Hello veterans and newbies Grin can't believe we're still going a quarter of the way through the year!

I don't know about everyone else, but I've been crap at tracking properly. Obviously I've got invoices to go off, but I'm going to try to be better this month.

Good start this morning! £28 (£18 less my £10 deposit) on a virgin bonanza box, £8 cashback on the virgin deal too. £10.61 Appen work already done today. I most likely won't do any Crisp today, as I've got an essay due Friday I need to crack on with.

£36.31 so far this month.

How's everyone else ticking along?

Let me know how you find Rattle @Otterses, I've asked for an extension but I'm not hopeful! Good luck :)

LittleAndOften · 23/05/2019 14:18

Hello all, may I join your thread please? I've been lurking for a few days and I'm impressed how dedicated you all are!

My story is that I was a teacher for 15 years, then had DS and became a SAHM. DH works full time. DS is now 3 and has his 15 hrs a week free daycare. I've started to do some bits and pieces of work, I do some private tutoring, but due to childcare restrictions and limited hours after school that I can tutor (ie 3.30-7.30pm), I don't get much from it. I've done a few copywriting jobs (freelance), but I have no money to market myself. I will be marking GCSE papers in July.

I am now 16 weeks pregnant with DS2, and the harsh reality is that we are in debt up to our eyeballs. I'm a big Dave Ramsey fan and have followed his babysteps previously, but fell off the wagon. I'm back on it now, but really need to start earning to throw some cash at the problem.

So I've started selling some bits and have apps like Shoppix etc. I had a go at the Crisp Thinking tests this afternoon and could not get above 18. So frustrating! I would really appreciate any tips. I can't see where I'm going wrong!

Thanks all, looking forward to hearing about your journeys.

PollyShelby · 23/05/2019 14:34

Try again on crisp, select more than one answer for some of them. Good luck.

Otterses · 23/05/2019 14:34

Welcome @LittleAndOften and congratulations on your pregnancy. I wish I'd tried this when I was pregnant, it would have given us a great cushion financially.

WRT Crisp, keep at it. But lots of people have been accepted with scores of 18.

Have you applied with LionBridge or Leapforce(Appen) yet? They offer a similar level of flexibility to Crisp.

Do you enjoy teaching? There's a huge surge in tutoring websites for students in China and other countries. The pay is quite crap compared to actual teaching, but it's something.

Are you any good at making resources? I saw a fab website that teachers can upload work sheets, etc. And get paid when another teacher downloads them to use. It wasn't mega bucks, but it would be good passive earning, especially if you're using stuff you've made for tutoring! I'll try to find the site for you.

@MrsKappa I'll give it a crack. If I get Rattle, I'm hiring a cleaner once a month as a treat. Trying to incentivise myself.

@fishandchops Still on track for the washing machine?

Thanks @PollyShelby and @otterses I've tried 3 times now I need a break! Thanks for the congratulations, I had 3 m/cs after DS so it's been a long time coming.

Lots of great ideas above. I'm actually registered with Appen and receive their emails but I've never actually done an assignment! I should look into it again. I have explored online tuition before but was put off by the poor pay. I will revisit this.

As for resources, I've been meaning to set up my own TES resources shop for a while now, just haven't got round to it. Although I'm toying with the idea of setting up a specialist GCSE site with downloadable revision guides and resources, I'm just a bit reluctant due to the costs of online marketing.

A good kick up the arse is what I need! Grin

@LittleAndOften

Posted too early 😂 but I like how dramatic that was,

Do not do those horrific voice tasks.

Sign up here, long story short, there's two Appens, one is a bit meh the other is excellent Grin this is more long term project work like rating ads on social media.

Hi @LittleAndOften - I joined this group in February and this has quite literally changed my life and outlook on work! I would say look at everything everyone suggests and see what works for you and your family. I am on Appen (thanks to these threads) and now earn an extra £250 a month from it which makes all the difference to us. I can't pass crisp but if I could that would be a bonus and pay for some treats as well so I am going to keep trying Grin
Ooh a cleaner in exchange for Rattle - great idea for incentives, @Otterses!

MrsGaryLightbody · 23/05/2019 15:05

Hey can I join? Smile
Am suddenly single yay and omg at same time .
The only thing is I don't have social media.. none at all . Will that hinder me ?
What would you recommend, bearing in mind my brain is fuddled Wink

Otterses · 23/05/2019 15:27

@MrsGaryLightbody of course Grin everyone is welcome.

No social media will hold you back from two projects if you apply and are accepted by Appen - Nile and Truckee which require you to have accounts on Facebook and Instagram.

How much do you need to earn per month? Do you need to work around children, work, etc.?

I recommend Crisp Thinking full stop for all circumstances, it's incredibly flexible, and well paid for something you can do from home ad hoc. It's moderation work.

LittleAndOften · 23/05/2019 15:28

Ooh great tip about Appen, I'll definitely get on that one.

Has anyone else seen this job ad? jobs.mumsnet.com/job/1896583/home-based-website-testers-no-experience-required/

In other news, I just dispatched £27 worth of books to We Buy Books. Hurray!

£10 bonus for a £10 deposit with Heart Bingo today ... tempted ... can anyone remember if they use the bonus before cash balance? I seem to recall that the bonus is used first Confused

Hi,
I'm a bit worried about doing an invoice for Crisp. Did everyone else use paypal and use the guide on Wiki? Also guessing that if I want to get paid on the 10th, I need to raise my invoice by the end of the month.

reddA · 23/05/2019 18:21

@Octopus37 you need to wait until you get a statement from Crisp which is usually around the 10th, then you invoice them - we can help when it's time

Otterses · 23/05/2019 18:23

@Octopus37 PayPal is a lot easier, and gets authorised quickly. Usually within a day! Then you can just duplicate the invoice on PayPal and amend the money on it each month.

You should receive your statement by the 10th. You then check it and send your invoice and you get paid as soon as it's approved Smile have you been sent a statement yet?

OP posts:
Otterses · 23/05/2019 18:23

@reddA how are you getting on with your axies?

OP posts:
reddA · 23/05/2019 18:24

@Otterses I got 35% on Rattle - 3.5 hours to do 100 Blush I just couldn't get used to the locations as it's the US (that's my excuse anyway Grin)

0htooooodles · 23/05/2019 18:27

Does crisp charge you through paypal when receiving money?

reddA · 23/05/2019 18:28

My Axies are battling twice a day and slowly building their EXP, I have two that can breed but I don't know whether to pimp them out or breed them for another 2 eggs. Did you see they have land on the marketplace now? Still expensive though :( How are your guys doing?

Frenchdoors1 · 23/05/2019 20:02

Hi.which Appen do I do? I've read on here that there are 2 I don't want to do the difficult one.
Do I need to send ID? Don't drive and passport has expired. Thanks in advance.

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 23/05/2019 20:12

Nothing from Appen as yet

Any other good earners as I'm hoping to drop some hours at work and would like to pick up some work from home to save on nursery fees

fishandchops · 23/05/2019 20:29

@Otterses I am at the £260 mark now with both appen and crisp so I think I'll make my target. Not done much today though, no motivation at all. Did a couple of surveys on prolific so that another £5 too yeah it all adds up.

Otterses · 23/05/2019 21:31

I'm HOPING .,. The early hours of tomorrow should be better for crisp as results come in for elections Grin so I'm going to get up at four. It's so quiet at the moment, struggling to hit £6 an hour due to lack of content.

DH has looked at me like I've sprouted a second head. Ah well. We'll see what the wee hours of tomorrow bring Grin

Is anyone still comping? I still haven't won a sausage Envy

OP posts:
Otterses · 23/05/2019 21:33

@Frenchdoors1 erm, there's a good 50 active projects, and all have hard elements to them. You get no control over what you are given to apply for, or what you're accepted into I'm afraid - so it's not quite that easy to opt for something 'easy'! You'd need to apply via the link I posted a earlier and see what projects are available to you.
