hi i normally receive my payments every monday for one child (4yo) i’ve received no letters or anything and had payment as normal last week. Although my payments are on mondays, i receive them saturday due to my bank, but this week it hasn’t come through and it’s not my bank as carers has come through like every other week as normal. No change of address etc and her dad wouldn’t of put a claim in and don’t think i can contact them till monday so stressed at what’s going on

So the HMRC online account showing they made the payment means nothing? Also HMRC saying they have already made payment means nothing? So the information you’ve found out that none of us know of or the staff answering the phones in HMRC office!

Edited

Yes, exactly. Your online account shows when the payment is due, doesn’t confirm it has been paid or anything similar. They have confirmed they have an issue on their end affecting payments and they are working to resolve it (see their statement on X.com). Glad I could help.

ArtfulJoker · 03/06/2024 10:01

So for the people that can’t understand how this small payment is heavily relied on, firstly I’m glad you have not experienced financial difficult as it is not easy.

this payment is for all parents: working parents & not working parents,
it’s mostly used for electric, gas, nappies, milk, to top up shopping, packed lunch on Mondays.

I doubt this payment would be greatly benefiting the parents.

Please don’t pass judgment on others that are struggling because they are probably besides themself worrying already about not being able to provide for their children (which could be because of a whole range of reasons) when problems like this happen with payments.
You never know what somebody is going through please be kind, anybody could be having the worst week ever and struggling to push through, unnecessary judgment is sometimes best kept inside your head not targeting a post where people are worrying about providing for their children.

Speaking truth or just being bitchy?

How does your comment enable anyone to come off the benefits system?

What are you talking about? Everybody is entitled to Child Benefit. You clearly don't understand that. Your privilege is mind blowing. Educate yourself.

What would be a bogus claim for child benefit? Do hundreds of thousands of children just not exist? Do you think the government don’t check they have been born? I’m seriously confused by this. Yes people do live like this - give your head a shake! What do you think the uproar about the cost of living crisis is for?! Not to mention, many people get their CB monthly, so this isn’t just Friday to Friday, this may be 4 weeks worth of money. For multiple children, it adds up.

Jbalmforth · 03/06/2024 10:04

Has anyone got through on phone yet

Rea24 · 03/06/2024 10:07

People are cruel but so is karma your comment is evil the country is a mess nurses working breaking there back and still can’t afford there mortgages or can’t afford to even treat there children and u get sociopaths like you thriving of our struggle people are working there back sides of and still relying on child benefit YES some of us can’t work due to mental health and disability people are struggling children are in poverty not because of us because of the governments the greed the control making us slaves saving lives yet we can barley keep our heads above water our self’s god forbid u need a doctor or a nurse to help u one day who’s on child benefit and relies on that to feed there children because your a heartless silver spoon

Harrysmum76 · 03/06/2024 10:10

Hi, any know if child benefit is delayed for some reason? Mine was due today, no changes etc but nothing has gone into my account. It shows on my HMRC app it’s due today?

Jbalmforth · 03/06/2024 10:13

They are telling people on the phone that they have made payment and you haven’t helped, adding the link so people on here can read would be an idea! Glad to help 😁

Martin Lewis has reckoned 80% of claimants are affected

Do they also remove the posts insulting someone and calling them bad at their job? Or is that ok?

Guys, child benefit payments have been made, if you logon to HMRC for child benefit it will tell you that payment has been made, there’s defiantly and issue with their bank, they have multiple accounts they use to pay out of and obviously one has technical issues which has happened before. I assume when banks correct this payments will be made, which usually happens later on in the day, I have logged into my HMRC account and can see the payments there so it’s their bank. I would not worry! Banks intend to correct these issues before 2pm when direct debits get returned.

Gas & electric have to give you an emergency fund quite immediately as you have children, give them a call and they can top up for you within the hour.

It’s definitely HMRC Because we’re all with different banks…
my bank said they were already aware of the issue and it’s HMRC side too

I haven’t read anything to say they have an issue their end only they are aware of it and working on it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I meant HMRC’s bank not ours as it happened before with their bank and NatWest are having problems but not sure if HMRC use them but could be a possibilty 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m upset about this. I’m angry they knew the impact this would have on people 3 days ago and did nothing. I personally am not going without food but can see how people might be after this, especially if you get monthly CB which hasn’t gone in. For us, the weekly CB is used to put fuel in our car so that I can get my severely disabled child to his only hobby, which is the closest thing available to respite and it runs once a week on a Monday after school. I am already financially and emotionally struggling. He’s not going to be able to go tonight now. It’s dramatic I know, because for me it’s only £25, but I’m gutted.

Yeah I get mine monthly and have 2 kids - eldest ASD, so I’m down £170 today which I was truly relying on to pay towards my son’s childcare costs (due today!). I simply don’t have enough in my account to cover it, let alone get any food or fuel that I desperately need to buy too
it’s not good enough! HMRC themselves haven’t even published anything saying there’s been an issue or anything, we’ve just all been left in the dark and without the money many of us rely on

Got you! Very true

Anisa12345 · 03/06/2024 10:28

I just tried to call again now they left a thing saying there aware of the problem and trying to resolve the issue and to keep checking you're bank so they new along time ago there fault because it taken 1000s of people to call them!.

Tattoomummy · 03/06/2024 10:30

Update on X from HMRC not that it helps any of us missing our payments. I’m in the same boat as everyone too and have a disabled child and we were really depending on our payment today!

Jassmine16 · 03/06/2024 10:31

Phoned child benefit and there is an automated message saying they are aware that payments haven't gone through and to check your bank account during the day

Aquarelles · 03/06/2024 10:33

I don't think @OssomMummy1 is being bitchy. I think she's saying it shouldn't be the case that people should be so reliant on this child benefit payment for things like electricity and food. Not through anyone's own fault, I hasten to add.

The government need to take a long hard look at how badly this has impacted on thousands of people, and realise that the current benefit system / wages / CoL is not allowing people to maintain a decent standard of living, of which we all deserve!!

Emarap · 03/06/2024 10:43

I’m so glad I’m not the only one! I can’t get through to CB mine normally goes in on a Friday with Monzo! I’m panicking because bills come out today too!!
