Let's top up our bank balances for Christmas! It's the October earn £10 a day thread

Saw a few newcomers place marking on the previous thread, so a big welcome to them Smile

Christmas is just around the corner, and I'm sure we all could do with the extra earnings to pay for Christmas and keep us out of the January slump.

I'll copy and paste the first post of the previous thread as soon as I'm at a computer.

Has anyone got any targets in mind? I'm aiming for £20 a day, then hopefully £200 or so of 'extras'.

@margaritasbythesea

Haha.. I heard back immediately, saying they are reviewing it or something and will let us know.. Is that the email that you received??

margaritasbythesea · 03/10/2019 20:16

Sorry my post sounded a bit if a boast. I didn't mean it that way. I got accepted but it's probably because I have a degree in the relevant area.

AriellaBella · 03/10/2019 20:17

Place marking.

Made about £40 last month. Hoping for anything better this month!

Frenchdoors1 · 03/10/2019 20:43

@margaritasbythesea

Noooooo I was laughing at 'niflewhatsit'. You didn't come across like that at allSmile

tinatsarina · 03/10/2019 20:51

Hi everyone. Newcomer here. Can anyone help with a list of sites to try like appen. Are survey sites any good?

Interested in this! Place marking Smile

margaritasbythesea · 03/10/2019 21:33

Don't worry FrenchDoors I was objecting to myself, not you!

Otterses · 03/10/2019 21:34

@tinatsarina

The list posted on the last post of the previous thread is fantastic with recommended sites on it, it's linked to upthread in the first few posts.

I'm not a huge fan of surveys personally, I think it depends hugely on if you're the 'right' demographic. Some people get dozens of well paying ones, others get very few for peanuts. I think there's more reliable income streams out there rather than depending on surveys Smile

Hi all I am also new to the thread.

Can anyone tell me what the micro tasks are on appen? And how do they pay you?

I am totally new to it all. Smile

Frenchdoors1 · 03/10/2019 21:54

@margaritasbythesea
I will watch my wording next time though Smile

Frenchdoors1 · 03/10/2019 22:42

@Nutellalovesme

If you Google "appen micro tasks" and scroll down (the pic I've added is the page you should see) you should click on that part then. You don't get paid though for those, I did one on there a while ago where I had to listen to someone saying a sentence and had to type in the box what they were saying. It's kinda like an idea of what you would be doing on appen itself.

Downloaded the clickworker app so I'll see if I can get anything done on my day off

rhij86 · 04/10/2019 07:43

@frenchdoors1 is that different to the normal appen site?

Frenchdoors1 · 04/10/2019 07:50

@rhij86

Hi.
Yes it's not the actual appen site that people were talking about yesterday, (the nifflewaffle oneSmile) It is small task's this one.

TheCanterburyWhales · 04/10/2019 08:00

I don't bother with other survey sites apart from Prolific. Too time wasting and you end up on the dodgy click throughs that have catalogues and what have you thrown at you. Mind you, Prolific is dead at the moment. Initially I was clearing at least a tenner a week, if not more, and now it's threepence ha'penny for 15 minutes of tickboxing. Nah.
I'm on Respondent but apart from one that they approached me for because I'm an English teacher (and which I couldn't do because I was teaching English at the time haha) I haven't had anything.

Thanks to a lovely threadster PMing me I am back on Clickworker having resolved my "multiple accounts" problem.

tinatsarina · 04/10/2019 08:06

I have no projects on appen at the moment but there are those tests. Should I be doing them and does that make it more likely to get other projects?

rhij86 · 04/10/2019 08:07

@Frenchdoors1 thanks I've just signed up to that one too. Do you get much on there?

Wolfff · 04/10/2019 08:12

Please correct me if I am wrong, but isn't micro tasks the same as Appen Global? I thought that was being absorbed into the main Appen Connect site? I am sure I saw a message to that effect not long ago and I was paid for a job I did on Global last month via my Appen Connect invoice.

SNISR · 04/10/2019 08:12

Anyone on the innari-C project on Appen, have you received an email saying they're changing the task and now you'll be rating Instagram stories instead? Same pay and length etc.

Frenchdoors1 · 04/10/2019 08:15

Ahh, for the appen micro tasks.. I'm pretty sure it says on there that you don't get paid,and it doesn't get you more work if you do them, think it's like practising what you'll be doing on the actual appen site. There is a longish list of tasks, it will say different languages, I presume it means if you can speak other languages then you can do those ones.

Frenchdoors1 · 04/10/2019 08:20

@Wolfff

I am not 100% sure about your query but when I googled appen global and Appen connect separately, I'm sure it said they are the same thing now.
I have been confused with all that too.
How I personally see it is that it is all one company, not 2 separate companies, if that makes sense.
Although I could be wrong, but if any of you can Google these 2 separate appen then you should be able to see what I mean.

Wolfff · 04/10/2019 08:25

I think Global was another company that was take over by Appen but kept the existing site for a while.

Frenchdoors1 · 04/10/2019 09:10

@Wolfff*
Yes, your right. That's what I read too. But is was too early in the morning for me to get my brain working... Grin

tweedledeedo · 04/10/2019 09:20

Can't pass the crisp test! I've got 16 and then 18! Annoying
