What do you use? Think I’ve fucked up....

Flyinggeese · 13/06/2019 07:51

I just look for odds matches myself, it can be fine consuming but I really enjoy that part of MB. However.,, I am thinking of trying OM to help with finding good odds matches for price boosts (if OM does that).

Flyinggeese · 13/06/2019 07:52

QI what’s happened?

QIsForCube · 13/06/2019 19:14

Turns out nothing has..... I don’t think! My qualifying bet was only partially matched at the exchange. Which threw me.

My calculations say I’ve £9.37 profit (I went for min. odds of 3 to reduce my liability which is why I think it’s lower than the ~£15 shown on the tutorial).

My main concern is that I will end up partially matched or unmatched again. How can I stop this from happening?

Flyinggeese · 13/06/2019 19:28

The box that contains the odds on the exchange site also shows a £ figure. As long as your stake is not higher than that it will match straight away.

Flyinggeese · 13/06/2019 19:31

Sorry the £ amount may be under the odds box. Depending on which exchange you use.

QIsForCube · 13/06/2019 20:19

Thanks for your help! Looking to make my second bet tomorrow!

Eggproducer · 14/06/2019 15:14

I have just started dabbling in this and have a really stupid question, so please go easy on me.

If in football I bet (for example) for Liverpool beat Everton, what is the difference between laying the bet for Liverpool vs simply betting for Everton? Is it something to do with a draw possibility?

FreckledLeopard · 14/06/2019 15:29

@Eggproducer

Laying a bet is doing the exact opposite of the back bet.
If England were playing France, you could back England and back France, but if there was a draw, then both back bets would lose.

So if you back England, you lay England. If you back the draw, you lay the draw. If you back both teams to score, you lay both teams to score. If you back 2-1, you lay 2-1.

Eggproducer · 14/06/2019 15:51

Thank you @FreckledLeopard, that makes sense.

Eggproducer · 14/06/2019 22:30

Another question!

I just made my first bet with Ladbrokes (only £5, matched with Betfair); it gave me the option to boost the odds. Can this ever work against you for matched betting? Should I always select it if it gives me the option, or does it mess up the balancing act of laying the bet?

My maths is rapidly improving since starting matched betting, but it's still very new to me. I've made about £25 so far, including one silly (minor) mistake.

YesQueen · 15/06/2019 11:18

@Eggproducer yes boost it and input the new back odds, it will give you a lower qualifying loss

£838 profit for me in the past month, v happy with that

boringbetty · 15/06/2019 18:04

YesQueen can I ask how long you've been doing it for and how you've managed to earn that ? Is it just sport betting ?

YesQueen · 15/06/2019 21:10

@boringbetty sure Smile I think it was December when I started and most of my profit is low risk casino
I do bet to get, WH scratch of the day, 2ups, golden goal, WH 2nd horse round and then as much casino as possible

hsegfiugseskufh · 15/06/2019 21:24

Hi again! Well i have placed my first qualifying bet. Got my 3 free bets at william hill which i think ill do tomorrow as my brain is a bit fried.

Do i then just move on to the next sign up offer and do the same again?

I cant believe its possible to profit £800+ a month thats amazing. queen do you have to lay out a lot of your own money to get that sort of return? And do you spend hours doing it?

What am i likely to make in my first month do you think?!

YesQueen · 15/06/2019 21:27

@JoanMavisIcecreamGirl not really, I basically move lots of money about Grin
I had three big wins, £190, £176 and £353 which helped. Casino is variable, I've had weeks where I have only made £10

hsegfiugseskufh · 15/06/2019 21:55

I see! Sorry for 20 questions but is the casino side more actual gambling but just with free money from offers sorta thing?

Thanks

Eggproducer · 15/06/2019 21:56

I see people talking about casino offers - I have absolutely no clue how these work. Surely this is just gambling pure and simple, without matched betting?

I am very keen not to get drawn into anything that can lose money - I like the "risk free" element of matched betting.

Apologies if I've misunderstood anything.

YesQueen · 15/06/2019 21:58

It's classed as low risk basically the offers I do, they're always positive expected value (I don't do high risk or anything with negative value)
So something like stake £5, get 5 free spins. Or deposit £20 get 50 free spins, spend £10 get a £10 bonus
Anything with high wagering I don't touch either. It's low risk because it's positive expected value and I'm only risking low sums of money. I've done one offer before which is a £25 one, one day I was £9 down on it, the next £120 up so very variable

Eggproducer · 15/06/2019 22:31

@YesQueen That makes sense - although I guess the piece of the jigsaw I'm missing is the odds for casino betting. E.g. Bet £5, get 5 free spins - what is the likelihood of your stake being returned?

YesQueen · 15/06/2019 22:42

@Eggproducer it's difficult to say as it is variable but I use an EV calculator which tells you the expected value
So for £5 wager I would do the lowest possible spins, usually 10/20p ones and aim to lose as little as possible
On a £5 wager I've lost £4 before and I've also won £363

YesQueen · 16/06/2019 00:22

Forgot to say if you are signed up to William hill, do the summer sizzler promo - it's free money! I did it today, got 10 free spins which are at £1 each (most are 10p so this is v good) and won £9, there's no wagering either

hsegfiugseskufh · 16/06/2019 22:03

queen will take a look at that thanks! I have just placed my free bets and stand to make about £14. I didnt go with high odds because ive not really got the money spare to put up the £100 + liability.

Will i get anywhere doing it slowly but surely like this? Im seeing massive numbers and worrying ill never get there!

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/06/2019 16:16

Anyone seen any good ascot offers? I looked but it was a bit dead.

YesQueen · 17/06/2019 16:51

@Fluffycloudland77 betway and sky both have offers
