Has anyone spotted today's FL Facebook script yet?

  1. Post asking if anyone wants/needs to lose 2 stone
  2. Later on post about how all those that replied have now become part of a supportive club.

They try to make it sound so personal (oh dear I've eaten too much over Xmas , what am I like, I need to lose some weight. See I'm just like you really. Join me and we can do it together although the reality is once I get your £100 I don't give a stuff about you ) but once you follow more than one bot the same script pops up on the same day. So much for being your own boss when you are told what to say and when to say it.

fitgirl26 · 28/12/2017 22:43

And heaven forbid you ask to join Yawnbot's "supportive weight loss group" if you're already an FL FBO. You can royally fuck off - you have already been reeled in and are of no further use.

ReformedBot · 28/12/2017 23:18

Yikes 'you're already an fbo'. That comment is telling on so many levels!

fitgirl26 · 28/12/2017 23:23

"Added you hun x"
"Added you hun x"
"Already added you hun x"
"FUCK OFF"

fitgirl26 · 28/12/2017 23:36

Sorry for swearing. I have been ill all over Christmas and have partaken in medicinal port.

Rumplelipskin · 29/12/2017 00:00

I need to lose 2 stones - probably a lot more if I am being honest......

entrepeneur · 29/12/2017 00:00

It's sad how apologetic the FLBot is when she asks to join Yawnbot's weight loss group and Yawn tells her no you can't join. The bot ends up apologising to Yawnbot - it has a "mean girl" vibe about it!

ToucheEcat · 29/12/2017 10:28

How many post into these weight loss groups will the bots get before the "subtle" promotion of c9s?

fitgirl26 · 29/12/2017 12:36

January is miserable enough without having to ingest a load of vile aloe gloop.

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 29/12/2017 14:05

Thangbot's New Year post highlights how MLM target vulnerable people. She has also admitted to drug problems in the last year

GoldenKelpie · 29/12/2017 18:07

I too understand rumple's comments about being uncomfortable when reading personal comments about certain anonymous bots behaviours. However, I've read first hand accounts of bots promoting their "dream lifestyles bought by xxx mlm" which are lies (and provable), but they attract sign-ups from people (women) who believe them and trust them. It is despicable Angry.

As for exploiting another set of people; those going through the devastating effects of homelessness Shock fitgirl. Words fail me. Is it not enough to exploit pregnant women, financially vulnerable women, women with disabled families, the sick, depressed, abused. Bloody hell, what have I left out to exploit?

Do these people sit around brain-storming their next potential exploitable group of individuals? No-one is safe Sad.

Oh yes, I missed out our old favourite; fat women who are searching for a way to lose weight with a "supportive weight-loss group", which, being MLM will be anything but.

Whiterangey · 29/12/2017 19:32

I agree Tw1nset, it's actually really sad.

She can't work outside of the home, whoever first approached her must have thought it was Christmas.

As well as the drug problem she's now talking about having a criminal record and if she can get a visa to go to Las Vegas. Some of her friends are encouraging her to just not declare her conviction on the visa form.

Having a discussion about illegally omitting something like that publically is bad enough, but it's even worse shortly after you've described how you've made some enemies this year. Not a wise decision. I hope she decides to do things legally.

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 29/12/2017 20:12

@Whiterangey

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 29/12/2017 20:16

@Whiterangey sorry my toddler pressed post. It is amazing how many other people with criminal records that she has on her FB list. Again are these all people sucked into MLM because their criminal record prevents them from getting a job. Does Brokebot also have a record? I think he does

Sean1984 · 29/12/2017 21:17

Can someone nit forget to create new thread, i dont have a clue how to

miffytherabbit1974 · 29/12/2017 21:58

In a bit of a rush to get dinner on table, but in regard to Rumpelipskin's point about not getting into personal details or personalities:

In every other walk of life, I absolutely agree with you. However, the likes of Salonbot have built a "career" duping people exactly through exploiting not only her own private life and claims of personal wealth to sucker people in and con them. Even her wedding, which she advertised to the point of nausea in pursuit of hooking in new recruits, was fair game as far as she was concerned.

Also, I don't think something is slander if it is true, surely? I've yet to read any comments about Salonbot here on these threads which haven't turned out to be both true and accurate regarding this particular bot.

I do get the spirit of what you are saying though. If only some of these bots were as thoughtful or as well intentioned.

Ladiva1971 · 30/12/2017 00:41

I tied to create a new Fred but failed Grin

Ladiva1971 · 30/12/2017 00:42

tried*

BethanyBarleywater · 30/12/2017 07:39

Can someone point me in the direction of BrokeBot's new identity?

Magicnumbers · 30/12/2017 17:47

Just to go back to the comments on thread 33 regarding speculation on lifestyle/finance/personal stuff.

I have a friend now squarely in the MLM space, including crypto. She is now pulling people into her world, persuading them to part with money and set themselves up for failure and loss, partly through making it personal and about her lifestyle and finances. She now labels herself as a 2018 crypto millionaire, and keeps going on about how her many paydays keeps her lifestyle including a very nice car.

It’s utter bollocks- her car was bought by her husband prior to her MLM involvement, and the desperation of her posts shows that she needs to reel people in. But I know that because she’s my friend and I have known her for years. I know her well pre-MLM. People who haven’t known her so well or are so close may actually think that crypto and MLM is funding this.

This is what MLMhas done to my friend- lying to make money off people. I struggle to be civil to her these days.

Yawnbot is using her little projects to create a rapport with her audience and to beat the Facebook algorithms. It’s sneaky and should be exposed/scrutinised.

ReformedBot · 19/01/2018 16:22

New thread?

CurlsandCurves · 19/01/2018 17:27

Are we allowed after all the hoo haa on the other one?

miffytherabbit1974 · 19/01/2018 17:48

I include myself when I say this, but I think quite a few of us have taken our eyes off the real targets and become overly involved in the personalities of some of these bots. I apologise, because I know I was guilty of forgetting that real people have become caught up in the cult of MLM, and some of those people are vulnerable. I'm sorry.

This is just my opinion, but I don't think discussion of MLM shenanigans should stop, but I do think many of us need to recalibrate our efforts towards the MLM companies and away from those at the bottom of the proverbial pyramid. The last 24 hours have made me see that people get sucked in to MLM for all kinds of reasons, and many of them go in with the best of intentions (wanting to make a better life for their kids, wanting to improve their prospects etc).

Maybe another we could aim to do is to stop swapping "bot" names in private chat? I know a couple of others have suggested this, and it seems like something we might all benefit from not doing anymore. It takes the personalities out of the equation, if nothing else.

These threads have been an enormous education for me personally, and I for one would be really dismayed if we couldn't all find a way forward. There is a lot of unintentional humour to be found in the circus of MLM and pyramid schemes, and that's fine. But I can see now that when that humour turns to teasing and then out right mockery towards individuals, the joke starts to move into the realm of cruelty, and that's unedifying for all of us.

As I mentioned, I personally apologise unconditionally for my part in this.
