Hi all, happy May. Welcome to this months thread. I'll load up the link later. If anyone else wants to do it, feel free, I'm rubbish at it.

The idea of this thread is to earn a bit of extra cash, as the title suggest. Have a look and these threads go back a while and might give you some ideas.

Newbies welcome. We're a lovely, helpful lot.

@zippyswife I've found that the Appen Facebook surveys are a regular little earner for not a lot of effort, I've only had £30 from them for this month after exchange rate and PayPal fee but I've missed a couple and the timing intervals went a bit haywire during this invoice period but it seems to have settled so it's normally a bit more than that. Not a lot but it pays my hay bill for the month 😂

I find it easier to get motivated by thinking like that. I do transcription as well and today is invoice submission day for me so I've got one that I want to get done tonight, that has helped me focus. Next month's target is to do enough to pay for my latest vets bill 😬 but as half term is coming up I'll have more evening time to do that. I really enjoy transcription having never done it before and have found it to be the most flexible but reliable thing I've looked into. I've never got onto a 'proper' Appen project (probably because I can't do many hours) so being able to pick and choose really suits me. When I have reports to write after half term I'll just take on less files and it won't matter as long as I do a couple to make sure I've got an invoice to file the following month to stay active on the system.

@Heyha @swiftt Thanks for the welcome and advice. This is a stupid question but is transcribing just typing from audio? I'm fairly fast and accurate at typing snd would probably quite enjoy that as earning potential. Is there much work around for it?

Nowt on SD for me. I think I'm ready to sack this one off because I don't want to spend my days waiting for tasks. Also the audit email had my hours and RPH all wrong and the whole project is just a shambles.

@zippyswife it is! Different companies do have different style guides to follow though, so I tend to stick to one or two. I’d recommend Rev and TakeNote - Rev being super flexible, you can pick and choose files when you want to work. TakeNote you have to sign up to ‘shifts’ and you’re assigned a file to do. I know others on here do work for Way With Words which is meant to be good, but really difficult to pass the entrance test. There seems to be as much work as you want, really! Definitely a good place to start if you’re a good typist.

@YonderTweek I’m feeling the same about it. It’s an absolute shitshow and I’m wary of investing anymore of my time in it. I hope they at least get the pay right but I don’t even have much faith in that, all things considered.

It does seem to be a bit of a mess. Hope they get it sorted. I was looking forward to finishing my 20 hours this week and getting another 20 next week!

Can't remember who was asking about Cr...t on App. I'm on it but frankly, the rate is dire so I never work it. Just spend 20 mins trying to sort another App task and no nearer finished as the system is just sh!t.

Happy Friday everyone. Let's hear it for the freaking weekend (clearly showing my age here).

Does anyone do Lionbri* tasks? Not the map one with the huge test but the little tasks. I've done a few but they seem to run out quickly and then there's yet another set of guidelines to read for goodness knows how few tasks. Is it worth it?

So after reading this thread I applied for a few companies. Failed WWW (still baffled by this) but am on Rev and got past the rookie level which is great. Also on Prolific and got my LB test next week.

Are there any Revvers on here who could answer a couple of Qs?
Are all Revver transcripts graded? They're very vague about it and just wondering if I should wait to see my grades as I go or should just plough on. I really don't want my metrics to suddenly plummet and I get kicked off.

Also, do you find it gets easier, or you get faster as time goes on? At the moment it's taking me forever to do each transcript. Also it's really hard to find files with decent audio quality etc. which adds to my time, trying to slog through and find them.

Does it get better once you make it to plus?

@AnotherOne4 Just received an email saying the data has been paused for the time being, so I guess there is no point checking until they email again. Wonder what is happening?

I got that email too @FreoFeoh I'm so annoyed, one more hour and I would have made a bonus What are the chances of Ap fixing the issue between now and Monday. Pretty slim I think.

@AnotherOne4 I kept checking it and there's nothing. I hope it gets sorted for weekend as they may be well behind now, haha wishful thinking.

It is really annoying, I managed 21 hours this week and was hoping to get to 25 today, hopefully it will be a short pause. Some of their IT does seem a bit flaky, they email me about jobs on the adap part which then never show.

Hope it's not the end of the project. I was actually enjoying it and the potential for earning was fantastic. Please come back..... 😰
