Hello veterans and newbies Grin can't believe we're still going a quarter of the way through the year!

I don't know about everyone else, but I've been crap at tracking properly. Obviously I've got invoices to go off, but I'm going to try to be better this month.

Good start this morning! £28 (£18 less my £10 deposit) on a virgin bonanza box, £8 cashback on the virgin deal too. £10.61 Appen work already done today. I most likely won't do any Crisp today, as I've got an essay due Friday I need to crack on with.

£36.31 so far this month.

How's everyone else ticking along?

Otterses why is there a peacock gaurding your house? Neighbour hood watch Grin?

Octopus37 · 19/05/2019 19:17

Thank you PineapplePatty, I will send another email

PineapplePatty · 19/05/2019 19:51

@WheelyCote Crisp, I don't do Appen.

smurfmonkey · 19/05/2019 19:56

@Otterses ooh you have a better class of hooligan around your way Grin

@Octopus37 I've been working since 3rd May and haven't had my Klipfolio login yet, I sent an email to [email protected] on Friday which I believe is the recommended email for queries. I'm not worried about my work having not been recorded but it would be nice to know how fast I'm working/earning dosh!

BeeMyBaby · 19/05/2019 21:49

@WheelyCote itutorgroup don't require any teaching experience, just that you have a degree and that you agree to get tefl within 3 months after the first lesson you teach (courses start from around £10 on groupon). It's teaching children and adults in china, they give you a fair amount of training and you just follow the slides in the lessons so you don't need to lesson plan or anything, just review the slides quickly before the lesson that you are about to teach. My friend does it and she gets on well with it, it's just a shame me upload speed isn't high enough due to being in s country with particularly bad internet.

I can't remember who asked if crisp mind if you are abroad, no they don't. Payment is by bank transfer or PayPal , I think they didn't like the Dominican Republic or something like that though purely because of how banking there works.

ChubRubTub · 20/05/2019 00:07

Hi everyone. I'm just starting to look into all the different options for me to make some cash from home.

How much experience do you need to be accepted for Appen? Is it easier to earn with Appen or Crisp?

Thanks! Overwhelmed with all the different opportunities, so it's good to have this thread to help.

ChubRubTub · 20/05/2019 04:39

Also, if anyone could PM me any tips for the Crisp test, I'd be really grateful.

I just can't get more than 16 and feel I must be misunderstanding something.

I've got a masters ffs, but feel so stupid I could cry!

justtheonethen · 20/05/2019 07:43

@ChubRubTub don't worry the test is much harder than the work! Are you selecting multiple answers when appropriate?

justtheonethen · 20/05/2019 07:44

Also @ChubRubTub crisp is much easier/quicker to get started with in my experience. And it's not a project so you can work for them long term if you want to.

justtheonethen · 20/05/2019 07:45

@BeeMyBaby what does itutorgroup pay?

ChubRubTub · 20/05/2019 07:50

@justtheonethen that's good to know! I wondered if it was even worth bothering with if I wasn't going to be able to do the work.

I have selected multiple options for a few of them, but not all.

justtheonethen · 20/05/2019 08:14

@ChubRubTub acronyms of profanity count in case you're missing that.

BeeMyBaby · 20/05/2019 08:27

@justtheonethen
It's a bit complicated, you book yourself on hour slots, which are filled with either 1 25 min session, 2 25 min sessions or 1 45 min session, you get £6 for 25 mins or £7 for 45 mins plus extra rep point things I think. There is usually a min amount a week you need to sign up for, about 10 hours a week. My friend was doing the minimum and she was getting £450-£500 a month. Some of the hours are a bit weird as it's China but they have 'peak' slots from about 12-2pm on weekdays which fitted in well with my friend's children's nap schedule. Basically you need to work at least 10 hours in their peak times (Taiwan is UTC+8) but you can sign up for times on top of that. You also get more if you have more in your class I think, you could have up to 6 people, but young children are always 1-1 and you teach them things like colours and objects.

0hmygoodness · 20/05/2019 08:38

I've been lurking for few weeks on this thread and signed up to a few things so thank you to everyone.

Thanks to Otterses I am finally on the Crisp waiting list, and am now signed up to Appen.
I have a list of projects now showing for Appen, but which is the best to try to sign up for or doesn't it matter? (Am steering clear of the speech one!!)

Another one I haven't seen mentioned on here is an app, BeMyEye which is auditing shops mainly. Pretty straightforward, one off jobs for a few pounds and just done on a phone, so if you are passing the shop anyway it takes no time.

WheelyCote · 20/05/2019 08:39

Im in!! I can see what eveyone has been on about now. Saved java guidelines will read later after work

justtheonethen · 20/05/2019 08:49

@BeeMyBaby I think I'll stick to actual tutoring, that's so badly paid!

anxiouswaiting · 20/05/2019 09:06

Did anyone do the awful Appen recordings and still not get paid? I've just e-mailed them for the second time asking where my payment is as I did the job ages ago.

So annoying, it was a horrible task with terrible pay so its extra frustrating that they haven't paid me yet Angry

justtheonethen · 20/05/2019 09:17

@anxiouswaiting I did it and waited ages to get paid - got it eventually though.

BeeMyBaby · 20/05/2019 10:15

@justtheonethen I think their argument for the pay is that it evens out well above minimum wage, they provide the clients, teaching software and detailed lesson plans (PowerPoint points with guidance notes on each one on what you should be talking about, examples etc), plus you need no prior experience and no tefl for 3 months and obviously no travel costs. I think other companies want at least a tefl certificate and experience if possible. I agree it's probably not the best paid tutoring job but if you're just floundering about at home then it seems okay for someone who is not a pro at tutoring.

3dogsnorth · 20/05/2019 10:32

Can anyone help with crisp? I've tried a couple of times but can only get 15 in the test, don't know where I'm going wrong? Any tips?

ChubRubTub · 20/05/2019 11:27

@3dogsnorth I feel your pain! I'm stuck on 16.

justtheonethen · 20/05/2019 11:30

@BeeMyBaby I'm a teacher so I think it's appalling, but agree if you're not experienced then it's a good thing to do.

PollyShelby · 20/05/2019 12:03

I'm sure it's been asked before but I can't find it. Do any crispers know what the missing column on the dashboard means?

Otterses · 20/05/2019 13:25

Let's try again now that I'm on the right thread 😂 ...

This is really worth looking at. I was so excited by this email I posted it in the wrong place Grin May be some inspiration for some of you on there.
