@Horehound
It is ages since I signed up although I checked before I replied to the PP and my accounts are still active. I only use Appen projects now though.

GalaxyGirl24 · 29/07/2020 17:45

Wow this is an amazing thread and it really seems like this works out for a lot of you! I've just stumbled across this post, but have tried things like this before with very little luck so I would say I'm definitely a newbie to it all!
Just entering maternity leave in the next month (baby due August) so this would be amazing for having a bit of extra cash:

Just done my first Prolific study which was okay and earnt £1.45 but it is waiting for feedback it says? Any advice on this and also on which other sites are good/best for a complete newbie

GalaxyGirl24 · 29/07/2020 18:29

Also, do you have to pay tax on ones like Prolific/Appen/alClickworker? I'm UK based x

bubbles519 · 29/07/2020 18:45

How many calls have people done on the new Neevo task where you have to ask a question three different ways?

morriseysquif · 29/07/2020 18:49

@Tootsietoes

It was definitely over 6 months ago since I did the crisp test. Maybe even over a year. Think I can assume I never got that one.

Hopefully that's the case @WonderTweek I don't mind starting of smaller jobs if it eventually opens up better earners. Hopefully someone can comment on that?

I had forgotten all about it when I got the invite and it was 11 months ago!
Carrotgirl87 · 29/07/2020 19:08

Ok I know neevo has bad rep, but I'm giving it one good go at this audio transcribe task and if I get paid great and if not Iv learnt my lesson Confused

seizethecuttlefish · 29/07/2020 19:14

@Carrotgirl87 things are that quiet with me at the moment, I'm considering going back to Neevo.

Are people getting paid by Neevo these days?

Carrotgirl87 · 29/07/2020 19:15

It's so tempting because the tasks are so quick, but Iv read so many horror stories about not getting paid 🙈

Horehound · 29/07/2020 19:16

Well if you see my earlier posts from this morning I'm saying I have been paid for some but not others.
Apparently I will be but who knows when. Just get a stock answer when you ask.

@bubbles519 I've done like 10. It's very small change in not sure I can be bothered.

Horehound · 29/07/2020 19:19

On the guidelines there's a bit for audio examples but they haven't put any in!

morriseysquif · 29/07/2020 19:36

I am with Nielsen and have never received a penny.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 29/07/2020 19:48

@morriseysquif Nielsen gives you points to buy 'gifts' not money?

morriseysquif · 29/07/2020 19:52
@morriseysquif Nielsen gives you points to buy 'gifts' not money?
Oh thanks! Or any points, where would I look? I only remembered I had it from this thread!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 29/07/2020 20:00

www.therewardscatalogue.com/Home/Index (you'll need to remember your log in details methinks)

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 29/07/2020 20:06

The best thing to do is try to forget about it for a couple of years. A few years ago I redeemed about £250 worth of stuff at Christmas. It's not a big earner but it's easier than doing some of the poorly paid 'pittance' jobs that are time-consuming too.

Sonmi451 · 29/07/2020 20:20

Thank you for replying, @Buster27 and @seizethecuttlefish, I'm now caught up on the thread.

@torquewench asked about the audio quiz for Way With Words, a day or two ago - I passed on my third attempt. I scored 60% on my first two attempts, but double checked the spelling of a word which had cropped up quite a few times, and it turned out I had been spelling it wrong. On my third attempt I corrected that, and also realised that on one of the clips, I'd missed out a word right at the start of the clip - it was barely there, I think it might have been "n" meaning "and". I scored 80% on that attempt, so I passed. You have to be so careful to catch every little thing!

Going to have a look at some of the other links now.

DownThePlath · 29/07/2020 21:01

@GalaxyGirl24
Awaiting review is normal; they normally take a few days or so to approve your work and then the money goes in. I've got 6 waiting to be approved at the minute! Regarding tax, it doesn't really matter if your earnings are below £1000, but anymore than that, you have to declare.

I've only been doing this exactly 20 days today, and Neevo has paid me twice! So not too shabby from them.

GalaxyGirl24 · 29/07/2020 21:09

@DownThePlath thank you so much for clarifying that! Had a major moment of panic that I'd be doing self assessment forms for the sake of £1.45 😂 I'm assuming you mean £1000 just from this and not £1000 in general including my normal work?

DownThePlath · 29/07/2020 22:37

@GalaxyGirl24
Sorry yes - I did mean £1000 earned from this sort of work. Please don't take this as 100% gospel though as I am new myself and have just repeated what i've read Grin It's always best to declare a second source of income if you're already employed though, so you may want to register as self-employed if you think you could potentially earn a fair bit. Hopefully some of the wiser mumsnetters will point out if i'm mistaken here.

Buster27 · 29/07/2020 22:57

Al* and F* completed on Appen tonight. Got a transcription project to be cracking on with too so will hopefully take a look at it tomorrow.

WonderTweek · 29/07/2020 23:34

I finally qualified on Appen and I'm actually really excited. GrinI managed to complete F** and I'm hoping to get more tasks soon. I can't believe July is almost over! I feel like things have actually started moving a little bit for me in the last couple of weeks and I'm quite into this click work now. I've probably jinxed it now and the work will dry up. Haha. Look forward to the new thread soon!

Sonmi451 · 29/07/2020 23:55

Submitted my offline assessment for Way With Words - a proofreading element and a transcription element. I don't know how long they'll take to mark it, but I'll update as & when.

Baby89 · 30/07/2020 03:36

@WonderTweek that’s great news- can I ask after how long did you get accepted

Wolfff · 30/07/2020 07:02

@Downthepath

Yes you need to register for Self Employment once your earnings are or are about to reach £1000. This applies if you are employed as well.

GalaxyGirl24 · 30/07/2020 07:14

Thanks @Wolfff and @DownThePlath much appreciated! I will look into self assessment!
