Let's top up our bank balances for Christmas! It's the October earn £10 a day thread

Otterses · 01/10/2019 06:57

Saw a few newcomers place marking on the previous thread, so a big welcome to them Smile

Christmas is just around the corner, and I'm sure we all could do with the extra earnings to pay for Christmas and keep us out of the January slump.

I'll copy and paste the first post of the previous thread as soon as I'm at a computer.

Has anyone got any targets in mind? I'm aiming for £20 a day, then hopefully £200 or so of 'extras'.

I just had an email from appen saying that because I didn't complete the Project Peppermint quiz that I'll be removed from the project as it's now full - however I did complete the quiz! 😔 has this happened to anyone else? I've responded but I don't have much hope.... really could've done with the extra £.

Elmosonfire · 19/10/2019 10:00

On Crisp, do the shifts pay quite a lot more than the normal stuff? I am just getting to grips with doing it and was wondering about earning potential going forwards.

Elmosonfire · 19/10/2019 10:01

I meant I’ve just started with Crisp, not just started with the shifts, just to clarify!

donttellmetwice · 19/10/2019 10:15

Can someone explain this thread to me please? How are you making money? I've read through some of the thread, what are crisp and appen?
Is there somewhere I should look to read about this?
Currently on maternity leave so every little helps!

justtheonethen · 19/10/2019 11:10

@Elmosonfire no they don't, with decent queues and it running well I can earn slightly more , with a surge I can make more. However it's guaranteed money (especially during quiet times of the day) and that for me is a winner .

@donttellmetwice google 'crisp thinking' and 'appen connect'

@girlicorne totally agree. It's really not on Angry

justtheonethen · 19/10/2019 11:11

With a surge I can make much more even

donttellmetwice · 19/10/2019 11:18

@justtheonethen makes sense to start there I guess Grin

Elmosonfire · 19/10/2019 11:19

@justtheonethen thanks so much for the information, really appreciate it! I am going so slow at the moment, I am starting to lose the faith a bit! I want by next year to be earning at least £800 a month from it and at the moment that feels wildly ambitious at the rate I’m going! Are the queues often slow then? I mainly will be working during the daytime.

justtheonethen · 19/10/2019 11:36

@Elmosonfire I find it easiest to make money in the early morning and evening. It's often slow in the day which is when the shifts are brilliant.

@donttellmetwice sorry if that sounded short, wasn't meant to! Appen has lots of projects that are all different and we have signed NDAs so cant really talk about them, crisp is risk analysis for social media. Appen is short term projects (although some run for months) and crisp is long term.

donttellmetwice · 19/10/2019 11:39

@justtheonethen no not at all lol! It was a perfectly sensible suggestion 😁

Fizbo · 19/10/2019 12:11

@BlackCatFan did they email you to tell you that you passed the quiz?

Elmosonfire · 19/10/2019 12:14

@justtheonethen ah I see, that makes sense. Thanks for the advice

BlackCatFan · 19/10/2019 12:18

@Fizbo no, I didn't get an email confirmation to say I'd completed it.. maybe I should have taken a screen shot of the confirmation at the end of the quiz. On the whole im pretty unimpressed with appen, this was the first project I'd been accepted for and I've applied for loads.

Fizbo · 19/10/2019 12:21

@BlackCatFan that's awful I'm sorry to hear that. I got an email a few days after taking it, but there was a deadline mentioned for taking the quiz so I wonder if they just took the earliest applicants? This unfortunately is the nature of all this work, it's good whilst it lasts but really can't be relied on. I hope you get something else soon

justtheonethen · 19/10/2019 12:33

Anyone on Nile know if they actually know how long you spend on the task?

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 19/10/2019 13:25

@donttellmetwice - my quick review of Appen.

Any resellers on here? Been shifting a few bits on depop. Trying to crack eBay

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 19/10/2019 15:48

Has anyone else come across Football Index?
I just joined yesterday and it looks like fun although it is gambling so not without it's risks.
If you join up and wager £10 we both get £10 bonus.

Buster27 · 19/10/2019 16:17

Eeee got my first dick pic on Crisp (on my second ever go in live)!

@Elmosonfire - I'm even slower since going on live Blush Just did an hour for £2.70. That's actually an improvement though, my first go (yesterday) I did half an hour for 85p.. I did spend most of the time consulting wiki though to be fair Grin.

justtheonethen · 19/10/2019 16:28

@Buster27 that's unlucky! You will get quicker. I was very quickly getting £10 an hour so it is worth it. You will know it inside out soon!

Buster27 · 19/10/2019 16:46

@justtheonethen it was quite blurry at least! That's good to know, yourself and some others have posted some really good figures in previous posts so I figured it's worth sticking with.

Fanniee · 19/10/2019 17:19

I'm on Crisp and think it's really hard to get to £10 an hour.

When content is low I'm not sure how you'd get that much. You also need to maintain a really high accuracy rate. (I did read 1 item wrong in 4000 when I did my training. ) So it can be a bit of a slog to make the money.

I enjoy it though and it's great when DD is napping.

justtheonethen · 19/10/2019 17:31

@Fanniee yep the queues have to be decent otherwise it's impossible- if I really go for it I can make £15 in an hour with full queues and the tool running well. I think you get quicker on it all the time and it becomes easier to make the money. Helps if you read quick/can remember the tool tips drop down bits so you don't waste time looking for a classification. I don't find it a slog at all.
Yes it's 1 in 4000 that is allowed as the error rate which is terrifying!

justtheonethen · 19/10/2019 17:31

And agree- if content low it's impossible- I just get up early when it's always busy!

ChubRubTub · 20/10/2019 07:55

I've just worked through my Versal Crisp training and am feeling a bit down. I'm worried I'm going to mess it up as I find some of the guidelines unclear/ambiguous.

Does anyone have any tips for the 1 hour test (I've seen people say make a note of what time you start / how many you've done). Anything else?

I don't get why they have things classified differently. For example, they list out the risks in one way in the initial slides, then there is a different order/list further on in the presentation (when you have to drop the cards) and different again in the Versal individual training areas. Is it clearer when you get going?

Also, when I was looking at the info on the tools, it mentions 'noise. I don't remember learning about that - what is it?

Those accuracy figures are scary. Do they expect this from the start? Has anyone been kicked off Crisp for poor performance?

Thanks! I really need Crisp, so am feeling pretty anxious about it - as you can tell 😁
