That's good to know - I would miss this as it's a steady income each month. I have racked my brain and I honestly can't think why it was rejected but honestly for £2 odd I can't worry about it too much. I was worried that it would stop me getting offered new studies so that's good to know.

3dogsnorth · 01/07/2021 22:07

Thanks for starting the new thread. I've had a good month with a combo of Crisp, uTest, Intellizoom and UserTesting. Not tallied up but I guess about £500. Was getting lots of Prolific surveys then updated my profile and had nothing at all since. Anyone else had this problem. Was getting a steady number of surveys before and now it's zero! Got approved for Rev, just need to get started. Well done everyone!

Rgy3250999 · 01/07/2021 22:09

Thanks all, I will fill it in tomorrow and get cracking with some work.

I’ve just recently started with a Rev and thankfully have only done the learning tasks so far, but it’s sooo hard! It’s picked up some bits on each one that I’ve got wrong but I don’t know which would constitute serious errors or if they’re just minor errors.

All of my tasks have been non-verbatim and I’ve followed the style guide but I’m finding that it’s not easy to follow. I’ve taken out what I would call fillers but then they’ve left some in, which I don’t understand. I’ve also found one task had a couple of bits that I just couldn’t understand and they were supposedly really easy ones. I slowed them down, turned up the volume and played them over and over but couldn’t catch it.

I’m hoping that Lionbridge may be easier so I’ve got another regular job if Rev kick me out. Does anyone know if Lionbridge has a minimum number of hours though as I can’t remember.

Placemarking. I need to get a grip this month!

flummingbird · 01/07/2021 22:17

Hi all. New here... I've been doing a little with Rev the lady few weeks but I've just gone under their minimum rating (which is seriously high) so expect to get booted off any time. Can I ask what Appen is? Ice seen people posting about doing projects, is it easy to fit round family life like Rev?

flummingbird · 01/07/2021 22:18

Jeez, sorry for typos...

mayblossominapril · 01/07/2021 22:27

Hi all, also new here. I’ve been doing surveys for about 6 months now average about £50 a month, I print the vouchers and save for Christmas. I do need to find some more survey sites because I’m not getting many surveys.
The last few weeks I’ve done really well selling anything we don’t need anymore on face book and eBay and I have a few ideas of things I don’t have to buy or make to sell on eBay. I do like selling items.
I am going to try matched betting next, DB has had a steady extra bit of money from it.

Catatemyhomework · 01/07/2021 22:59

@Rgy3250999, LB minimum is 10 hours a week. I joined them in May and definitely haven't done 10 hours a week as I was working on other projects and they haven't kicked me off yet. Also, depending on the projects you work on, their idea of 10 hours a week is different from mine, e.g. with maps analyst I am still very slow and it takes me ages so my 1 hour constitutes their 15 minutes estimated time. I don't think they mind as long as yoh log in fairly frequently. It's my evening project. I try and do an hour a night week days.

@flummingbird, appen is similar to LB. It has a variety of different projects, short and longer term, e.g. voice recording projects, transcription, social media evaluation, search engine evaluation. Just apply for everything and eventually something will come up. I registered with them in 2019 and have only recently got some decent longer term projects but you might be lucky to get one straight away. There's no rhyme nor reason so it seems.

lannister · 01/07/2021 23:05

Thanks for new thread. Placemarking

lannister · 01/07/2021 23:22

Wow! Amazing amounts @rhij86 @Catatemyhomework & @YonderTweek. Well done! Just curious does anyone do this full time only? Or do you all have another job?

Catatemyhomework · 01/07/2021 23:31

@lannister, I used to have another job but for various reasons I left it. This is now my job. I don't know for how long, but for now I'm not out of pocket compared with my old job. I have had some scarily quiet months and thought about applying for another job and then something turns up! I would be happy to do this permanently. I think the trick is to have a variety of revenue streams, so if something is quiet, hopefully something else is busier and then there's adhoc jobs and surveys and matched betting to tied you over. My working habits have become very bad though, like lying on the sofa with my laptop all day and my fit bleeps at me and tells me I need to get up and move. Not great for weight loss I must say! 😂

MrsWombat · 02/07/2021 07:22

Happy July everyone!

For June I did 17 hours a week overtime on my day job as well as Appen SD so I'll be very happy come payday. (I work very part-time normally)

Appen $1048.35
Crisp £8 Grin
Merch by Amazon - £15.34 (mostly feminist t-shirts)
Kindle Direct Publishing - £38.45 (mostly fathers day puzzle book gifts)

Redcrayons · 02/07/2021 08:20

£145 ish for me. Crisp, Prolific and a bit of appen. Was hoping for a bit more but I’ve had a busy month IRL.

Looking to double that this month as I’ve got accepted into Cres* and just waiting for ID verification on Rev.

Boringusername1 · 02/07/2021 08:55

Do any of you fill in a tax return & can offer some advice?
If you get paid in $ what figures do you put on the tax return? Just the £ figure that hits your bank?
Thanks :)

Yes, this is what I did last year. Still need to do this year. Blush
Boringusername1 · 02/07/2021 09:08

Ahh thanks so much ! It’s all a minefield. I’ve done mine now but wanted to check the $ / £ amount thing. I’m also just not brave enough to actually submit it in case I’ve done it wrong haha

Buster27 · 02/07/2021 11:09

@lannister I'm newly FT to this. Not sure I'd have been brave enough to leave my job, but my PT job contract ended so I'm going to try this FT over the summer. Original plan was to look for a new job after the summer but will see how it goes.
I agree with @Catatemyhomework that having multiple revenue streams is key.

Wooolffff · 02/07/2021 11:51

Hello, I used to be on previous thread but deregistered and have now rejoined.

I’ve been invited to do the Yu* exam on Appen. My question, is the exam really hard and is it the job worth putting the study in for. I have previously been on two long term year long projects on Appen, so if this was similar it would be worth it.

Adelais · 02/07/2021 14:07

I made around £300 in June, mostly from Crisp. Aiming for £400 this month.

countrypunk · 02/07/2021 14:09

Hello everyone, tentatively joining 🙂

I've signed up to Prolifico and Appen and have already earned about 30 quid over yesterday and today!

I applied to Crisp Thinking today but just got an email saying I'd scored 18/20 and the pass mark is 19. Bummer.

Can I ask, why do you asterisk the names of your Appen projects?

superpinkgirl · 02/07/2021 14:22

Hi everyone,
I made £600 on Ap**n and £60 on potato for June.
Some amazing totals again this month. Smile

YonderTweek · 02/07/2021 14:22

@lannister I'm kind of FT but not really. I quit my real life job when the pandemic started last year and I've been plodding along doing this since last summer. I do have my 4yo to look after and I try to dedicate my days to hanging out with him and doing stuff with him, so I mostly work early mornings and late nights. He has been going to nursery two-ish days a week since Jan so I've had those days to catch up on clicking but it does depend on whether there are tasks available, so very hit and miss. Hmm

I reckon when he starts school I can really get stuck in on all this. I'm not really interested in finding a real job at the moment so this will have to do. Haha. I am thinking of putting some of my earnings towards driving lessons because we're moving to the sticks and I have to learn to drive. Blush

flloyd · 02/07/2021 14:46

This week has been awful here! Prolific has been very slow, Intellizoom keeps telling me I don't qualify for studies they have sent me, appen hasn't come up with anything and whilst I qualified (ha) for Rev and have completed 1 assignment which took h o u rs (for the princely sum of $6) I am now waiting for feedback on that before I do any more as I don't want the shove before I have even got off the grid as it were. Feeling a bit despondent as we need some stuff for our smallholding and I really wanted to summon enough pennies to get my horse back into competing - just hoping I can earn some extras in July. I am soooo pleased to have joined this though; just earning a bit extra will make a massive difference to me. Hope everyone earns well this month :) :)

Frenchdoors1 · 02/07/2021 15:16

Hello @countrypunk
You can apply again and again on Crisp thinking until you get 19 or even 20. But the pass rate is 19 anyway.

Asterisks are used because we are not allowed to name the projects etc that we are doing.

You can name the company though

Thanks @Frenchdoors1! That's really helpful. I'll apply to Crisp again 🙂
