Hello all, bit of a random one/curiosity, do crisp pay higher rates for shifts over Xmas? And if so, what do they pay?

They paid double for pay per hour shifts on christmas and new years day. I found the announcement on slack from Dec 20, couldn't find last years but remember reading it. Nice for those that got them, l go away & have a long break from it over christmas

Realpeach · 18/11/2022 12:06

Hi, I'm new to all this and have just signed up to Ap (thank you for all of the info and sites provided on this thread 😊). After getting over the mammoth task of going through all of the projects to see which I can do and the shock of all the user agreements and how much data they gather on you 😐, I have a few questions...

Is there anyone here that doesn't do the (within) social media tasks or the video/audio tasks but still gets work?
(I don't like the idea of them having access to F and I or having access to my camera or mic - we don't even have a smart speaker). I do realise that the other projects have some personal data and my IP.

How do you know if there is work for each project? Do you get an email or do you have to keep checking in? Do the tasks show in the project tickets bit or elsewhere?

I've seen people mention Scratch on this thread. I'm not even sure what that is. Is it a platform/chatroom where people can specifically talk about jobs on Ap and/or other sites?

Any answers would be greatly welcomed 😊

Realpeach · 18/11/2022 12:26

Also, is there a way to see which projects are new or do you have to look through the whole list every time?

ruralwanderer · 01/11/2022 07:44

Welcome back everyone. As agreed on the October 2022 thread, this one will keep running until it gets too full. Apologies for the Prolific link above - no idea why it didn't work. Here it is again: app.prolific.co/studies

I'm disappointed with my total for October. There were extenuating circumstances (COVID knocked me for six, I had the kids home for a week over half term, and my car blew up so I spent a LOT of time scouring adverts and going on viewings instead of working) but my earnings of £465.42 won't please the 30 hour childcare code people so I must do better this month to average it out.

How I made my money:

S Sci - £362.12
Crisp - £67.24
Intellizoom - $18 (~£15.61)
Prolific - £20.45

As usual, Search Sciences was my best earner and my Crisp earnings came mainly from three pay per hour shifts (just couldn't handle the PPI stuff last month).

Hope everyone else had a productive month and as this is our last month to earn before Christmas, let's all kick on and support each other 💪

Hi @ruralwanderer . Thanks so much for the thread. I'm hoping to be able to earn a bit of money to cover our increase in mortgage costs.

Can I ask what kind of thing you write for SSc? I'm interested but not sure I am imaginative enough or would be focused enough to quickly research and write.

lem0njelly · 18/11/2022 14:22

Local secondary schools also usually in need of invigilators.

Mummyof32020 · 18/11/2022 16:16

Not sure if people use this one but Influence is a really good app. Only been doing it a couple of weeks and averaging £10-£15 per week so far. There are the traditional surveys but it's mostly video response one and each pays at least 50p usually. The more questions you answer in your profile the more video surveys you get responses only need to be about 15 seconds long I think. There is opportunity to get a series of video questions and earn more. I did one last week and got £8 for it and only took me about 20min all in over the day. The link is

@Realpeach I write a lot of HR and project management based blogs and articles as that is what I am qualified in, so I'd advise listing both your professional qualifications and experience and your personal hobbies and interests so that there is a broad cross section for them to consider you for Smile

Gah.
Was accepted onto my first Ap for ages (St*) and am now going round in circles. I keep getting the "let us know of your availability" email which also asks you to log into your srt whatsit, and when I do that it tells me my account has been deactivated.
So I raise a ticket, get a reply saying the person can't help me but someone will reply who can (10 days ago) and in the meantime another 4 emails saying are you available or not for this. Pffft.

SlurpSlooChortle · 20/11/2022 18:54

@girlfriend44
I saw your message about Qmee but didn't quite understand about the pay to search? I'm interested to find out more. Thanks.

Redcrayons · 23/11/2022 10:49

Hi, checking back in after a few months absence. I haven’t been too active, just keeping my Crisp login active.

im hoping to have a bumper December as I’m currently on garden leave before I start my new job in January.

Redcrayons · 23/11/2022 10:52

Winterjoy · 18/11/2022 00:53

Has anyone on Am*r submitted a tax return? Can't work out if I need to declare the reimbursements - I'm thinking not as it's not payment for work (and paying tax on them would work out to a loss?)

I’ve been wondering this myself.

Im thinking of putting the whole reimbursement as income and then putting the cost of the stuff as expenses.
I don’t know if that’s the right way to do it though.

When I looked further into this the reimbursement is listed on the invoice under 'Bonus' which is exempt from tax, as far as I can ascertain. But I think I'm going to try and contact HMRC when I complete my return to double check.

Redcrayons · 23/11/2022 11:17

@Winterjoy would you mind letting me know what they say please?

Graphista · 23/11/2022 15:52

I'm enjoying doing the polls for points as even though not big bucks easy enough to do and get a few pennies in.

In terms of more and more consistent income though I'm erring more towards the freelancing side of things. I joined a free trial on freelancer.com and promptly came down with lurgy for most of the month! So wasn't able to use that time to figure it out. I'm going to have a proper look later today and rest of this week at this and the other freelancer sites.

I'd very much appreciate tips and guidance on how to get started on and make the most of these sites?

@sunshine391 thanks re YLive

I have also bid on a few projects on freelancer but I'm dubious about these. They feel 'scammy' what does everyone else think about freelancer? Has it been productive for anyone?

This is what I'm wondering too - how to filter to bid for the right projects?

At one point I was starting to get the hang of clickworker think I need to revisit that too.

Focus force I rarely meet the parameters but yet seem to get loads of emails from them.

Invigilating is something I may explore next spring/summer.

Appen confuses me

Given I'll be doing Xmas shopping anyway and that also means eating and drinking out I was wondering if any of you guys could recommend mystery shopper and similar ideas? 2 birds one stone?

@baxtersm thanks for the tip on shopmium I already do Shoppix

@brainstories568 interesting re invigilators. I'm in glasgow so lots of colleges and unis plus a few private schools. Main issue though is I don't drive and public transport here lately between strikes, extensive roadworks and crazy weather has been terribly unreliable.

@Mummyof32020 thanks for Influence app suggestion just my kinda thing actually

Thank you for some great suggestions of WFH opportunities. There's a lot I'd never thought of and it seems I could potentially earn the amount I would be left with after paying childcare if I did decide to go back to work.

rainbowzebra05 · 25/11/2022 17:02

I've not done great in November. Newborn, eldest's birthday, and we've all had some horrid virus one after the other. Then 4 year old stopped sleeping. So all in, it's been a bit pants!

I made £102 in profit on Etsy, but that's my sum total!

Worked out that after childcare and commuting when I return to work I'll be bringing in £100 a month for 17.5 hours work. So my goal at the minute is to consistently top this, including out of season on Etsy. Dh's happy for me to quit work if I can maintain the same contribution. I HATE my job, so this is a good thing if I can manage it!

Ideally I'd love to earn enough to send youngest to nursery for a morning or two a week, but I can build to that with time.

I'm writing the next week off in terms of earnings, but going to use it to set the foundation for December. Search sciences to sign up for, appen projects, and product ranges for Etsy for January.

Also hoping for sleeping children next week. Miracles can happen, right? Grin

ruralwanderer · 25/11/2022 17:17

Good luck @rainbowzebra05 , that's exactly what I've done (quit my job to stay home with the kids but earn near enough the same as I would have had left after childcare and commuting). It's a much nicer quality of life and I love the flexibility of being able to work when I want to. I hope it works out for you 😊

Adelais · 25/11/2022 18:09

Good luck @rainbowzebra05

My youngest was born in 2020 and luckily 2 months after she was born I got accepted for c r i s p which meant I could afford not to go back to my previous job. Like you it wouldn’t have been worth it to go back and thankfully I earn a decent amount now and pay for dd to do 4 mornings at playgroup :).

rainbowzebra05 · 25/11/2022 19:55

Thank you both! There's some local casual work in a discipline I'm trained in that I could jump onto once I wasn't working the day job (and there's next vacancies) which would help. And with 2 disabled dc not working means I could claim carers allowance so we'd likely actually be better off that way (which feels madness!) but it's the stability of leaving worrying DH, so I need to get something to a point where it'll replace the lost wage before jumping ship! Hoping I can top the Etsy/small business income up with some other bits like app and c r I s p to give that reassurance that we won't financially be stuffed! Plan is to use the unpaid portion of mat leave to test it, so we'll see how that goes!

ruralwanderer · 01/12/2022 07:04

Happy 1st of December everyone! Hope November's been good to you. I've just totted up my earnings and whilst they're not as good as they were prior to October, they're heading in the right direction so I'm finding the silver lining.

Crisp - £143.59 (mainly shifts)
Prolific - £21.22
Search Sciences - £353.47

TOTAL - £518.28

I've had to spend £129.99 on a new phone though as Intellizoom have updated their minimum OS requirements which has stopped me from doing any phone based work for them this month but I've kept a record of it and will put it as a work related expenditure on next year's tax return.

Which reminds me - tax returns are due by the end of January but best to get yours in early and avoid the rush. I did mine last week and it only took about 45 minutes and I discovered that I was owed £27 from the previous year which was a nice surprise.

usernotfound0000 · 01/12/2022 08:32

Not a bad month overall for me, just started using User Testing and Intellizoom, it took a while to be approved so I've done 2 tasks on user testing and 1 on intellizoom that I'm still waiting for payment on.
Vinted £32
Inbox pounds £60
User testing £16
We are 8 £3.15
Top cashback £4.60
Qmee £30

Total £145.75

StillBreathingjust · 01/12/2022 11:23

Hello folks, has Am'r launched today?

Redcrayons · 01/12/2022 13:57

Great month for me, my best this year. Hit £350 so actually achieved the £10 per day for the first time in 2 years!

Mostly Crisp, thanks to the shifts, £70 on Prolific and few bits on Qmee and Intellizoom.

@StillBreathingjust not for me but I haven’t been on it for a few months, though they usually send the email very late in
their day. I got a couple of great Christmas presents last year so was hoping I might be this time round.

girlfriend44 · 01/12/2022 15:12

Does anyone want to share what searches on qmee make them money?
