hi i normally receive my payments every monday for one child (4yo) i’ve received no letters or anything and had payment as normal last week. Although my payments are on mondays, i receive them saturday due to my bank, but this week it hasn’t come through and it’s not my bank as carers has come through like every other week as normal. No change of address etc and her dad wouldn’t of put a claim in and don’t think i can contact them till monday so stressed at what’s going on

Guys, child benefit payments have been made, if you logon to HMRC for child benefit it will tell you that payment has been made, there’s defiantly and issue with their bank, they have multiple accounts they use to pay out of and obviously one has technical issues which has happened before. I assume when banks correct this payments will be made, which usually happens later on in the day, I have logged into my HMRC account and can see the payments there so it’s their bank. I would not worry! Banks intend to correct these issues before 2pm when direct debits get returned.

Gas & electric have to give you an emergency fund quite immediately as you have children, give them a call and they can top up for you within the hour.

HMRC could have saved people, including their staff, a lot of grief if they'd put out a media statement about this problem, but apart from the responses on Twitter I've heard nothing and I've had both BBC and Sky on this morning.

If anyone incurs bank charges because of going overdrawn or cancelled payments due to this, it may be worth asking HMRC to cover them. I've succeeded in helping clients get compensation for bank charges incurred because of HMRC/DWP cock-ups in the past.

I know how tough it is when money's tight and a payment's delayed, so I really feel for those affected.

I was going to be using CB today to pay nursery fees!! Todays the last day to pay without getting late payment fees and I now can’t pay them (haven’t got enough in my acc without cb) 🥲 hope HMRC are going to be paying my late payment fees!! 🫣🥴

@Theredoubtableskins

Unfortunately they don’t remove post for that reason. Your out off luck there :(

BrummyMummyof4 · 03/06/2024 09:35

I knew something was wrong when I checked my banking at 1am and saw no payment had been made.
I know it can be paid late but in 14 years, it’s always shown between 10:30pm the day before or right after midnight.
We’ll be sorted soon.

Thousands of people rely on this to feed there kids it’s a cost of living crisis and to leave every one in the dark like this is cruel I get mine today and mine hasn’t gone in so looking at every ones comments there is clearly an issue with hmrc.

I usually have it pending from the Friday onwards ready for Monday. It still wasn’t pending last night and knew something was up. Low and behind..

I spoke with my bank and they said they can see nothing pending or tried to be paid?

MummytoCSJH · 03/06/2024 09:41

I’m upset about this. I’m angry they knew the impact this would have on people 3 days ago and did nothing. I personally am not going without food but can see how people might be after this, especially if you get monthly CB which hasn’t gone in. For us, the weekly CB is used to put fuel in our car so that I can get my severely disabled child to his only hobby, which is the closest thing available to respite and it runs once a week on a Monday after school. I am already financially and emotionally struggling. He’s not going to be able to go tonight now. It’s dramatic I know, because for me it’s only £25, but I’m gutted.

They have said they have made
payment and that there is nothing wrong with their child benefit services so it has to be their bank, unless they announce something else but they were made aware of this over the weekend and I have found an article in wales.

HMRC issues child benefit update as parents claim they didn't get payment

HMRC has urged people to check their bank accounts again

It is NOT the bank. It is HMRC who have not sent the payment instruction at all. Your online account means nothing.

I can never see any pending payments / Santander. I was thinking it’s fine mine is due mid month,…checked cb and no it was due to today with Scottish child payment and I have neither payment. Thankfully, unlike some of you i don’t urgently need the money today but it is counted in my monthly budget. Hopefully it’ll come in today/tomorrow for us all!!!

So the HMRC online account showing they made the payment means nothing? Also HMRC saying they have already made payment means nothing? So the information you’ve found out that none of us know of or the staff answering the phones in HMRC office!

Sadly so many parents do rely on this payment

Zeroperspective · 03/06/2024 09:48

I've not received mine today either

Seriously? You thought it was okay to post such bile on a thread where people are desperately worried about their money situation? YES, PEOPLE ARE LIVING HAND TO MOUTH IN THE UK RIGHT NOW. That's what 14 years of Tory rule has done. Now take your heartless privilege and leave the thread.

SwanseaDad2020 · 03/06/2024 09:50

Apparently Rishi Sunak his given an official statement:

"What is this Child Benefit the people of Britain are commenting on? Can't they just take an extra few thousand out of their off shore accounts to see them through until Tuesday?"

Yes, really.

Welcome to the real world. You’re going to hate it.

Seriously though, how can this be news to anyone? Children are living in poverty in the UK. Parents rely on the benefits they are entitled to. Money is a daily worry for millions.

Be grateful, deeply grateful, as I am, that this is not you.

Raine49 · 03/06/2024 09:50

There has been an issue apparently as my daughter checked

mumofthreeboysx · 03/06/2024 09:52

I bank with natwest, I spoke to them this morning, apparently natwest is down also and they are working to get the issue resolved. It could be HMRC, but it could also be down to what bank you bank with. Seems as though we are all in the same boat! X

Welcome to the cost of living crisis. Yes, this is where we are at. I can do without it for the time being thankfully but of course many people rely on it.

Lemonade2011 · 03/06/2024 09:55

@OssomMummy1 bit of a bitchy post
cb is given to everyone for children so there are no non genuine claims?!? The only people who don’t get it earn over a certain amount so stop spouting your crap. I’m a nurse and I get it?!?

It’s not a benefit you can cheat everyone is entitled to child benefit unless you earn over 60k per year
