Hi. New to the forum and PIP and am hoping some of the forum members can help me understand the claim process a little better, I applied for PIP in early December 2022. DWP told me that Capita had received my forms on December 9th. But i have not had a phone assessment scheduled yet. So i called Capita just to make sure everything was fine with my claim. They told me this morning that my claim "is in initial review" and that they "are requesting info from my medical contacts so they can do a Paper assessment". Is this a good/bad sign that my claim will be successful?

I am just curious to know when you get your report sent out from a REVIEW assessment is it the same where they do points on it like they do new claim ones?

They did with mine, and gave me no points, as you know.

Very interesting. Thank you. It could be condensed to say "make it up as you go along".

So, the weirdest thing - I just got a bank transfer from PIP, even though I haven't heard anything since they said they had received the report from the assessor. I cannot work out from the amount of money what I've been awarded, though! And there was me ready for a fight!

mammaov3 · 03/04/2023 13:11

@mrsfeatherbottom congratulations on your award, im still waiting to hear and im preparing for a MR tbh its 4 weeks since they received my report im still waiting for my report to be sent out 🙄

If you call them up and get the automated line there is an option to hear your next payment which might help you work it out.

@mrsfeatherbottom they work in mysterious ways! 🤦🏻‍♀️

They're bonkers, Sara.
They never sent me a report, they never texted me, they never wrote........................................until the letter which said they weren't giving me anything.
But we've had this conversation before.

Hopefully they won't make you wait much longer. I think the point I'm trying to make is that they seem to have different systems for different parts of the country. Or maybe some of the decision makers are more likely to send texts than others. I dunno.

It always seems completely shambolic to me.

Well, that's a bit of good news for the thread, anyway. I bet you're relieved.

mrsfeatherbottom · 03/04/2023 14:29

I'm so relieved I could cry. I've put off applying for years because of all the horror stories. I really was expecting to get turned down.

Bit of update i just received my report and the assessor scored me 15 points for daily living and 18 points for mobility, im currently on standard for both so this should bring me upto enhanced but i know the DM could take away points 🙄 but the report does fume me abit because theres alot of things in it that i definitely seid i could not do because i can't so ye that angered me abit and i didn't get points on some of the questions that i should of got highest points on like she seid i can shower myself and wash my body and hair and dress myself rct witch i can't and she knows i can't cook a meal for myself using microwave or oven and stated i can .
im just hoping the DM goes with the points the assessor gave me.

Sara0 · 03/04/2023 15:42

Great news. Surely even if they remove a few points, you'll still get enough. Fingers crossed!

Shebaduke · 03/04/2023 18:37

So i have sent a complaint to capita as i was told to do that by Pip when i telephoned last week and today i rang and spoke to a chap in Pip who told me to send a letter to them stating all my points he agreed that writing that i went to university was nothing to do with PIP and anyway that was a complete lie as i never said that and she didnt even ask
So anyway i sent 8 bullet points telling them about her blatent lies and sent it next day delivery so we will wait and see i have photocopied the letter i sent also

mammaov3 · 03/04/2023 18:37

@mrsfeatherbottom Thank you and Hopefully it will work out ok

Don't doubt.
It hasn't been six weeks yet.

Sara0 · 04/04/2023 16:07

I spoke to them yesterday and they said they revived the evidence on Thursday last week and it’s not been looked at yet.. I jus hate the waiting part
