of the meeting. I'll let you know on Mon.

KTW · 27/01/2007 11:42

Hello. I am the new mum invited by snowmum to join the Tue lunch. I moved to London last Jun and know very few people, especially Chinese speaking, here. I am so glad if I can join the lunch with you all next week and I will come with my 6-month old baby girl.

wyls · 27/01/2007 14:02

hey welcome KTW, looking forward to meeting you and your baby.

I will book a table at 1pm.

snowmum · 28/01/2007 09:07

KTW, good to see you here!

Mellow, hope you can move your meeting.

mellownomore · 28/01/2007 09:21

I'm feeling a lot better after a good night's rest. I've been really tired all week from work and dd waking up twice a night.

Hi snowmum,
I probably would skip the meeting. But I'll check to see if I can manage that on Monday.

teacakes · 28/01/2007 22:07

Snowmum, finally convinced DH to change the flights, so we are also flying out on the 11th, so we might see you there!

Hope you all enjoy your food on Tuesday.

I am thinking of getting an electronic dictionary - does anyone have one of these?

snowmum · 29/01/2007 11:00

Mellow, poor you! Hope your DD starts sleeping thru so you get a proper night's rest again. Did she sleep thru before?

Teacakes, what time is your flight? We are booked on the 18:40. Are you on the same? Perhaps we will meet at Heathrow!

Wyls, are you booking the table at Imperial China? Do they have enough highchairs for all the kids? Do I need to bring my booster seat? Looking forward to see everyone tomorrow.

wyls · 29/01/2007 13:57

hi just booked the table for 5 adults and 4 kids. They only have 2 highchair so maybe it's best to bring your booster seat. I will bring mine too just in case. I am not sure if KTW and Champagne need a highchair. Let me know.

I cant remember whether it is 4 or 5 adults but it doesnt matter really.

Ok see u all tomorrow at 1pm. I just hope my DS behave himself tomorrow on the train and at the restaurant.

snowmum · 29/01/2007 14:12

Thanks Wyls. Will bring along a booster seat for DD as a just-in-case.

KTW, do you know how to find Imperial China? Text me if any problems or if you running late.

Teacakes, what sort of electronic dictonary are you talking about?

wyls · 29/01/2007 15:30

Snowmum i have your mob number so will text you if we are running late or something.

Btw, the table is booked under the name of Duggan.

KTW · 29/01/2007 16:58

wyls, I don't need high chair as DD can sit in the pram or I hold her on my lap.

snowmum, Imperial China is in China Town, right? I will try to find it and call you if there is any problem.

Look forward to seeing you all tmr.

champagne18 · 29/01/2007 17:24

DS also doesn't need a highchair. Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
