Anyone up for an earn £10 a day challenge this year?

Otterses · 02/01/2019 08:06

I was wondering if anyone would like to join me Smile truth be told I really need the support!

Having DS has reduced my savings, and ability to save now that I'm paying for childcare. So my aim this year is to make £3650, or £10 a day which sounds far less terrifying.

I just thought this would be a great idea to share ideas for earning extra money and cheering each other on. Way better than just staring at a spreadsheet.

Soooooo here it goes.

Day One - £33.37/3650

£22.87 matched betting, and £10.61 Leapforce.

Great thanks that's not so bad then made just over £8 in the end. I work on my computer all day anyway so didn't seem any work to take a few surveys.

I also signed up for mystery shopping but everyone I looked at I would have spent more than what they paid you. So for example you had to buy certain things which added up to more than what they would reimburse. Didn't really seem worth it unless you were already planning on going somewhere.

startingafresh1 · 10/01/2019 21:10

Great news otter, if the worst happened would you get some redundancy?

Wow courage that's a great haul from Prolific Academic. I signed up on Sunday and have only managed £3.80 despite completing every survey that I was offered. I maybe need to chalk for surveys more often?!

I'd like to try MB but I'm I don't have a very mathematical brain so it might be too complicated for me. Think I'll look into it anyway.

MyDcAreMarvel · 11/01/2019 00:22

I’m in op got lots to eBay and been meaning to do matched betting for ages.

Namechangedzzz · 11/01/2019 10:57

If anyone else would like to join prolific academic please message me and I will send you a link and then I will get a little bit of money (at no cost to you) when you first cash out. Thank you ☺️

thenightsky · 11/01/2019 11:08

I've joined Prolific today, but it won't let me add my paypal details. I cannot see how they are going to pay me without this Confused

thenightsky · 11/01/2019 11:09

Oh bollux namechanged just seen your last post... I should have used your link, sorry Sad

startingafresh1 · 11/01/2019 12:20

I don't think they PA pays our until you have £5.00 worth of studies- maybe they will allow you to enter your PayPal details after you've built up sufficient credit? Just a thought.....

I've not had any surveys for 2 days on PA. I'm checking quite frequently, so am a bit disappointed.

Otterses · 11/01/2019 12:27

@startingafresh1 I may be wrong, but I thought PayPal charged you if you withdrew from PA with less than £10?

@thenightsky Are you trying to do it from your phone? I had so many issues signing up on there. Might be worth trying adding your PayPal on a computer?

@MyDcAreMarvel Go on! Inspire me to try eBay again have you got a lot to sell?

@startingafresh1 No chance of redundancy - unless they drag my employment out till the end of March. I've not been here long enough unfortunately.

Leapforce has thrown a spanner in the works, a couple of new projects have appeared to apply for on my tab. One of them would bump me up to about £500 a month from LF alone. So I've applied and crossed my fingers.

I'll update later with my totals so far. I need to keep a better eye on my spreadsheet. Having the period from hell and I've fallen off the wagon the last few days.

I’m in too. Do you know if you have to pay tax on Leapforce stuff? Just about to sign up but there was a tax question that threw me a bit

namechangedforanon · 11/01/2019 13:44

Signed up to prolific but not been offered anything yet

Otterses · 11/01/2019 16:04

@CarolSpatula you want to be your own limited company I think is the option you tick. You pay tax, but you just register as self employed and fill out a form at the end of the year Smile

CarolSpatula · 11/01/2019 16:15

Thank you @Otterses - will get on and apply 🙂

Otterses · 11/01/2019 16:37

If you hear nothing back from LF, Lionbridge were really quick to get back to me @CarolSpatula - so give them a go too.

I had this from redwigwam, not sure if this may be of interest to any of you. Nearly £10 an hour Smile

Has anyone signed up with Amazon mechanical turk?

CarolSpatula · 11/01/2019 21:48

Thanks for the tip @Otterses

Just started matched betting tonight, only done my first bet to get the free ones, will see how I go!

MariaWaria · 11/01/2019 22:16

Bad reviews for Amazon mechanical turk, stopitandtidyupp

elfycat · 11/01/2019 22:29

I'm going to join this challenge. Not matched betting, but etsy/ebay will be my thing. I sold a vintage bangle on the 4th for £11.50 more than I paid for it, and £6 worth of my first Ravelry pattern (£50 since I put it up on the 21st Dec).

Designing my next scarf/shawl at the moment; and I have more vintage stuff to sell. £3650 here I come Grin

OnNaturesCourse · 11/01/2019 22:32

Placemarking.

Have signed up to LF...

Anything extra for our house deposit while I'm a SAHP!

MellyPapa · 11/01/2019 23:23

Hi all, have been reading your posts this week and you've inspired me!

However, I did try to join Leapforce on Appen but the link to verify my phone just kept saying 404 not found so I had to abort :( Anyone else had this issue?

Otterses · 12/01/2019 07:12

My LF payment came through last night so I'm going to put a of this towards matched betting (obviously won't be counting my December invoice as money I've made this year, that would be cheating!)

I think I'm going to open up a separate account for the MB. NatWest sent me an arsey text wanting to confirm all of my transactions and blocked my debit card so I'll look at that later. Going to hopefully set up a few qualifying bets this evening. I'm hoping the extra £150 should see me whizzing through the offers. A different account should help keep track of what I'm saving too - I admit I've ended up a bit confused so far with what's 'my money' in my account and what's extra earnings.

Let us know how you get on @CarolSpatula ! Remember to check for cash back too (I've been crap at this lately).

@stopitandtidyupp I signed up once, but was really out off by people saying that a lot of jobs seem to get declined - so you've done the work but don't get paid. That may just be the minority though.

Welcome @elfycat ! The Etsy stuff sounds really fun, it must be lively earning extra cash from something you enjoy.

@OnNaturesCourse Do Lionbridge too in case LF are slow on the uptake it's a fantastic way of earning extra money around kids. Let us know how you get on.

@MellyPapa Hi there! I actually had this problem with lion bridge earlier this week. It did seem to work a few hours later. If it's still not letting you validate your phone today, it may be worth emailing them? I think it's under something like contact us about your application.

It's bit of a slow burner - but I think you should all download VYPR Grin you earn points for looking at photos of food.

I've only been offered one study on prolific academic - for 55p! But will keep checking.

I have had some photos accepted onto Shutterstock and am going to try to sign up with some other agencies too. Apparently you need thousands on there to make any kind of income though (eg if you have a few thousand photos you might be able to make £100 a month) so it's a long game!

thenightsky · 12/01/2019 12:15

I did 6 surveys on Prolific last night. They all came through within hours of me completing my details. All approved this morning. Nothing today so far though.

Looked at Leap Force but it seems a bit complicated. Is it worth the initial effort?

lannister · 12/01/2019 12:41

Does anyone follow a similar thread on the MSE website forum? It's quite good and has great ideas

stopitandtidyupp · 12/01/2019 13:20

Nightsky I agree. PA is so easy and you have a choice. I am a bit scared to the the others.
I don't want an exam either. 😬

I will also avoid mechanical turk.
