@redgirl1

Hi Ap&en users I have been putting off finishing my qualification for A£&r. I see there are complaints at the moment. Do you still think it is worth doing ? Advice greatly appreciated.
There's definitely a risk of not getting reimbursed as per the promised schedule. However, I have done three rounds and my only complaint is the rubbish exchange rate they use. I wouldn't do it if not getting the reimbursement for a while would cause me problems. I would hope that any reimbursement problems would be sorted eventually though, so I'm going to keep taking the risk for now.
Heyha · 27/01/2021 12:45

I've had the ok to do some of the Facebook New* surveys but then I go in and nothing there.

Bit the bullet and went for Pec as well as haven't been getting anything else to do (was worried about overload with all the warnings on the Pec front page) but haven't had anything through for that yet either.

So currently on a big fat zero from Ap in general

YonderTweek · 27/01/2021 12:46

Same as above. I've done three rounds with no issues, apart from getting stressed out during the first round because I wanted to get everything right. Grin I think if you follow the guidelines (which have been updated recently so make a bit more sense now) to the T, you should be ok. There are a few people in the chat who have not been reimbursed, but it seems that eventually everyone gets their reimbursements. I guess it depends on if you can wait the couple of months it takes them to sort it. Hmm I'm still going to do it though because I've enjoyed it. I'm crossing my fingers I'll get selected for the February round. It's become something to look forward to these days. Haha.

ruralwanderer · 27/01/2021 14:33

@redgirl1, I've only done two rounds - November and January. November went off without a hitch and I've not had any communication this month to suggest there are any issues so I'm not expecting any problems. I've also been able to return a £100 gaming chair for a full refund (bar return postage) so will be well in profit, even with the exchange rate issues, and have also ended up with a jumper I really like to keep and a little present for my niece, so personally I'd say go for it but follow the guidelines to the T!

minnimiss · 27/01/2021 14:35

Those of you who work App** how do I get my invoices into a format I can give to my accountant ?

windmill26 · 27/01/2021 17:19

Hi,where do I find the Facebook surveys? I had a quick look on the main page but I can't see anything ...

rosamoschata · 27/01/2021 18:54

Anybody else on Pol*ck? I doubt I will get the test batch done in time, I just can't get up any speed on Am*sand let alone apply the zillion guidelines correctly. A bit depressing as I never mastered B*e either..Blush - just couldn't work fast enough.

Any tips on Pol*ck, anyone?

Buster27 · 27/01/2021 21:01

Agree with previous posters about Am**. I've been on the last three rounds and it's all gone fine so I really like it. The last two rounds I've returned £100-£200 of items too so it's been a nice earner. If you do it definitely take it really slowly the first time and make sure you're doing everything by the guidelines (the chat is helpful if you get stuck).

@rosamoschata I've passed the test batch for pol*ck (I've done a few transcription projects so had a bit of a headstart). Feel free to send a PM if there's any way I can help.

Tattiespuds · 27/01/2021 23:06

@unicornpoopoop I've been looking to Lionbridge and watched a video on the exam and I must say it looks difficult to pass. I'm quite confused on how they reach the correct answers for some of it. Is all the work like that? Also how many hours are you doing for the £350 - 750?

Am*r people, how long does it take to get reimbursed. Also is it easy enough. I've finally gotten and now passed the qualification questionnaire so waiting to see if i make the next round although its a lot of money to spend if i risk losing it for a pile of rubbish.

rosamoschata · 27/01/2021 23:34

Thank you @Buster27 I'll have another go in the morning and then I just might.

ruralwanderer · 28/01/2021 06:45

You get reimbursed on the next pay day so usually mid month of the following month.

unicornpoopoop · 28/01/2021 07:28

@Tattiespuds that would be roughly between 10 and 20 hours a week. I'm usually more on the lower end though.

The questions seem a little long winded to start with but then once you get used to them it's quite easy. You get test questions thrown in every month and then get scored on those. If you get below a certain score, you get your account on hold whilst you get more training. I'm now usually getting between 90% and 96%.

I also found that there was a couple of things that I just hadn't understood from the instructions and this had been picked up, and a member of the team had messaged me to tell me where I was going wrong and it suddenly clicked and made sense. So they are very helpful in that way.

The question types in the test aren't all the question types either. I guess they're the most difficult ones. Sometimes the tasks are much more simple but like I said once you get started, you will start understanding it a lot more and it becomes pretty simple

unicornpoopoop · 28/01/2021 07:30

@Tattiespuds also in regards to Amur, you get reimbursed the following month.

I stick the purchases on my credit card, then anything I return gets refunded back to my credit card so this comes in quicker than the reimbursements anyway

unicornpoopoop · 28/01/2021 10:35

Just got my invoice for Amur and I thought they had doubled the piece rate but it's just the usual amount. Was this double confirmed?

whysotriggered · 28/01/2021 10:52

@unicornpoopoop I am sure that's what they said but looking at the invoice it has not been doubled. I've been trying to find the email where it was mentioned but no luck.

whysotriggered · 28/01/2021 10:59

@unicornpoopoop Found it. It's on the project homepage so surely that is confirmed and should be the case. Will send a support ticket.

Winterjoy · 28/01/2021 11:02

Anyone new on og*n? Have received sign in details today - can't believe I've finally got onto something ongoing after being signed up to A*en for almost a year!

didireallyjustsaythat · 28/01/2021 11:36

Just got an email accepting me onto the next round of Am*r. It's my first go at this project, I'm really excited....

bookgirl1982 · 28/01/2021 11:46

Ooh that's early @didireallyjustsaythat the email isn't due til Monday night.

LimeJellyforBrains · 28/01/2021 12:04

The Amur project page definitely says 2 piece rates per purchase. I have screenshot it just in case.

anxiouswaiting · 28/01/2021 12:06

Mt Am** also only has 1 piece rate each, but disappointing.

Anyone done Kar**a? I signed up because it said you didn't have to show your face in the recordings but now they have changed it and said you do. So I won't be doing that now.

I've been offered the trial batch of Poll*so may give that a go later.

I also haven't done my potatoes this month so really need to get on with that. Had little one off nursery because of a Covid case in his class so getting work done is a challenge - he is going stir crazy and totally bored of being stuck at home!

AnotherOne4 · 28/01/2021 12:43

You all seem really knowledgable and up on all of these sites.

I feel like I just go round in circles with them all Sad

ruralwanderer · 28/01/2021 13:31

@anotherone4, it takes time to get your head around it. I'd recommend starting with Intellizoom or Prolific to build your confidence while your wait for Appen and/or Crisp to start to pay off. I've been doing this since finding these threads just over a year ago and it's only really now that I understand most of what people are talking about on here (I have no clue when it comes to Lionbridge!)

Buster27 · 28/01/2021 13:44

My last am** purchase arrived today so will be up to date with my reviews once I've done this one. Hopefully the piece rate amount will be addressed soon.

@AnotherOne4 hang in there, for me everything seemed to suddenly take off at the same time (after ages of not getting much work), hopefully it will pick up for you too.

AnotherOne4 · 28/01/2021 13:52

ruralwanderer and Buster27 - thanks for your replies.

I've been on Prolific and Neevo for awhile now. I find them really easy to understand. But the work seems to have dried up on those.

I've passed the Potato test, just waiting on that on.

It's Appen and Lionsbridge, that I'm struggling with. I do think it's a 50/50 thing. 50% being ME and 50% being all the jargon and nevigating websites that I'm struggling with.
