Why are MLMs/ Network Marketing 'businesses' a scam?

990 replies

Spongebobette · 31/10/2018 20:40

This is the 44th thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, Valentus, TS Life, and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs
Over 90% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

Could someone link to the first thread?

cheesymashandbeans · 31/10/2018 20:53

Sorry to sound stupid, but what is MLM?

Spongebobette · 31/10/2018 21:01

Any huns crowbarring Halloween into their social media? We all know it's a trick 🎃

DappledThings · 31/10/2018 21:50

Thank you Spongebobette

notsurewhatshappening · 31/10/2018 21:53

Place marking! Thanks Spongebobette 😀

My friend recently started Younique. First week- she made a video of her opening the starter kit. Second week- she sold a few bits to friends and photographed them all wrapped up. Posted pics of happy customers wearing their makeup. Third week - posted asking for hostesses for makeup parties (no replies).

Any guesses what her next post will be? It seems to follow the same pattern from one bot to the next!

MaisyPops · 31/10/2018 21:55

I've had some hun hopping. Left one MLM (having got quite high i believe) to join another but this time the products are also more awesome and they don't think they're going to be let down by their teamies. Apparnetly the new company really values it's associate sparkle goddesses and seeks to empower them to be the bravest, bestest, most glitterful empower momtrepreneurs they can be.

IlikebigbotsandIcannotlie · 31/10/2018 22:12

I also report sleaze on a regular basis btw.

DownThePan · 31/10/2018 22:20

@notsurewhatshappening Next post from your YouniqueHun will be looking for Y-sisters to join her team along with some bollocks about law of attraction, mindset and gratitude.

BSintolerant · 31/10/2018 22:42

Gratitude, twatitude. They're all so blessed.

Any clues as to who Sleaze is? I can't figure it out!

NeverTwerkNaked · 31/10/2018 22:45

I have reported Yawn as well - will continue to do so as she offends me greatly

TS Life is in Pre Launch in the USA from tomorrow. Then The Messiah will ascend to his golden pyramid shaped throne and rule the world, sipping mint choc chip shakes with his “pioneers”

GoldenKelpie · 31/10/2018 23:59

Thanks for starting new thread, Sponge. Anyone have experience of Partylite? Just found out a colleague doing it. Very surprised. He has mentioned it (not to me) but hasn't pushed it to staff. Had a look online, expensive candles and accessories. I mostly get my scented candles as gifts (work in a school Grin) but if buying for myself get them very cheap as I just like a warm glowing display in my lounge in winter.

Spongebobette · 01/11/2018 02:07

@Maisypops

  • ‘morning face’ to ‘made up’ face
  • video of her putting on makeup
  • close up pics of revolting spidery lashes
  • false claims that Younique is cruelty free
  • dodgy claims about the Younique Foundation
  • excited posts about going to a conference in Telford (all expenses paid for...by her!)
  • photos of the Presenter’s Kit with an invitation to be a ‘kitnapper’

Sept 15th Y A W N attended a ball for a friend that had cancer the poor lady passed away yesterday and not even a mention of her on her page, even Uber had the decency to pay her respects Sad

Spongebobette · 01/11/2018 02:11

@mumof3

Sleaze is part of a #powercouple and the joint founder of TMANOE

@Ladiva

The rest of the world only exists to boost Yawn’s profile and sales

I’m sure she’ll find a way to refer to this bereavement in a way that benefits her business

Spongebobette That's sad but true.

Spongebobette · 01/11/2018 02:20

PS @Ladiva you’ll notice that Yawn is ‘back to normal’ just a few days after her husband lost his mother.
Hard as nails.

My friend has recently joined Usborne Books. She’s added all her friends to her selling page and is repeatedly pestering people to buy books. Her posts have zero likes or comments... until she posts a free competition then 100 people comment!

She regularly posts “raffles” where you have to buy a number and then she draws a winner. Obviously it only works if she sells all the numbers to cover the cost of prizes. Except not enough people are buying numbers so she keeps cancelling the raffles. There have been some very annoyed posts from people who’ve bought tickets to win good prizes and had their tickets “rolled over” to a new raffle with less numbers and smaller prizes. And a VERY annoyed post from a lady who was the only one who bought a ticket therefore she thought she should receive the prize. She didn’t want her £1 back, she wanted the prize!

I’m afraid I’ve started avoiding my friend now because I’m sick of being pestered to buy books. She’s now posting for people to join her team and sell books. Yes, because I can see she’s done so well with it...

brookshelley · 01/11/2018 02:59

A friend has started Arbonne and her FB feed is so tedious now. Lots of pictures of her looking tired and then looking beautiful and fresh thanks to their products. And other Arbonne sellers commenting "You look AMAZING wow what a transformation."
