As I say, I'm a single mum to two under 5, I fit the shifts around their routines with school/nursery and then my real job too and it's exhausting but it works. I just don't know how I can even make the same out in the real world, there aren't enough hours in the day. Obviously this is perfect as I can sit at home doing it while the kids are in bed.
I'll probably have to go full time with my "proper" job and see the kids much less Sad

ilikeeggs · 02/05/2023 08:19

I’m another one who is stressed about losing my potato shifts as that is really my only source of income. I can’t see how we can make the same money when there’s not enough content for everyone to work at the same time.

LolaMontezz · 02/05/2023 08:36

We can't, it's just bullshit. I worked yesterday for four hours and made about £2. What's the point

ruralwanderer · 02/05/2023 11:59

Oh heck, sounds like Potato have managed to make life even worse than it was before! Really sorry for all of you who rely on that income when the company are making it so difficult to make any money from it. Like somebody else said, their clients must be going somewhere else - if only we knew where!

I've tallied up my April earnings and SS brought in £470.45. Bit less than I earned in March but it was a funny month, starting slowly with lots of bitty pieces then finishing on a bang with some 2000 word pieces which took me right to the deadline. Hoping that this month will be a bit more consistent.

It would be great to find out what companies are out there that also offer this kind of work. It's hard to find.

Okisenough · 02/05/2023 13:07

It's a real shame, potato definitely seems much quieter, I am hoping that things improve but I think it is also sensible to look for another income stream/job.

ruralwanderer · 02/05/2023 14:37

DD is asleep so I have been Googling and found this: https://www.websiterating.com/best-side-hustles/social-media-moderator/

The links in this document mainly relate to chat assistant roles rather than social media moderation but LiveWorld sounds like it may be similar. Could be worth a look for those of you that rely on Potato but are becoming frustrated with its lack of earning potential.

RiverSkater · 02/05/2023 15:25

I have found these companies which may do similar work:
Factmata
Brandwatch
Sprinklr
Logically
The Social Element
LiveWorld
ModSquad

rainbowzebra05 · 02/05/2023 20:14

I made just over £60 with SS in April. All of my tasks are "bitty", my biggest being 600 words and smallest 100. Yet they still seem to take ages even at 200 words because the basic research is the same.

After Etsy fees I made £250 on there too. Minus cost of materials which is about 1/3rd. So about £165 profit.

Working in rounded numbers to try to avoid dobbing in who I am. Doubt it'll work, but worth a go!

sorrynotathome · 03/05/2023 07:49

Intellizoom has slowed to a trickle for me - only a handful in April compared with loads in March ☹️ And after a positive start with SS, that has also gone quiet. I did say only 4 briefs per month as I was moving house so I guess I should change that now… Thanks for the leads @RiverSkater !

RiverSkater · 03/05/2023 09:36

kaam.work specialises in remote work too.

Fluffyslippersohyes · 04/05/2023 07:36

Does anyone here do Nielsen IQ scanning? Can anyone advise how many points I need to start accessing the rewards? Thanks. I can’t seem to access it on the website.

Buster27 · 04/05/2023 10:26

Hello, I haven't posted recently as I haven't had anything to add. Due to change of circs I'm doing this work less, although had gotten into a nice routine of £3-400 on potato shifts (plus Prolific for fun spends!) which was working perfectly for my current situation. A bit gutted the potato shifts have stopped as it felt like a permanent working solution.
I had initially hoped I'd still be able to earn around the same with the potato changes, but it's sounded quite negative over there. I haven't had time to check it out yet though so I'll see how I get on before looking elsewhere. Although knowing how long some of these things take, maybe I should get the ball rolling in case
Really hope all the people working lots of hours and/or relying on potato shift income are doing ok. There wasn't much warning so I can imagine it's a pretty stressful time Flowers

JLbaby · 05/05/2023 08:45

Does anyone know which retailers User Interviews use for their gift cards? I did email and ask but they said they didn’t know and I’d find out once I received the gift card, so not very helpful!

Okisenough · 06/05/2023 11:05

Fellow potato peelers, how are people finding things on the platform at the moment? I have noticed that one particular queue that I work has become super quiet, with very low content. I am definitely making less than I used to, ho hum

Celeryfavour · 06/05/2023 18:42

I was kicked off potato last month, I only ever made about £30 a month so not much income lost and actually I've felt so much less stressed without worrying about making the minimum this month. I have done a bit on Intellizoom but haven't had any pay yet. I started selling on Vinted and made £125 from DC old clothes so nothing high value, my local Evri point know me well now!

ClaraBourne · 07/05/2023 12:36

@Okisenough it's quiet all day now.
Which queue do you work?
I've never done bespoke shifts.

It's find it generally busier late evening and at night I think but that just doesn't work with my schedule.
So few Uk based clients now. If they still had ITV it would have been crazy busy with the Coronation.

I refuse to sit there waiting to earn a couple of quit per hour It's pitiful 🥲.

I work the main ones plus a few others that you have to apply to get onto. I don't want to name them just in case! But it's all quiet now. I basically don't bother to work when it's quiet unless I am watching the telly so it doesn't really matter if it's super slow. I am hoping things do pick up at some point.

melonraspberry · 09/05/2023 14:16

I think I’m definitely giving up potatoes now. I had a bit of a sess on Saturday which I thought would have earnt me nearly £10 as it was quite fast moving - just looked - £3! It’s just not worth it is it, I’d do better spending the time shopping around a bit more for groceries.

PorpoiseWithPurpose · 09/05/2023 21:07

I’ve left potatoes, too. Thank God. They have lost so many clients over the last 12 months. It’s pitiful & not worth any of my time.

ClaraBourne · 11/05/2023 10:31

2.5 hours wasted on Potato yesterday morning, while they sorted out the login. I hung around as I assumed there would be a huge deluge of content once it was sorted and it was as shite as ever!

Bobsyouruncleand · 12/05/2023 09:42

Does anyone do the Clickworker robot task and if so, have you found that there hasn’t been anything for about 2/3 weeks? I have checked a couple of times a day and that is normally sufficient to catch them but I didn’t know if I’d missed it.

JLbaby · 12/05/2023 09:51

@Bobsyouruncleand same, I did one a couple of weeks ago but nothing since. It’s such easy money as well!

Buster27 · 12/05/2023 13:16

Did a small Appen project yesterday (waiting for quality check now) - first thing (other than the odd crappy am*r round) I've done on there for ages! Qualified for a couple of projects today too so will see if any work comes from them.. won't hold my breath though!

BecauseOfIndia · 17/05/2023 15:33

Anyone taken the qualification for W**-S project on Appen and failed it? I'm so confused, my writing is my thing, I'm a trained journalist and have years of copywriting experience. I,ve been been offered a retake but I really don't know whether to bother.
