Hi Beezknees,
I sincerely apologise if my comments ave hurt anyone. It was not intentional. But, being a first world country, I can't believe that so many people in the uK can't live for a day if their weekly benefit payment is delayed by a day ! People are claiming that their child had to walk to school, child has gone to school without lunchbox.

Are these mums so reliant on weekly payments that they can't live a day without these payments?

You say you don't want your comments to hurt anyone, yet you're still doubling down on a thread filled with people seriously stressed about money by questioning why they aren't able to manage. Your faux shock is cruel.

Every day's a school day, eh. Hopefully you'll think twice in future before lecturing during another's hour of need.

'Illegal' immigrants do not get HB and CB 🤷🏼‍♀️ they have no entitlement 🤨

EU state residents who claim CB here are funded by their own states, who repay to UK.

I think honestly the only way you could understand is if you could spend a day in their shoes, it’s always easy to judge when you haven’t been there yourself. As hard as it is to believe some people are not eating to feed their children, times for some people are so hard beyond imaginable, bills are increasing, prices of essentials are increasing people are struggling more than ever. People are sat inside in coats during winter. people struggling like this can also working and others that aren’t maybe have a disability which means they can’t work, unfortunately life isn’t s and giggles for everybody! ☹️

Eu citizen here. 99 percent of us are working 🤣🤣🤣 we don’t rely on benefits. In fact Iam from one of the worlds most generous countries when it comes to benefits. And illegal immigrants like you said are not entitled to anything. People need to get their facts straight

Sad reality it -YES THEY DO. I’m part time working and still can’t afford even to live normally, when budgeting and that exactly what I have to do it’s a massive stress, after inflation surviving just went to hard core mode! I don’t get even a buss pass and riding my bike to work with water in my knee as treatment I got hasn’t erased it, so yeah ppl do rely on that unfortunately, when my kids are out of age and I will be able to work full time plus I’m CELEBRATING for now it is what it is, n me for example- I have no friends or family to turn to, so that kind of issues means my kids might not eat so yeah many more parents in similar boat - we do rely on it for a reason…

Petitefifi · 03/06/2024 11:41

Yeah “may not be paying tax” bit… If they received benefits and worked cash in hand for a while they could save for rainy days coz or one or another went into d pot so that statement is really necessary like MASSIVELY NECESSARY

Parents here receive child benefit irrespective of whether they are working. I am a single parent on a high income, working 10-12 hours a day at times, but still receive child benefit... and it is still very much necessary owing to rising costs and lack of support from the other parent.

There will always be the ignorant few who try to blame vulnerable and/or minority groups for their woes.

What truth? Exactly what research did you carry out on child poverty levels in the UK before posting?

Illegal immigrants don't get any benefits. The clue's in the word "illegal".

Crazyclover · 03/06/2024 12:00

I am glad that people have posted about their issues the lack of the child benefit payment has caused them because now maybe the 'people are better off on benefits' and the 'poverty isn't a thing' brigade will have their eyes opened a bit and realise that life is a struggle for a heck of a lot of people!

Just checked the bank again as it’s midday, my Amazon refund has now come through but still no child benefit. I’ll check again at 3pm, I’ve noticed sometimes that money goes in about that time.

whatsername444 · 03/06/2024 12:30

Is there any update… has anyone spoken to anyone? Mine still not in. This is a shambles
