How much is your weekly food shop?

My other half alway moans at how much I spend on the weekly shop. There’s 2 adults and 2 year old. I spend between £120 - £130 (in the UK) We are dairy free and go through 5/6 cartons of oatly milk a week, so there’s a tenner right there. Because he goes on at me so much I was starting to think it was a lot, however his brother and partner came round a couple of days ago and they started talking about their shop and his brother was saying he usually spends about £120 for 2 adults. So I’m curious, what do you all spend a week?

About £60 a week for two adults and two children BUT we also get a takeaway once a week most weeks and might grab a cheap lunch if we're out at the weekend. And OH tends but buy lunch on the go during the week when he's working- that certainly adds up.

LarsErickssong · 06/04/2021 16:43

£70-90 a week for 3 adults, one of which is lactose intolerant so have to get two sets of milk/cheese etc

FlyingBum · 06/04/2021 16:43

Between £70 - £100 in mainly aldi for 2 adults and 2 children. Includes alcohol, pull ups and dog food. But we have a takeaway once a week and eldest DC gets free school lunches (Scotland so free for P1 - P3).

laselvar · 06/04/2021 16:43

£200 -£220 for 3 adults and 1 child. Has to be gluten free which bumps it up a bit.

fairydustandpixies · 06/04/2021 16:45

£50 every three weeks for one adult and a dog.

ivfbabymomma1 · 06/04/2021 16:46

£80-£100 for a family of 3

wineandsunshine · 06/04/2021 16:47

£120-£150 depending on what is needed. Family of 6, with four hungry boys!

Dog food is separate.

champions55 · 06/04/2021 16:47

You'll get folk telling u they feed a family of 4 for £40 etc. That is quite steep though what u spend. I know I can be quite bad spending maybe anything from £90 to £120 for 2 adults, 3yr old and 1yr old. I just buy whatever I want (within reason).

OverByYer · 06/04/2021 16:48

Spied · 06/04/2021 16:49

Bluesheep8 · 06/04/2021 16:53

About £60 per week in Aldi for 2 adults and a cat. I plan meals carefully and we waste very little.

Hoppinggreen · 06/04/2021 16:54

About £200 pw from Ocado

user1471462115 · 06/04/2021 16:57

Cat food is extra about £4.00 a week
Wine is extra too, about £8.00 a week
So total of £72.00 a week

Normal meat and fish but we do eat a couple of vegan main meals a week. we love a lentil curry or a Chana Dahl shepherds pie

Bul21ia · 06/04/2021 16:58

@MummyJ12

Around £300 a week at the moment. It sounds excessive compared to others on this thread so I’m slightly embarrassed to admit that we’re spending this much Blush we don’t waste anything either! We are a family of 2 adults, 2 kids (one 13 and one 8).
Woahhh do you buy all your food in M&S?
liliesinbloom · 06/04/2021 16:59

£80 on average for one adult & 2 young teens

Inextremis · 06/04/2021 17:01

€100 or slightly less a week for 2 adults and 2 dogs, plus a Sunday roast for 3 adults. That includes around €20's worth of store cupboard cans etc. (beans, tomatoes, veg) in case we ever find ourselves having to self-isolate for 10 days (again, it's happened twice so far). The dogs are totally spoiled, and €20 of the budget goes on them. So I guess that leaves around €60 a week for the actual food/tea/coffee/loo roll etc. for 2 adults. We eat well!

CeeJay81 · 06/04/2021 17:03

£90-100 a week for everything. 2 adults, 2 kids 12 and 7. We don't have a car, so don't have the luxury of Lidl etc, Tesco delivery once a fortnight and coop(with staff discount) throughout the week.

PelvicFloorTrauma · 06/04/2021 17:05

MummyJ12 - I spend about the same (family of four plus a dog) BUT that includes everything (food, toiletries, cleaning products, alcohol, stationary, pet food).

GameSetMatch · 06/04/2021 17:06

Two adults and two children, we spend £160 a week I don’t even know how we spend all that. I try and be good but with little top up shops it ends up that much. We have a dairy free child, a vegetarian child and a fussy grown up.

MummyJ12 · 06/04/2021 17:07

Hi Bul21ia,
Ocado so yes, it’s M&S mainly. I know it’s a crazy amount but we’re all home at the moment and we really love our food! Saving money on eating out too at the moment.....

needadvice54321 · 06/04/2021 17:08

Including main shop and a top up - probably roughly £130. On top of this we normally have one takeaway

2 adults, two teens - all eat like adults!

Doesn't include dog food as I buy that monthly - roughly £50 a month

Oblomov21 · 06/04/2021 17:08

£200+ for Dh, me and 2 ravenous teens.

Forgot to add - I'm vegetarian so ours includes special bits for me
