PIP

Hi. New to the forum and PIP and am hoping some of the forum members can help me understand the claim process a little better, I applied for PIP in early December 2022. DWP told me that Capita had received my forms on December 9th. But i have not had a phone assessment scheduled yet. So i called Capita just to make sure everything was fine with my claim. They told me this morning that my claim "is in initial review" and that they "are requesting info from my medical contacts so they can do a Paper assessment". Is this a good/bad sign that my claim will be successful?

I'm at the appeal stage just got a response from the dwp and next step is tribunal just been through it all with universal credit so I guess I know what to expect 😫 I have heard of appeals lapsing before actually going to tribunal but I don't think I will be that lucky lol

I have just rung the enquiry help line and my next payment will be £380 so it looks like I have been awarded standard care and standard mobility. This is my first time of applying. I started my claim on 10th May, asked for 2 extensions, my telephone assessment was 14th September and I received a text on 18th September to say I had been awarded PIP.

MelWPip · 20/09/2023 09:51

You get your report with your award letter

InMySpareTime · 20/09/2023 09:58

My award letter was a bit different from my report but came to the same points. It's good to have both if you can, so you know the basis for all their decision making.

BarmyBrummie · 20/09/2023 11:08

So, the guy I spoke to stuck to his word and I received the report this morning. What an utter load of rubbish!! The only thing I do agree with is the moving around descriptor. Other than that, my toilet needs, bathing and dressing and undressing are a complete joke and massively incorrect. Just goes to show that the assessor didn't listen to me as I first thought. It's so frustrating! I'd love nothing more than to be able to wash myself and get dressed/undressed aswell as getting to the toilet and managing to get my incontinence pads on and off without assistance! Sorry for moaning 🤦🏼‍♀️AGAIN!

Is the report just the bit that says how many points you got in each section? Some bit of mine was overstated and some were overstated but it didn't really matter on balance because I still got full PIP.

Cuckoosheep · 20/09/2023 21:12

I've just realised that on the call he asked if I could peel potatoes sat down which i said yes to, but what I didn't say was that I wouldn't have been able to carry the pan with them in or put water in snd put them on the stove. I had said in the call that I couldn't even carry my handbag and other things but I've now convinced myself that this will go against me.

Cuckoosheep · 22/09/2023 15:51

Hi, does anyone know what the abbreviations bop and star mean on the reports please

Hi, does anyone know what the abbreviations bop and star mean on the reports please

What is the context?

Cuckoosheep · 22/09/2023 16:55

Babyroobs · 22/09/2023 16:02

What is the context?

Under recommendations and evidence used it says:-

"1-20m has been advised on BOP considering STAR because of severe symptoms....."

There is a brief of abbreviations at the start of the report but these aren't included.

I wondered if BOP was based on probabilities?

InMySpareTime · 22/09/2023 17:00

BOP =Balance of Probability
STAR = Safely, in a Timely manner, to an Adequate standard, Repeatably.
It's the standard they use to determine whether you can do something.

How long after receiving payment are people getting their report

Cuckoosheep · 22/09/2023 19:47

I haven't had a payment or been awarded yet. I had z txt saying they had sent my assessment report off so I called and asked for a copy.

InMySpareTime · 22/09/2023 20:53

Assessment call 25/8,
Award text 4/9,
Payment 7/9,
Report 11/9.

From looking at your assessment report does it look like you have been awarded?

Telephone assessment - 30 august
Received written report - 6 September
Phone call to say I had been awarded - 7 September
Funds in bank - 13 September

Still waiting for award letter

Cuckoosheep · 23/09/2023 09:28

I think so but I believe that can change with the decision maker. I'm quite surprised to be honest as I thought the assessment went very badly.

BarmyBrummie · 25/09/2023 10:39

Can I ask - how long were people waiting for a decision on their pip review?
I received the text on 14th August to say they've had the report and will make a decision but it can take up to 6 weeks. That was 6 weeks ago today. I know they are sorting the new claims first as majority of those people probably have no money coming in and I do appreciate that. But why say 6 weeks if you aren't going to make a decision in that time - it's very frustrating!
Would love to know how long people have been waiting for decision from their reviews.
Thanks x

Hi all how long after having the assessment can I ask for the report? I had my assessment last Friday, it’s a new claim and I’m nervous about how the assessment went as I get confused

InMySpareTime · 27/09/2023 11:03

As soon as you get the text to say they have the report you can ask for it. If you don't get text updates then wait a couple of days after the assessment.

pleasehelp23 · 27/09/2023 11:04

Thank you, I have had text updates so I will wait to receive a text to say they have it x

Hi just wondered how long after your assessment did you receive the text to say DWP had the report please?

InMySpareTime · 27/09/2023 19:56

Assessment call Friday, text Monday morning (which was surprising as it was a bank holiday)

Hi just wondered how long after your assessment did you receive the text to say DWP had the report please?

Mine was the day after. Then I called the day after asked for report received that 2 days later. Exactly a week from assessment I had a call to say I had been awarded and back pay on bank 6 days later.
