@PleaseGoDontGoAgain I’ve signed up too - thank you!

I've submitted a potato invoice via Paypal for the first time but haven't had an auto reply saying it's been received, is that normal?

cailingaelach · 18/04/2023 20:10

@PleaseGoDontGoAgain yeah I think that's normal, I don't think they email for paypal..only bank. I switched over to bank transfer as Paypal were charging fees.

I normally get an email back - check the address.

Looks like Potato don't have IT* anymore. Which is a shame. I enjoyed being outraged by the small minded outrage. 🤪

melonraspberry · 19/04/2023 14:22

I’m filling in my tax return for last year . I had to buy a new computer last year as mine went kaput, so I’m putting this in as an expense- it looks like this is ok? Anyone else done this ? Also do you get the full payment taken off your tax, how does it work ? I’m only £400 over the threshold so I’m hoping it might mean no tax due , the computer was £900.

there’s a lot of guessing going into this tax return but the income is correct, just need to wait for my employer p60 now.

BecauseOfIndia · 20/04/2023 09:57

@melonraspberry I bought a laptop earlier this year and have put the full cost price in as an expense. However, I work full time as a freelancer. I have a desktop PC as well, but bought the laptop so I could work in different rooms and away from home. I think if your new computer is only for work you can put the full amount through, but if this work is only a sideline, or the pc is used for other, more personal usage, you can only claim a percentage of the expense. It's the same with mobile phones, broadband etc.

Yes that is a shame, l liked the fact it was english, so easier to know what people are referring to, when so much content is american. l saw one of their articles on my facebook feed, & was surprised to see swearing & defamatory comments that should have been removed, & would have been deleted from mumsnet. lt still says that comments are moderated at the top of all their article though, which is odd.
l noticed in Jan that the german part of one of the clients which had provided lots of content, and had only been on there for a few months, disappeared again

Anyone working cres on Ap at the moment? Have recently been accepted on to it. Just wondering how others are finding the project and if it is a good earner?

I did wonder. Shame as it produced a lot of content

melonraspberry · 20/04/2023 15:23

@BecauseOfIndia ill have to look into how to do that then, I work elsewhere but have a company computer. The laptop I bought is mainly for DD’s homework, then I use it for freelance work as well. I couldn’t do the freelance work without it is the thing so it is necessary for my self employment, I can’t use my work pc.

melonraspberry · 20/04/2023 15:27

Maybe I should just put 50pc of the cost on then, as it’s part business part private use.

TheWhiteDoor · 20/04/2023 15:42

@melonraspberry Expense the whole cost or none at all. Expending part invites questions, it could be argued that the computer is a benefit in kind which has tax implications for you.

I would expense it all since it is necessary for your freelance work, and providing any personal use is incidental rather than significant, there is no issue with your DD using it for homework.

melonraspberry · 20/04/2023 17:42

@TheWhiteDoor thank you that’s really helpful

TheWhiteDoor · 21/04/2023 03:11

No probs. All or nothing is the safest rule to follow when it comes to claiming expenses.

TheWhiteDoor · 21/04/2023 13:56

Intellizoom seems deathly quiet since Easter hols. Last month I made about £400 on there as done so many surveys but only had 1 survey sent through this week and I wasn’t quick enough to do it. It seems very patchy!

have given up on SS after trying it once as it just seemed like an awful lot of work for absolute pennies.

Cravingsweets · 21/04/2023 16:55

Intellizoom has been quiet for ages for me, and all of a sudden I've been inundated, and I'm screening in for a lot more whereas before I screened out nearly every time. It seems to come in waves.

PleaseGoDontGoAgain · 25/04/2023 13:08

Has anyone been paid by potato yet?

LennyBennett · 26/04/2023 01:47

If you are self employed, a director, or shareholder, of a Limited Company - you can get £75 free when you apply for a Capital on Tap business credit card and make your first transaction.

How does it work?

Applying will have no impact on your credit score

Use my unique referral link to apply on the app:
https://account.capitalontap.com/apps/apply/?promo=2REFD217Z933_.

My promo code is 2REFD217Z93 if you want to apply online using the desktop application form instead.

Simply complete the application form and make sure you use my promo code 2REFD217Z93 to get the £75 free cash bonus

You will be rewarded with £75 free credit to your Capital on Tap account when you make your first transaction, which can be as little as £1.00.

Key points…

You will need to provide Limited Company details when you apply. I believe sole traders and freelancers were accepted in the past, but this is no longer the case. Proof of Limited Company status is now required, ie your Company number on Companies House.

You will be asked to link a business bank account to your new Captial On Tap account, but I just linked mine to an ordinary Natwest current account and it was all fine. You just tell them that the bank account you are linking is a business account, they don’t know it isn’t.

Once I received my card, I activated it and then used it to buy something on eBay. An even better way to make your first transaction is to buy yourself a £1 Amazon gift card for minimum spend. You don’t even have to wait until your physical card arrives to make your first purchase as they provide you with a virtual one to use in the meantime. Meaning, you can get the £75 free cash bonus as soon as you are approved, sometimes within the hour!

Your £75 bonus will be credited to your account not long after you have made your first transaction. It will show as a credit balance minus whatever you originally spent. So, if you used the card to buy a £1 Amazon gift card, your account will show as +£74.00 when your bonus comes in.

To withdraw, you select ‘transfer’ and send the +£74 (or whatever amount) to your linked bank account. Your Capital on Tap balance will then show as zero 0.00, ie nothing owing.

NB - this is a CREDIT CARD that allows you to transfer borrowed CASH directly to your bank account. There will be fees for doing this. Please read the T&Cs. If you just use the card for this offer, you will not owe them anything,

Here are the T&Cs for the £75 refer a friend scheme - please read before you start the offer.

https://www.capitalontap.com/en/legal/refer-a-friend-programme//_

They say the £75 bonus will be credited within 30 days of account opening, but mine was paid a lot quicker than that - it was the next day. Some people have since reported getting it within a few hours! As soon as it credited, I sent it to my bank account and now I have a zero balance and nothing to pay. I am keeping my Capital On Tap account as it is useful for in an emergency when you need cash quickly, eg for car repairs or a new washer.

Any questions, please just ask. Thank you 🙂

LTDR:

Apply for a business credit card in under 2 minutes

Receive a decision instantly

If approved, you will receive a free £75 cash bonus credited to your account very soon after you use your new card to make one purchase (ie usually less than a day), which can be as little as a £1 Amazon voucher for yourself.

Applying will have no impact on your credit score

Follow link to apply on the app:
https://account.capitalontap.com/apps/apply/?promo=2REFD217Z933_

My promo code should be pre-filled, but if not: 2REFD217Z93

i've noticed this too! I had loads in March but April has been quiet. I thought maybe they'd gone off me so it's good to know it's not just me :)

Yes I was paid, nearly a week ago now.

TrudyTrifle · 26/04/2023 17:59

@SundaeLove Suspect there may be a mass exodus to Modsquad if the reason you’re asking is what I think it is 🙁 If so then I’m in the same boat.

It depends on the project, but mine pays minimum wage.
