Tax credit - anyone got a date for the £500 payment yet?

I see a lot of tax credit recipients will be getting a £500 lump sum rather than the £20 a week - but has anyone had it yet or had a date for it? I get a small amount of tax credits and can't figure out if I'm eligible for the £500

makingmiracles · 24/03/2021 12:31

Only those who get working tax credit.

If eligible payment into bank account by 23rd April.

Tangledtresses · 24/03/2021 12:48

I got working tax credit then the latest payment my tax credits are down and no sign of working tax my pay hasn’t changed and I work more than 18 hours so no idea what is going on if I’ll get it or not.

Maverickess · 24/03/2021 13:37

You're eligible if you got WTC or CTC on 2 March, but says you may still be eligible if you are entitled to WTC but don't get a payment because your earnings are too high.
I was in receipt of both on 2 March, I'm no longer on WTC as my earnings are too high for this year, but will qualify again after the new tax year starts because I'll be expected to earn less this year.
So I've no idea if I'm eligible or not, guess I'll just have to see if it turns up or not. Supposed to be informed by letter or text in April, but I've often received letters after any changes have been implemented to explain them.
Clear as mud then.

Crappyfridays7 · 24/03/2021 13:46

It’s very confusing isn’t it, my pay this year is about £50 more than last year - am a nurse so it fluctuates depending on how many nights etc I do. I find them very confusing as you say clear as mud 😕

My app goes up to mid May at the moment. My tax credits go down but no sign of the one off payment

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 24/03/2021 13:58

I saw something somewhere saying the payment won't show on the app

purpleme12 · 24/03/2021 14:00

What's the cut off point then that means you don't receive working tax credit?

GransServices · 24/03/2021 17:51

I don't think the one off payment shows on the app

Mines too, tho I'm still getting some wtc but the link said it won't be shown on your online account, you will get a text or letter.
SpideyMom · 24/03/2021 19:04

I'm sorry I never read the link. Fingers crossed.

I always hate renewal as my tax credits always go down whilst I submit my pension contributions. It never gets sorted for months so fingers crossed I receive the £500 to help whilst they get rectified

Orangesandlemons77 · 25/03/2021 14:56

I asked them online if it goes to the CTC or WTC account and they told me WTC.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 25/03/2021 17:58

I get wtc but ive not had a temporary increase so unsure if i will get this £500 or not.

superstar84 · 25/03/2021 18:00

Mines gone down £109 every 4 weeks

The £500 isn't showing, I get the disability element which I'm hoping means we'll get the £500 but would like some sort of confirmation

pisspants · 28/03/2021 00:19

I'm also dying to know this and came on this topic to see if there was a thread. I don't get wtc any more because of my earnings but still get etc. From what I've read, it seems like I could be eligible for the payment but cannot find anything concrete about it anywhere. Am just hoping and waiting.

pisspants · 28/03/2021 00:19

ctc not etc!

pisspants · 28/03/2021 00:26

just looked on the gov.uk website again and it's clear as mud. It only says that if you meet either of the conditions that you "may" get the payment. So how are they deciding who out of those 2 groups receives it,? detail government please!

Orangesandlemons77 · 28/03/2021 11:31

On the chat they said they didn't know much either, guess just have wait and see.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 29/03/2021 13:15

I really really could do with this money...my sons just lost his job and my car is dying...keeping everything crossed.

Reiningitin · 30/03/2021 05:11

I've just looked at my banking app as I always do on waking (sad) and I have a payment going in tomorrow of £597!!? As well as another random payment of £92. The £92 one I was expecting as it showed up on my HMRC app but the larger amount isn't shown on there and is a complete surprise. It's shown as "Child Tax Credit." I don't get working tax credit and wasn't even sure if I was eligible as I don't quite work 30 hours a week. No idea then if this is the one off Rishi payment - why £597 and not £500?!

perfectpainting · 30/03/2021 07:22

@Reiningitin that sounds like it but strange that it's over £500. I check my bank every morning, could really do with the money or at least knowing if I am getting it

I didn't know about this! But I've just read about it online. It won't show up on the app but they'll write to you in April to confirm your eligibility.
Reiningitin · 30/03/2021 07:41

@perfectpainting fingers crossed and I hope you get news soon, I'm also confused that it will not even be April tomorrow when I receive this and I had no text or letter.
