Hello veterans and newbies Grin can't believe we're still going a quarter of the way through the year!

I don't know about everyone else, but I've been crap at tracking properly. Obviously I've got invoices to go off, but I'm going to try to be better this month.

Good start this morning! £28 (£18 less my £10 deposit) on a virgin bonanza box, £8 cashback on the virgin deal too. £10.61 Appen work already done today. I most likely won't do any Crisp today, as I've got an essay due Friday I need to crack on with.

£36.31 so far this month.

How's everyone else ticking along?

Just checking in

3luckystars · 01/05/2019 21:42

I haven't an iota what you are all talking about, can some one explain to a complete idiot like me? I am interested but it's like you are speaking another language.

Otterses · 01/05/2019 22:09

After seeing there's a surge in Mod 2 of 2.0 ... I'm officially a liar about not doing any crisp today Grin

@3luckystars
Essentially it's different ways of earning some extra money, so a lot of the random words are online sites which you can sign up to, either to do work such as online moderation or surveys etc.

I've signed up to Crisp, which is Crisp Thinking, an online moderation company. You sit various assessments to see if you're capable and then can log on when you chose to to do moderation work for them, essentially checking online content for any issues.

I've no idea how any of the other sites work, have a look at the April and March earn £10 a day threads and there are some further explanations on them Smile

3luckystars · 02/05/2019 08:39

Thank you so much. I will look them up now.

mydogisthebest · 02/05/2019 08:46

I have reapplied for Appen so fingers crossed I am accepted this time. Took them 2 months to get back to me last time so no reason to think they will be any quicker this time.

I am plodding along with matched betting. I made £20 with it yesterday, £20 on Virgin bingo, £6 with Qmee surveys and won £5 on Buzz bingo.

Babyiwantabump · 02/05/2019 12:14

I passed the crisp test! Yeay!

Babyiwantabump · 02/05/2019 12:33

So when do I need to set up as self employed? Do I do it now or do I do it next year when submitting my first tax return?

MadeForThis · 02/05/2019 13:11

How long does everyone spend on Crisp per day/week?

justtheonethen · 02/05/2019 13:33

@pineapplepatty do you have all your log ins for crisp now? I am still waiting for the actual log in!

TheCanterburyWhales · 02/05/2019 13:46

I've got 9 Appens "in progress" now.
Lionbridge have sent me the next stage docs for something I can't remember applying for in Feb!

Fannyfanakerpants · 02/05/2019 13:56

I've just had my email to accept me to Crisp. I'm a bit nervous already as I have no experience in anything like this.

I also made £400 last month matched betting and it was a busy months so I was very half hearted with it. Anyone that's not sure, there really is nothing to loose and it's easy.

Babyiwantabump · 02/05/2019 14:34

@thecanterburywhales apparently you can’t work for both Appen and lionbridge but I’ve also had some docs from lionbridge and am quite tempted to switch to them as seem to be stuck at the in progress stage with Appen with no actual project to work on!

TheCanterburyWhales · 02/05/2019 14:38

Yes, that's what I thought. I started most of the Appen processes in Jan/Feb and have heard nothing so...

fishandchops · 02/05/2019 16:43

I have passed the next stage on crisp and am getting log ins for various applications which is very confusing at the moment but I'm getting there. Still not received my actual crisp log in yet though.

How much time do you generally spend on crisp and how much can I expect to earn for day an hours work per day?

pineapplepatty · 02/05/2019 16:46

@justtheonethen I'm not sure if I've had it or not. I don't think so but I keep getting notifications that I've been mentioned in something called slack 😲

lannister · 02/05/2019 18:49

Finally did my calculations. Did not reach anywhere near my target last month, so am getting serious now. Waiting to buy a laptop so I can join Appen. Earnt a little sum with ohmydosh, if anyone is looking for a referral link where we can both earn some cash, mine is: https://ohmydosh.co.uk/validate/referaa_friend/welcome/250619?keyword=referred&epi=OMD-CO-218-250619-19535631-2917234

BlockRockinBeats · 02/05/2019 20:36

Hello everyone!

Thrilled to see a new thread and all the familiar names from February plus some newbies...welcome!

I passed the Crisp assessment and have been sent all my logins for Slack, Mod2, Alsassion, the dashboard etc. I have successfully logged in and have set all my passwords up. Now what do I do???

In the Alsassion / Wiki website, I have found some lengthy guidance notes for new assessors. I take it I read through all these before I can do any work? Is that what all you other Crispers did? I just feel that I have been sent a load of emails to the different sites but no info on what to actually do next. I sort of stumbled upon the guidance notes in the Wiki. There seems to be a hell of a lot of stuff to read through and it all looks so complicated!

Starting to panic as you other Crispers just seemed to get up and running straight away. Am I missing something or did you too just wade through all the bumf and stumble your way through?

Help please Crispers! Thank you. My head is mashed!

BlockRockinBeats · 02/05/2019 20:39

PS last month, I joined a number of Bingo sites using cashback offers via Quidco. I had never done online bingo before so I had put off doing this. Well, I am glad I did! As well as the cashback earnings, I also had a few wins on bingo and the spins. Made a profit so my plan for this month is to join some more bingo sited for cashback and see how I get on.

I am still match betting but have really slowed down due to the sign up offers drying up. I am yet to do the big Bet365 £100 offer so that it is on the cards for May. Woohoo!

pineapplepatty · 02/05/2019 21:11

@BlockRockinBeats I feel exactly the same. I have been sent logins and I've logged in but no idea what to do. I keep getting slack notifications that I'm being mentioned

margaritasbythesea · 03/05/2019 07:28

Lannister - I don't know others have found, but I have had a lot of technical difficulties working for Appen on a laptop. It's fine on my phone or my desktop but in my laptop I kept losing work.

Are lots of the Appen projects just on phones, or is that just Nile?

reddA · 03/05/2019 09:56

@BlockRockinBeats @pineapplepatty with Crisp I have the console open with the content you need to work on (start with Mod2), then Slack open in another window (I stopped the notifications to my email) so that you can see if there are any issues or surges, keep an eye on the left hand side as this is where you will get any messages from the team if you have made any mistakes. Most of the time slack is just people signing in/out of jobs that are not relevant to us newbies.

I also have a window with the dashboard which shows (very) roughly how much I have done for the day and also the queues for work in each area. I have another window with the urban dictionary for slang terms or text speak I am unsure of.

Just start slow and work through the pages, click unsure if you are not sure, you will feel like you have spent hours for very little money at first but you soon get used to it and build up speed. I don't tend to use the wiki too much now but I can always refer to it if I need to.

Any other tips peeps?

Good luck x

Otterses · 03/05/2019 10:08

@reddA Slack does my tits in 😂 it's constant.

I think you've covered everything! In the early days, when you're still quite slow, I'd say it's important to keep a close eye on surges and try to work then.

How did everyone do out of the 2.0 mod2 yesterday?

£66 Grin !

@Otteres that's fantastic! I didn't work yesterday, I was busy :( 1.7 at the moment I think, better get my arse into gear!

OnlyBejoking · 03/05/2019 10:31

@blockrockinbeats @pineapplepatty I've just passed the Crisp test too do I'll be joining you figuring it all out!
