Have had some for a few months. First month I won around £150. I think that spoiled me. One month nothing. Since have won around £20. ‘Won’ is a funny word as it’s kind of a random share of the interest we would otherwise get.

toomuchfaster · 03/10/2020 07:50

I have only won (£25) twice in my life, actually thinking of cashing in. Only have a couple of hundred, is it worth keeping them? I can't afford more at the moment.

SayakaMurata · 03/10/2020 07:54

I win most months, in the past 6 months I've won a total of £150. But then I have £30,000 worth of premium bonds (plus more in guaranteed income and guaranteed growth bonds).

Every month I daydream about winning £1m. I plan to give up my teaching job immediately!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/10/2020 07:57

@toomuchfaster unless uou need that money then leave them there

Always a chance you will win. Someone has to - unlike the lottery

Interest rates are so low at the moment that if put in a bank it wouldn’t make much

@Blondeshavemorefun I guess I will at the moment, its only about £300 so very little chance that I will win!
@SayakaMurata that explains why I haven't won! I can't afford any where near that much.

HeronLanyon · 03/10/2020 08:55

Well I have an email to say I’ve won something but can’t find my customer number or whatever it is they need. Aibu to let my hopes skyrocket during my period of not knowing how much !?

TinkysWinky · 03/10/2020 09:59

ooh heron thats quite early for email I won £50 but no email

if you go to login you can do forgotten my ns&i number and they will email it - - good luck!

Juliecloud · 03/10/2020 10:44

I didn’t win anything this month. Last month was my first month and I won £25 on £14000. It gave me hope. I reinvested it. I was so disappointed to not get anything this month. Oh well. I’m hoping to beat the interest rate of an ISA over the year.

Lemming20 · 03/10/2020 10:52

I have £5k and haven’t won anything for about a year Sad

Rudolphian · 03/10/2020 10:54

I won £50. 2x25.
But have got a large amount invested.
First month playing

Mirrorxx · 03/10/2020 10:57

I’ve just cashed in the 10k I had in premium bonds. I used to win £25 most months but it seemed to have stopped and that’s before the coming reduction in prizes

Isobels · 03/10/2020 11:16

Sorry if this is a silly ? I’m unsure how they work.. Is your money safe in premium bonds? I have done some minimum research and says your money can decrease due to inflation if you do not get regular wins?

Isobels · 03/10/2020 11:17

I have done minimal research*

blue25 · 03/10/2020 11:19

£50 this month. Won £225 so far this year.

VanGoghsDog · 03/10/2020 11:24

Your money is safe.

The money doesn't decrease as such, but it loses value aka "buying power" due to inflation.

If you had a £50 note in your purse, today it might buy you a week's shopping. But if inflation is high, in a month it won't quite buy a week's shopping. It's still the same £50, it just has less value against other things.

Money in premium bonds is govt backed, so it's safe, but it doesn't go up. So inflation erodes the value of it. Hence why our grandparents had the odd £100 worth, yet most people these days put thousands in. Their money had that value to them then.

Bedsheets4knickers · 03/10/2020 11:25

We've had very little joy . My 10 year old son was gifted £1000 PB and he's only ever won 2x&£25 in the 10 years he's had them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Dinosauraddict · 03/10/2020 11:26

Thanks for creating the new thread.

Lepetitpiggy · 03/10/2020 11:28

I put 10,000 last July from what my mum left me and I've got back £25 every month apart from 2, which is pretty nice considering the interest rates. I know a lot of people think it's a bad place to put money but I am fine with it!

ssd · 03/10/2020 11:29

I've had a £10 premium bond for 44 years. Never won a thing. Don't even know if I'm in the draw. Does having a bond automatically enter you into the prize draw?

SummerOfComedy · 03/10/2020 11:30

Won 3 x 25 last month and 2 x 25 this month.

I downloaded the app on my phone and it's really handy. NS&I Prize Checker.
You need your NS&I number. (Not individual PB numbers).
It keeps a record of any winnings of the last 6 months amongst other things.

Lepetitpiggy · 03/10/2020 11:31

Yes, the app is great!

mrsbyers · 03/10/2020 11:32

My first month with £20k invested - won £25 which I’m dead chuffed about

NerrSnerr · 03/10/2020 11:33

Thanks for the thread I lost the last one I long time ago. I won £25 in July and haven't won since. I only have about £1500 in so don't expect wins all the time. We use premium bonds for children's birthday and Christmas money to keep it safe for them for when they're older. Hoping to have enough for something to go towards like driving lessons/ car/ insurance or university when they're older.

Isobels · 03/10/2020 11:34

Thanks! @VanGoghsDog

FAQs · 03/10/2020 11:35

Nothing for me this month.
