Interesting @ruralwanderer This is the first job I've done with them in about a year! They used to be my favourite site. I didn't even notice they'd been removed from the thread, lol.
@Magdachristie I hope we get paid

TheresALight · 15/11/2022 11:25

Hey everyone, I have had Quality Issues quoted before and been stopped from working a No task, but they paid for the work I'd done. So fingers crossed this will happen for you all.
I'm looking at Ap projects and lots of the reccuring tasks have new qualification questions on them, first is yo tell about a challenge at work. Has anyone answered these and how much detail did you give please? Never had to invest too much time into the qualification processes before.

LouisCatorze · 15/11/2022 12:56

Just popped on to ask if anyone had done the Neevo task. I too was screened out (but only after I'd done about $60 worth). Really quite challenging because unless you know the foreign languages, you'd not really know if they're being pronounced correctly (and for $0.02 per one, who would be going off to check?) or not. And if several pronunciations are accepted for other languages, then presumably they could have all been marked as correct? Will be really cross if I don't get paid though.

It also took me a massive amount of time to find the record of what I'd done in the list of completed tasks. For some very strange reason, the list isn't in date order, so I had to do some digging before finding it.
Fingers crossed to everyone who did it.

And finding Prolific really not lucrative at the moment. There are lots of 'pence' paying studies and very many fewer 'pounds' ones than there were even a couple of months ago.

YonderTweek · 15/11/2022 14:26

Is anyone else finding Ap really quiet these days? I was delighted to be invited to two M@lta tests but obviously I messed both up so no work for me. :( I have been doing little bits of transcription but the project is very much dribs and drabs and whenever I log in there is only like one batch left so not much money to be made there...

I need to get earning again! I have even contemplated MB again as I have nothing else going on. Eek.

rosamoschata · 15/11/2022 15:39

I gave up on the new Neevo job after 20 items. Some of them had zero results in Google ("Did you mean..?) or there was a single result, like a street in Ohio - who can validate the pronunciation of that? Even if you think it's bound to be right, other people could have guessed it was wrong and ooops! a few like that and you have failed Quality Control! If there isn't a laid down right and wrong we are all just guessing.

And @AnotherOne4 not only do Neevo let you carry on doing the job and then tell you you've failed quality control, they actively keep on inviting you back to continue the job. A couple of years ago I had a big row with them as they kept emailing me as more work dropped, even increasing the payment per item. I ended up doing about 680 items that they refused to pay me for as I'd failed quality control at some point previously. I like Neevo work but they can be tricky, so I'm very cautious now

Mummyof32020 · 15/11/2022 15:44

Has anyone ever signed up to PayGen either (standard or plus) and actually got the payment?
Thanks

Mummyof32020 · 15/11/2022 15:49

it looked a bit like a scam to me but many claim to have received their money

CauliflowerCheese30 · 15/11/2022 21:23

Why is Appen so slow? I haven't done one job for them yet, I'm in the waiting room for one at the moment, I've withdrawn £150 from prolific in 3 months, so happy with that, QMEE is very slow going but I'm managing to keep my streak going, I'll not earn what some of you ladies do as I'm really bad at putting things down in writing.

ruralwanderer · 16/11/2022 06:54

@PumpkinPatchy I'm registered self employed and submit an annual tax return. Once you earn over £1000 in a tax year from this work you need to declare it.

I have registered and will have to do a tax return but I'm also employed full time elsewhere. Do you know if this causes any issues with PAYE or anything?

This started as a side hustle for me a few years ago when these threads started.

Since then I've been able to leave my job, work from home and earn more money. I'm so grateful for @ottersea

BecauseOfIndia · 16/11/2022 08:58

@YonderTweek You're not missing out on anything by failing the malta quals! I passed both and still no work 😥That seems to be the pattern with Ap these days. I've passed about 5 quals in recent months and never been given access to any of them. I'm wondering whether to bother in future as some of them are really time consuming.

RiverSkater · 16/11/2022 20:08

@mydogisthebest I'm wondering this too. When they have asked for availability for tasks I submit my interest each time but have never had anything.

I noticed a new shift page on Humanity and got all hopeful but still nada!

I'd love to have that regular income from shifts, it's so poorly paid otherwise. I try to make £ 15-20 per day but the time commitment makes it at below minimum wage. But we all do it as it's extra money. 😞 I wonder at the ethics of these companies coining profits and paying poorly.

8DPWoah · 16/11/2022 23:38

Just checking in, another awful month for me, have started applying for real jobs.

But saying that I've discovered by accident that although there isn't a huge amount on WWW still for me, I'm not getting email notifications when there IS work... So I've picked up enough work for this week after just randomly dropping on and checking. Their new system is poor in my opinion but I'd urge anyone that does WWW to check the platform manually whenever you can, and don't wait for the email notifications about there being work available.

8DPWoah · 16/11/2022 23:39

I hope everyone knows what I mean by 'real' there too as a veteran of this way of working for 18 months or so now, no offence intended just clumsy wording!

I still don't think this is my real job even though it's my only income and pays the bills Grin

StillBreathingjust · 17/11/2022 09:55

Hello all, bit of a random one/curiosity, do crisp pay higher rates for shifts over Xmas? And if so, what do they pay?

girlfriend44 · 17/11/2022 22:37

What is all this talk of potatoes?
Qmee pay you to search does anyone want to share what searches pay you?

Winterjoy · 18/11/2022 00:53

Has anyone on Am*r submitted a tax return? Can't work out if I need to declare the reimbursements - I'm thinking not as it's not payment for work (and paying tax on them would work out to a loss?)

brainstories568 · 18/11/2022 02:13

QueenConsort · 04/11/2022 19:51

How do you sign up to be an invigilator?

If you've got a university close to you then you could/should contact the exam team there too as they will likely have exams across the uni all year round and can never have too many invigilators, especially those with reasonable IT skills. We lost a lot of our long standing invigilators over the COVID period as we didn't need as many for remote exams. The pay is reasonable too (here it is £13/14ph+ & holiday pay for "general" invigilator then £16/17 for lead, who are the more experienced ones that get to make exam announcements etc) and in my uni at least you get an ac.uk email and ID card so then you can get student discounts 😀

(Sorry, just saw this thread come up on active threads)

ruralwanderer · 18/11/2022 07:51

@StillBreathingjust I don't think they increase the rates but last year there were definitely more surges and shifts around that time so hopefully that will happen again this year.

@girlfriend44 Potatoes is Crisp Thinking Smile

@Winterjoy I haven't but would assume that you would just declare the rate per task rather than the reimbursements. I'm not a tax expert though so would recommend phoning HMRC to check with them before submitting your tax return, especially if the reimbursements make the difference between paying tax or not paying tax.
