Whoa, you all sound an amazing, resourceful bunch!

I've never heard of any of these. I could do with a few extra pennies. Please could someone provide a link to previous threads so I can trawl through them and make notes so I don't keep having to ask in the July one pretty please?

Also to the very experienced among you, which companies would you apply to first and which would you leave until you have a bit more experience? Are some worth putting on the back burner so you don't fail their qualifying tests until you've got better at them?

Sounds really exciting! Also does anyone have a link to help me swot up on matched betting?

Thank you!

lannister · 03/07/2021 11:51

Thanks guys @Catatemyhomework @Buster27 @YonderTweek for answering my question about doing this FT. It's given me hope that it's achievable. Excited to go for it over the summer :)

lannister · 03/07/2021 11:59

@PoseyFlump welcome to the thread. If you scroll to the top there's some useful links to get you started. Quick & easy ones to start with are Prolific & Intellizoom surveys. I would sign up to as many sites as you can though because the likes of Appen & Crisp usually have a long waiting period before getting accepted to start. For matched betting I've used profit accumulator & oddsmonkey which I found very good. Hope this helps.

PoseyFlump · 03/07/2021 13:12

Thank you @lannister that is helpful Smile

Does anyone have a good guide to creating Kindle Direct Publishing books please? They sound interesting. I understand they might not make much money per book sale but I like the idea that once you've created one it can keep on selling with no further work. Is that the idea?!

lilmishap · 03/07/2021 19:24

Are Bemyeye or roamler worth downloading?

Junobug · 03/07/2021 20:02

@tinyradish is that n**e? I've been kicked off and it looks most people have but haven't seen any updates on it ending???
I've only just started and it's such a handy project. I really only have an hour a day with 4 children at home.

tinyradish · 03/07/2021 22:23

Yes that's the one @Junobug that's really interesting. So sorry you didn't get much time on it!

lannister · 04/07/2021 08:24

Has anyone ever taken the Y*n exam? The guidance is Loooooong, & I hear it's tough, wondering if I should bother

lilmishap · 04/07/2021 08:50

@lannister I would go for it, it's a regular very long term project.
I've applied a few times but never heard back it's a bit of a holy grail if you can pass it.

AnotherOne4 · 04/07/2021 10:35

*@lannister I have no idea what Yn is, but I've heard snippets of info about what a great project it is. I don't have it Sad but like @lannister said, it seems to be the holy grail......I'd give it a go.

ruralwanderer · 04/07/2021 15:06

Managed to catch 15 minutes of a x2 surge on Potato this morning!! :D Felt so good to have constant content and for good money too. Hope it's the start of it picking up again Grin

namechangerforthisconfessionn · 04/07/2021 19:52

My first month I earned approx £160 after conversion rates...quite pleased with that to say that half of June was spent trying to figure out how everything worked Grin
Hopefully July will be more Smile

Tohaveandtohold · 04/07/2021 22:23

Does anyone know if 2 people in the same household can work for app*n?

Rgy3250999 · 04/07/2021 22:36

To anyone else on Rev....how on earth do you make money from this? I have finally got to the point of doing real jobs that will be rated and it is soooo hard! I’ve picked those rated 60-70 (I think) but they’re all in industrial units with so much crosstalk and background noise. I have finally completed one task, worth a whopping $3.60 and was supposedly 6 minutes work - it took me 3 hours lol! This can’t be right.

After all that, I’ve also realised that I left one of them as speaker 2 when they gave a name, although I timestamped as unable to work out exactly what it said. Will I be penalised for not having used my guess at a name instead of speaker 2? Absolutely convinced I’ll be kicked out after one job 😭

Does anyone find Lionbridge any easier? I’ve also been accepted for them but haven’t yet read all the info to get started. I’m just hoping this may be slightly more profitable as I doubt I’ve covered the charging of my computer for my Rev task.

Any other newbie Revvers?

Junobug · 05/07/2021 06:43

Ok. So if N**e has ended, can anyone recommend any new projects to apply to on Appen. I really can't do more than 10 hours at the moment and lots seem to be 10-20 hours.

3dogsnorth · 05/07/2021 07:08

@Rgy3250999 hi, I'm a step behind you on Rev. Just completed the easy and intermediate transcriptions which were okay but terrified about accepting paid work. Do you get feedback about the training stuff other than checking it against the proper one yourself?

MrsWombat · 05/07/2021 07:22

Yes, that's the idea.

I use PowerPoint to create the insides and photoshop for the covers which get converted to pdfs and uploaded to Amazon. But you can also use Canva for free and there are plenty of free resources out there. I have a Black Friday sale Creative Fabrica subscription which I use for artwork.

There are plenty of facebook groups and youtube videos out there. Don't buy anything until you've had a play around and made your first sale on something basic.

This is a good channel to follow to learn the basics: www.youtube.com/c/StackinProfit/videos (he has a facebook group)

bowespublishing.gumroad.com/ Is a good place to get bits for the insides. I bought everything he sells in the Black Friday sales last year and they are all fab. Saves me lots of time with sizing things up and my Sudoku puzzle books sell ok. There are lots of free bits on there too. (He also has a facebook group)

www.facebook.com/groups/2690865597847008 There is a Chrome extension too that will help you with niche ideas.

This is my gumroad. peppermintcreams.gumroad.com/ Everything is basic but free and mostly made with Bowes powerpoint plug ins.

I've not made much money but it's certainly kept me sane over the pandemic, and what I've uploaded will stay on there forever (or until the Amazon algorithms bury it) It's nice to wake up to a sale.

Rgy3250999 · 05/07/2021 08:33

@3dogsnorth No you don’t get any other feedback on what your metrics would be if it had been graded, which I think would have been helpful.

Just received an email to say my work has been graded as a 4 and 5. The 4 was given due to me not putting my guess of a name as the speaker name (so lesson learnt there) and also one small error where I’d misheard something. This is the bit that I find most difficult as I was fairly sure I had accurately transcribed it but even the easy files are difficult to me.

I will persevere a bit longer but I’d make more money on surveys at this rate, especially when the $ are converted to £.

3dogsnorth · 05/07/2021 10:14

@Rgy3250999 I'm not sure about taking the leap into paid work. It's so much harder than I thought it would be! I'll plough on with reading the guidelines and practice stuff for a bit. I think it would get easier as time goes on but I don't think they are very forgiving!

swiftt · 05/07/2021 10:21

@Rgy3250999 ignore what the audio quality is rated as. I don’t find it accurate at all. Especially if you prefer British accent files, they’re often marked as more difficult with it being a US site so it’s worth sifting through the higher paying jobs. Earnings get much better if you can get to Plus level, and also the quicker you get. Have you passed rookie level yet? If not, take short and clear files - yes, they pay less. Once you graduate, you get access to more files. I don’t take files that pay less than a certain amount per minute, and I find it a great earner now - but it wasn’t great to begin with. I should caveat this with the fact that I’m a stupidly fast typer, which helps!

TheLolaMontez · 05/07/2021 12:36

flicking between CW UHRS, prolific and potato today, potato queue was in single figure earlier so I just didn't bother. Still waiting to hear back from Rev, would be nice to get on there but not sure how good I was during the qualification. Something come through pleeeeeeease. Also on N'le with App but it seems to have just gone poof all of a sudden, not been able to access it at all so far this month. Sad times.

mommathatwearspink · 05/07/2021 13:10

I’ve just signed up to Appen, would anyone be able to give me some advice on how to really get started?

MrsWombat · 05/07/2021 13:43

Talking of passive income from Print of Demand items, in the past hour I've had two random sales (one UK and US) from my Redbubble store, total royalties £8. I've not sold anything from there since February so it was a bit random to get two at once. please be more

Redcrayons · 05/07/2021 14:02

@mommathatwearspink sign up for every project on there that you can feasibility do, loads of them never go anywhere. And even if you qualify, you don’t have to do them.
I swerve things like they require a language I don’t speak or require a minimum hours commitment that I couldn’t do.

If you do qualify for a project, ask on here and someone can tell you if it’s worth it or not.
