That should cover most of what was discussed in the last thread! I'm just realising I've forgotten transcription sites so I'll add those on now.

Thank you @simplybue I'll have a look at rev. Very helpful information 😊

My favourite retailers now pay for my mobile bill, join @airtimerewards and get free credit using my code HAUWY7PC airtimerewards.app.link/friend

Super easy to do, just link your card and they track your transactions automatically. Really easy way to pay your phone bill. Use my code for a 50p bonus and £1 if you spend within a week :)

justtheonethen · 07/02/2020 15:46

@Sallycinnamum don't despair- it takes a few days to get added to the tool for Nile!

MoreMoneyPlease · 07/02/2020 15:50

@Tohaveandtohold Congratulations, that's excellent news!

Think I just won £10 on a free slots game on Paddy Power which was a bonus because I had no idea what I was doing except watching the credit amount like a hawk to make sure I didn't spend any actual money!

SimplyBlue · 07/02/2020 16:35

@Catatemyhomework

Yeah I think if I worked out the amount of time I spent and what I had earned per hour, it wouldn't be the best rate, but I just think, well I have the time, it's all money that I don't have and I find it far more interesting than surveys etc! If I had some success with appen that might work out better per hour, but have had no work with them so far

One thing I have noticed as well is that some of the ones I've done that had been unclaimed quite a few times previously, featured an accent - Australian, Indian and British so far. I imagine the vast majority of people who work for Rev are from the US and I wonder if they're generally less familiar with other accents than we are in the UK so find it trickier (I'm just assuming that you're from the UK, so forgive me if I'm wrong).

SimplyBlue · 07/02/2020 16:38

Btw @otterses I remember you had glandular fever or something similar? I had that once and took me about a year to recover so I hope you're doing ok!

DontCallMeDarling · 07/02/2020 16:42

@MoreMoneyPlease well done on the slots. My first trigger bet is happening tonight. I am amazed at how nervous MB makes me!

otterses · 07/02/2020 16:53

@Tohaveandtohold

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Congratulations! That's amazing news Grin !!!

@DontCallMeDarling As long as you actually place your lay bet (which I somehow didn't do the other night HmmAngryBlush) you'll be fine! I've got quite a few bets on a match tonight too Smile

DontCallMeDarling · 07/02/2020 17:52

@MoreMoneyPlease hope it goes according to plan for both of us Grin

YasssKween · 07/02/2020 18:32

Just posted in a new thread as I didn't see this one existed so sorry for doubling up, but any advice would be AMAZING!

Thrilled to be on quite a fun task for Appen but getting stressed about Payoneer account.

ID is not a problem as I have a passport. However they're asking for business details in order to verify my account, including:

  • website / domain or business profile on marketplace or social media platform
  • what is your connection to the website provided

Has anyone done this when they set up Payoneer in order to receive payments from Appen only?

Do I put links to my Appen profile (even though they are private I think)?

Or have I accidentally set up a business account when there is a separate one for sole traders / individuals?

Really need some luck so would appreciate some help so much!

SimplyBlue · 07/02/2020 20:15

I haven't ever done any work for Appen @YasssKween but I did set up a Payoneer account with them a while ago and I don't remember having to fill in that kind of stuff... Could be my memory being bad, but I don't have a business account or website etc so I wouldn't have been able to fill those bits in. I think maybe you have selected the wrong type of account.

StudentHelp · 07/02/2020 20:36

@Tohaveandtohold
Congrats!!! Flowers Wine

Catatemyhomework · 07/02/2020 20:48

@SimplyBlue, yes you may have a point re the majority of people who work for Rev being from US. No worries BTW, I am British! Grin
Congratulations @Tohaveandtohold!
I have been busy all day trying to find bugs on paid cycles for UTest. Have submitted a couple but we'll see. It takes so many hours of my time but I hope I am learning along the way! Happy Friday everyone! Wine

Lougle · 07/02/2020 20:50

@Catatemyhomework - I'm sure you're learning! I'm plugging away too. I'm finding rejections hard and double checking myself before I submit a little too much now, but I'm glad to say that I've tripled my January earnings so far, so it's going well for the second month (and first full month).

girlicorne · 07/02/2020 20:51

@YasssKween I had this a couple of months ago I think I just left them blank though as I don’t have a business website etc. There were loads of us on here who had to do it so hopefully someone who can remember will be along soon!

girlicorne · 07/02/2020 20:54

Those doing u test what do you think the potential hourly rate is once you are up to speed?

Lougle · 07/02/2020 21:01

@girlicorne hard to say, tbh. Without some effort it will get you nowhere. Some tests are very 'easy' to set up, but the real money comes when you find a high quality issue. Some tests are quite tricky to set up (I had one last night that I had to say 'let it go' because I couldn't get the tech working), but they give a higher rate for simply doing the task.

For some people, UTest is their full time job and they earn very well. You're more likely to get a lot of work if you're open to doing any task and if you have the right devices. Android, iOS, etc.

Catatemyhomework · 07/02/2020 21:05

@Lougle, you do so well with UTest. I am still so slow. I have submitted two bugs today but have no idea if they'll be approved. I have been asked for extra information which I have provided. It's still so confusing. Charles Proxy seems logical enough, but the reality is anything but! I have spent the entire afternoon and most of this evening screen shotting, and doing videos and hoping to replicate my results and then something different happens again! Ah well, I do enjoy it a little I think! Grin
@girlicorne, I have no idea! I am not up to speed. You could earn anything from £10 a day I guess if you find and submit 2 or 3 bug reports that haven't already been done. I'm sure some people are brilliant. I don't think I'm one of those people!

girlicorne · 07/02/2020 21:11

Thank you @Lougle @Catatemyhomework just trying to weigh up if it’s worth giving it a go. I don’t mind putting the effort in to learn but I don’t want to work for £2 an hour long term 😀

Catatemyhomework · 07/02/2020 21:19

@girlicorne, I think there is money to be made, particularly if you have the time to put in and are ready to grab a test cycle as soon as it's offered. I spend ages wondering if I have the right tech and if I have the time, then someone else comes in and takes it and then you see on chat that they're using the wrong spec or something and you think I could have done that. It's like a lot of things in life I think. Some people are good at blagging and they have confidence. I always think that I'm not good enough. Not helpful I know, but give it a try. You've got nothing to lose!

girlicorne · 07/02/2020 21:24

Thank you @Catatemyhomework I might have an explore over the weekend it does sound interesting!

Lougle · 07/02/2020 22:02

Oh I have no idea what I'm doing in many ways Grin - we should perhaps start a thread for the more technical aspects of bug capture (without breaching any Ts & Cs, just stuff like logs, video, screen shots, links to good articles, etc.)?

Catatemyhomework · 07/02/2020 22:11

Sounds like a great idea @Lougle. Not sure how valuable my contributions may be but we could learn. I always find that I can spend many hours on it without realising how long I've been doing it. I started when I'd picked up the kids from school and then the next thing I remember was them asking what time we were eating and it was 7.30!

SNISR · 07/02/2020 22:20

This is probably the dumbest question so far, but I don't know how to sign up to Lionbridge 😬 there's no option on the website. Can someone kindly point me in the right direction please.
