Hello veterans and newbies Grin can't believe we're still going a quarter of the way through the year!

I don't know about everyone else, but I've been crap at tracking properly. Obviously I've got invoices to go off, but I'm going to try to be better this month.

Good start this morning! £28 (£18 less my £10 deposit) on a virgin bonanza box, £8 cashback on the virgin deal too. £10.61 Appen work already done today. I most likely won't do any Crisp today, as I've got an essay due Friday I need to crack on with.

£36.31 so far this month.

How's everyone else ticking along?

Hope it helps a lot of you out!

Thanks all, what a great thread :-)
I wondered if anyone has completed the Appen speech collection with your dc? It says an hour but I can't face it don't want to start it with ds if it will take longer than that.

Otterses · 20/05/2019 18:39

@WheresTheCoffee if it says it'll take an hour, it'll take four I'm really not a fan of these, the interface is an absolute bastard to use for any length of time. I think someone here complete it successfully though!

@shabbadooof Grin thanks Jon, it's a great post, I'm sure it'll help lots of us on our way!

Thanks @Otterses, I'll give that a miss I think. I'd rather spend the time on Crisp! This thread has really helped me recently Flowers

Suddenlychasingrainbows · 20/05/2019 21:40

Ive taken crisp 3 times and got 18 each time 😬😬
Can I just keep retaking it?!

Suddenlychasingrainbows · 20/05/2019 22:32

Yay, 4th time lucky!
Hope they don’t discount me cos it took me four goes Grin
Did it again and didn’t think about it as deeply, did it on gut instinct instead of taking ages and second guessing myself!

PineapplePatty · 20/05/2019 22:33

Well done, the actual work is easier than that I think, now I'm getting used to it.

ChubRubTub · 21/05/2019 04:50

@Otterses thanks for posting the article, it's really useful. Has anyone tried answering text messages, it looks like it could be good money.

For anyone else doing the Crisp test. Keep trying! I finally got 20/20 on the fourth go. (15,16,16 before that).

lannister · 21/05/2019 07:03

Couldn't do the appen speech one it required 12gb of free storage on my phoneShock

mydogisthebest · 21/05/2019 08:52

Got an email from Appen this morning saying I have been accepted. Just have to pass the screening which, hopefully, I can do.

So do I stick with Appen? Is it ok work and does it pay ok? Should I try the Crisp test again?

Even though I don't work I am struggling to fit everything in so not sure if I could work for Crisp and Appen. I am already doing matched betting which still takes a time as I am still pretty new to it. I do quite a few surveys every day. I do some Mechanical Turk tasks too.

On top of that I do DH's accounts from him which seems to take far longer that it should. Doesn't help that he gives me a pile of screwed up receipts that I have to sort out or the fact that I am not very confident when it comes to figures!

Any advice?

Otterses · 21/05/2019 09:08

@mydogisthebest honestly, I'd try to qualify for Crisp too. Don't put all your eggs in one basket! Appen projects can end suddenly, mistakes can be made matched betting, there can be slow days on Crisp ... you get my point Grin

I do view Appen as a risky one. I've never been 'let go' but I have known others that have been for no clear reason.

@Otterses thank you for the moneyshed link. Some really good ideas on there. I noticed it recommended Arise, I was once advised not to bother with them by someone on MN. Does anyone work for Arise and can provide feedback please, I just don't want to purchase equipment if it's not worth it. Many thanks.

shabbadooof · 21/05/2019 09:52

@ChubRubTub

The Text Q&A stuff is a great earner once you get in. I used to make around £600+ a month from it. You would just log in and work whenever you wanted, I applied via 63336 which has a vacancies page.

As ever if you want other HIGH PAYING work instead of just low paying surveys type stuff please feel free to come over to The Money Shed forum and the thousands of UK Mums who use that site will be happy to help get you earning the absolute most you can for the time you have available ;)

mydogisthebest · 21/05/2019 10:08

Otterses, thanks for the advice. Yes you are right I should apply for both. I don't even know for sure I will get either - I really need to up my game on Crisp as I haven't even passed the test yet on 2 attempts!

Thankfully I have not made a mistake on matched betting yet but then I am going slower than a snail at it! I hope to speed up eventually but I have always been a very cautious person

The other thing I meant to ask was who is better to work for Appen or Lionbridge? I know you can't work for both. Lionbridge accepted me subject to doing their test but I haven't even tried that yet as not had the time to do the studying. Is the Appen test as difficult as the Lionbridge one?

Sorry for all the questions.

shabbadooof · 21/05/2019 10:54

@mydogisthebest

They both pay the same for Web Search Evaluator work. The only difference is from memory Lionbridge sack you off after 11 months while with Appen there is the chance to keep getting renewed every 6 months.

It's been 2 or 3 weeks and I still don't have my Crisp klipfolio log in. Am a bit concerned really as I want to be able to see how much work I have done.

For all I know it's not even logging what I have done?? Does it realise I am on the "mod 2" page? Who knows?!

Otterses · 21/05/2019 11:29

@allworthwhile didn't get mine for nearly a month - try not to worry, it is logging on their end.

Is anyone doing Cable or Wouri aka Thunderbird on Appen? I've applied for both but just looking for any first hand experience. Also finally passed crisp with 19/20 after about 8 attempts so for anyone else struggling with it keep trying!

reddA · 21/05/2019 16:33

I got invited to Rattle on Appen but I'm finding it really difficult, keep getting incorrect on the test - I know I've already failed as the pass rate is 80% and there are 100 to do, trouble is I'm going to have to finish the bastard thing before I can attempt it again (If I decide to Hmm )

Consoled myself by wasting time on Axie Infinity - 5 adult axies now (2 breedable) and my egg is now petite :) @Otterses are you battling? - I've been trying to battle every morning and night to get the EXP - I don't win many though Blush

Done a bit of Crisp but finding it hard going at the moment

Frenchdoors1 · 21/05/2019 16:33

Just out of interest, has anyone heard back from Clear blue yet?

Otterses · 21/05/2019 16:46

@Frenchdoors1 they don't want me with my manky, scarred and deformed uterus Grin they emailed to tell me so.
