Hi all, happy May. Welcome to this months thread. I'll load up the link later. If anyone else wants to do it, feel free, I'm rubbish at it.

The idea of this thread is to earn a bit of extra cash, as the title suggest. Have a look and these threads go back a while and might give you some ideas.

Newbies welcome. We're a lovely, helpful lot.

Evening all! I haven't been on the thread yet this month, what's SD? Appen project ...?

seizethecuttlefish · 19/05/2021 21:46

@fandangofandango yes it's an Ap project. Never even came up on my options. I'm incredibly jealous Wink

@seizethecuttlefish thanks! No I don't think I've seen it either ....!

@LoLo2020 Well good luck and keep us updated how you get on Smile

Catatemyhomework · 20/05/2021 00:11

Managed 5 hours on SD today. It's been hard going though with the start stop. Also did 2 hours on LB but just so slow and scared of making mistakes so probably only earning £2 ph at the moment but need to keep on at it if I want to gain confidence.

AnotherOne4 · 20/05/2021 06:40

Keep chipping away at it @Catatemyhomework
Last push before it ends tomorrow. (hopefully it carries on) I think I did five yesterday too. I might just scrap my 20 hours this week.....then again, I might not.....

MrsWombat · 20/05/2021 07:01

I've not managed much on SD as it comes in dribbles for me with makes it awkward. Glad it's working ok for some of you. Was there much work last night?

I'm finding it works best for me from 7.30pm onwards. I have a few stoppages, but nothing more then five minutes I'd say.
redgirl1 · 20/05/2021 07:23

I have stopped potato too. I’m sure I’ll have regrets when my main appen project dries up. I took a look at what I was doing and stressing out about lack of content while making pennies, it’s just not worth it. I have so many better things to do with my time.

AnotherOne4 · 20/05/2021 07:25

Oh I've also got myself a proper timer/countdown clock now. So I'm spending as close to a minute on each one as I can. Not sure if it actually makes a difference, but I do find the work more consistent doing it this way (spending a minute, even if I can decide the answer in ten seconds) then when I first started.

Exactly what I do :) the minute feels more consistent. What's your average RPH according to the metrics? Mine is running at 67 ish. Bit worried it's over 60 but hey ho, let's see what happens! Anyone else been offered the A**O project (Appen) Listening to speech?
LoLo2020 · 20/05/2021 07:40

PS that average RPH is across the project :)

AnotherOne4 · 20/05/2021 07:45

Last time I worked out my RPH it was high Blush I should have lowered it now though. I'll work it out later. Gotta run now.....

Yes, I was offered that other job too.

YonderTweek · 20/05/2021 08:01

I was offered A**O too. I applied and we'll see what happens...

There seems to be work on SD now, which is nice. Is it definitely ending tomorrow though?

AnotherOne4 · 20/05/2021 08:08

No one seems to know when it’s ending @YonderTweek be nice if we get the wkd, seeing as we didn’t have last wkd.

busybea12 · 20/05/2021 08:28

@LoLo2020 Thank you, you were right its working now!

Can I ask a question about payments on Appen? As I understand I do the invoices myself on the 1st of the month for the jobs worked the previous month and I list them all on the one invoice? And I either put down how many tasks I've completed or a daily rate? Is that right? It's very confusing and I'm grateful for anybody that can help here

swiftt · 20/05/2021 08:45

Slightly concerned. I’ve just gone back and checked my RPH as an average since I started SD. It’s 270... Blush when I first started, I was keen as mustard and was flying through the jobs. I’ve been taking my time a lot more and pushing closer to a minute per job over the past while whilst work has been slow, but I think my stupid speediness when I first started as ruined my metrics. Do you think they could withdraw my pay for this, or as long as my work is accurate and the invoiced hours are accurate I’ll be okay? They obviously state a minimum and ideal RPH but they haven’t actually stated a maximum so... Blush

Frenchdoors1 · 20/05/2021 09:26

@swiftt I wouldn't worry about it though. A few people are wondering what to do for the best. They can see anyway that a Skip doesn't always take a full minute. Mine isn't really accurate either. Smile

I seem to remember reading in the guidelines that you should aim for the stated RPH or higher. Something like that. So I don't think you should be penalised for working faster, although everyone in the chat always says to work exactly to the RPH so that there's work for everyone. I reckon if there is a problem I'm sure they can check your performance and see that you have done your work, just a bit faster in the beginning. Grin
Frenchdoors1 · 20/05/2021 09:31

Yes I thought the same as @YonderTweek.
I've also just come on to say that I was going to do ,say, 60 in my 1sr hr this morning, so I added 60 on to the number next to Key Stats last 12 hrs, and the amount on there has dropped right down and i can't remember what the number was, so I'll have to guess now.

swiftt · 20/05/2021 09:45

@Frenchdoors1 @YonderTweek ah that’s reassuring. Thanks!

AnotherOne4 · 20/05/2021 10:04

@swiftt remember a few weeks ago we had a lot of skips where the widget didn’t display a link. That sent numbers through the roof!
My overall RPH is probs round about the same as yours. I’ll check later....

swiftt · 20/05/2021 10:52

@AnotherOne4 oh yeah!! That’s probably accounted for that actually.

Hello :)

So some jobs have an invoice automatically created by Appen and some don't (such as SD). So you have to go in and create one. Invoice has to be project specific, requires you to enter the hours worked per day (based on Pacific Standard Time which is 8 hours behind GMT).
