PIP

Hi. New to the forum and PIP and am hoping some of the forum members can help me understand the claim process a little better, I applied for PIP in early December 2022. DWP told me that Capita had received my forms on December 9th. But i have not had a phone assessment scheduled yet. So i called Capita just to make sure everything was fine with my claim. They told me this morning that my claim "is in initial review" and that they "are requesting info from my medical contacts so they can do a Paper assessment". Is this a good/bad sign that my claim will be successful?

@mammaov3
were you already getting PIP / DLA

last time pre Covid my niece review of her orginal pip ( took 6 weeks ) paper based assessment

this time she sent it off in Oct and still not heard back but absolutely nothing has changed with her situation so she isn’t that worried as she is still getting the full amount

mammaov3 · 11/04/2023 20:32

@Yabado I am currently on standard for both i sent my review form back September 2021 and only just had my assessment 5 weeks ago , i should hear this week as they told me upto 6 weeks wait.
My assessor gave me enough points to get moved onto enhanced rates but im waiting to see if the DM agrees.

Yabado · 11/04/2023 20:35

@mammaov3
that is crazy
I knew they were taking a long time on doing reviews after Covid but they will just keep extending the claim while it was waiting to be assessed
wishing you luck
Did you have a telephone or face to face assessment

mammaov3 · 11/04/2023 21:06

@Yabado Thank you and it was a phone call assessment, your niece could possibly be waiting a long while yet if was sent back October gone as i think they are still backlogged with reviews as mine took 18 months to get a assessment but atleast she will still be getting paid until they make a decision 😊

mammaov3 · 13/04/2023 10:27

TheShellBeach · 14/04/2023 11:45

Hi Mamma - I think you should just ring them back. I've had calls from all kinds of different numbers, so it's hard to know.

Sara0 · 14/04/2023 15:49

@mammaov3 just call them and say I didn’t want to miss the call is it DWP who called

iamenougheveryday · 15/04/2023 14:26

Mine is review assessment.

Had telephone review call on Tuesday 21st February.

Received a text from DWP on Wednesday 22nd Februrary saying they had received the report from the health professional but it may take up to 6 weeks for them to make a decision.

Called them on Tuesday 28th February to tell them I had changed address and requested they send me the report.

Called them on Thursday 16th March to let them know I had not received the report and requested they send it again.

The report arrived Monday 20th March. The cover letter that accompanied the report is dated 16th March. I do not think they sent out the report the first time. The report is true to what was said in the assessment, and the nurse has understood my needs well. I agree with the points they have suggested to allocate.

On Friday 31st March I called up PIP. I was on hold for 49 minutes. I was told my case was assigned to a decision maker on 29th March (5 weeks since I received the text stating DWP received the report from the assessor), and the decision maker would be making a decision soon.

On Monday 3rd April a decision called me up for a few more questions. After the questions, the decision maker told me how many points I received and what rate I would get for care and mobility. I received 12 points for care (higher rate), and 10 points for mobility (lower rate).

On Tuesday 11th April I received a sum of money into my account as back payment as previously I was not awarded mobility.

Today, Saturday 15th April I received the official letter from DWP stating my award and how long it would last for.

From the telephone review call to when I receiving the letter stating the decision, 7 weeks and 4 days time has passed.

mammaov3 · 16/04/2023 12:08

Thank you for your replys im at 6 weeks tomorrow im hoping i hear through next week. 🙏

TheShellBeach · 16/04/2023 13:48

I actually wake up every morning now, wondering if Mamma and Shebaduke have heard anything yet.

mammaov3 · 16/04/2023 13:55

@TheShellBeach it is very frustrating that i have to wait another week or 2 just because there was a bank holiday 😐 i understand a few days late for decision but not upto 2 weeks i just want it over with now 😢 i have started sorting things out preparing for a MR witch i hope i don't need to do as the assessor did score me enough points but clearly the DM can take points away , i will update as soon as i find out the outcome.

Shebaduke · 16/04/2023 20:05

Thankyou shell beach for thinking of us i know in my heart of hearts i will have to do a MR im just waiting for the letter now to tell me that

Sara0 · 17/04/2023 12:06

mammaov3 · 17/04/2023 14:18

Shebaduke · 17/04/2023 15:48

Sorry for typing mistakes only just noticed 🙉

mammaov3 · 17/04/2023 20:15

@Shebaduke i raily hope you hear soon , even though assessor did score me enough points there is still aload of lies in my report saying i can do alot of things that i can't just because i can put my own seat belt on in a car 🙄 even though i never seid i can do that lol. Jeez

Sara0 · 18/04/2023 07:38
