How much is your weekly food shop?

My other half alway moans at how much I spend on the weekly shop. There’s 2 adults and 2 year old. I spend between £120 - £130 (in the UK) We are dairy free and go through 5/6 cartons of oatly milk a week, so there’s a tenner right there. Because he goes on at me so much I was starting to think it was a lot, however his brother and partner came round a couple of days ago and they started talking about their shop and his brother was saying he usually spends about £120 for 2 adults. So I’m curious, what do you all spend a week?

£70-90 per week 2 adults 4 kids ranging from 8-2. Includes bread and milk top ups and nappies and wipes every 2 weeks.
Cat food is about £15 a month.

Littlechickenlegs · 06/04/2021 17:16

£120 a week. Two adults. We don't go to restaurants or get take away.

Littlechickenlegs · 06/04/2021 17:18

@mummyj12 don't be embarrassed. Remember some of these posters will tell you they can make a roast chicken last all week for a family of four!

Bookworm19 · 06/04/2021 17:21

Approx £120-130 a week. Two adults, two small kids. DS has ASD so his food alone comes to approx £20-30
Then meat comes from butchers, organic eggs & dairy, nappies, occasional treat. Doesn't include toiletries or cleaning products.

Littlechickenlegs · 06/04/2021 17:22

Your spend sounds realistic to me OP. Challenge the scrooge to the prove how he can save money and still have enough and edible food without chasing bargains at individual supermarkets.

Kokosrieksts · 06/04/2021 17:22

100£ for 2 adults and a toddler weekly.

Bml11 · 06/04/2021 17:24

@Littlechickenlegs - he could happily live of cheap ready meals. Me and DS are 90% vegan as well so if we have say burgers, I’ve got to buy a vegan set for me and dink and then a set for him. I’ve told him to shut up anyway, he prob spends more on bet365 than I spend on food 🙄

well i'm only me now, and don't drink alcohol, and live quite simply.
shop at lidl. recently has averaged 35pound a week.
maybe a bit less as only go every other week. last two were 66 and 60.
that usually includes some cleaning item and possibly socks.
lidl sell oat and almond non-dairy drink.
i can recommend lidl for value and quality.

@MummyJ12

Hi Bul21ia, Ocado so yes, it’s M&S mainly. I know it’s a crazy amount but we’re all home at the moment and we really love our food! Saving money on eating out too at the moment.....
Tbh I can see how in M&S/Ocado!
Puddington · 06/04/2021 17:33

We do a weekly shop that usually comes to £50 and do occasional top-ups/grab random bits that take our fancy if we're out and get a takeaway once a week too. So maybe £75ish in total a week for everything including our takeaway. I'm a bit agog at the people spending £300! Trying to figure out what I could splurge on to make it come to that Grin There are only two of us though tbf.

katieg03 · 06/04/2021 17:36

I do a Tesco delivery £120 a month, £25 a week on fruit and veg and fresh packed lunch stuff. I literally live on fish, chicken, salad and rice though. £40 for a butchers pack per month. Probably £50 a month in home bargains on "snacks". I buy eggs from farm. I do a roast every other Sunday. Me and and 7 and a 10 year old so I guess £70-80 per week.

Blustered · 06/04/2021 17:37

£150 a week in M&S. 2 adults, 2 primary dc.

GintyMcGinty · 06/04/2021 17:41

2 adults and 2 children £130-£160 a week

eensyweensySpider · 06/04/2021 17:48

@MummyJ12

Around £300 a week at the moment. It sounds excessive compared to others on this thread so I’m slightly embarrassed to admit that we’re spending this much Blush we don’t waste anything either! We are a family of 2 adults, 2 kids (one 13 and one 8).
No shame in that! If you can afford it, why not? You can't put a price on good food 😋😋
Amberheartkitty · 06/04/2021 17:48

£200 per week. 6 of us

SavingsQuestions · 06/04/2021 17:53

300 a week is 15k a year.... more than I earn!!!

If I had the money though, why not?!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/04/2021 17:58

Two adults and one cat - about £80 per week all in. We tend to do a couple of Sainsbury’s deliveries, then top up with M&S or Tesco Express (no car).

OtherwiseKnownAsSheilaTh3Great · 06/04/2021 18:01

£220 a week ish. 3 adults and one teenager who eats like an adult. I do prioritise food though hence why we spend quite a bit

Dancingalong · 06/04/2021 18:03

£70-£90 per week for 2 adults and 2 children 6 and 9.

Anne1958 · 06/04/2021 18:06

We spend no more than £350 a month, inc all cleaning, toiletries and pet supplies - we do

You have very lucky cats.
