So I somehow made twenty quid on my trigger bet at William Hill, and was very confused. Happy, but worried I had screwed up, albeit to my benefit - and that I might screw up the other way next time.

But it's OK, it turns out it was because of the Best Odds Guaranteed thing. The odds drifted, and then the horse surprisingly won. I found a good discussion about it on a blog - link below in case this is something anyone else needs to get their head around:

matchedbettingblog.com/topic/best-odds-guaranteed-2/#.Ws9EJpch3IU

I won't be trying to strategise this happening again though - still way over my head really.

64BooLane · 12/04/2018 12:40

shortaris, I'm not sure, I'm a bit intimidated by the National! Watching and learning mainly Grin

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 12/04/2018 16:03

Ow my head hurts. Thanks for advice. This week I seem to be treading water but I know it’s because I’m placing lots of trigger bets but the free bets haven’t come in yet. It feels frustrating, and definitely feels like I’m not doing it right as my bank balance is not growing.

I tried to bet on an extra place race today to check how it all works but the odds were moving around too quickly so I chickened out. Too close to the action I think. Does anyone know how soon you can place your bets on grand national day? The more time I have the better. The liability £’s look mouth-wateringly high.

I’m trying to do it all on the quiet as ds1 home from uni and has had a bit of a gambling problem, so hiding all evidence from him while he’s around. DH totally on board with it.

Frouby · 12/04/2018 16:09

Placemarking for later.

I have been dabbling a bit with matched betting. Have the account and am with smarkets and betfair but it's finding the time to do it all.

Hoping to dedicate an hour a day from next week.

Inacountrygarden · 12/04/2018 16:36

I've also been dabbling and keeping half an eye on this thread. I've made about £350 so far from mainly the sign up offers.
I thought I'd try and get my head around Each Way and extra places betting by using the Oddsmonkey matchers, but like Through said, the odds kept jumping around and my wifi can't seem to keep up with the speed necessary. Also the liabilities required seemed eyewateringly high - I have the balance in the exchange to meet the liabilities but I'm worried I'll mess up and lose loads of money.

CaveMum · 13/04/2018 22:50

Hi all, I was on this thread at the start but it fell off my threads list.

I’ve been MB for 3 mo thx now and hit £1000 Profit yesterday so I’m well chuffed!

Out of interest is anyone on here on the Team Profit Facebook page? I find it invaluable for tips/advice and finding offers.

mamahanji · 14/04/2018 07:24

Yes I'm on the Facebook group. Absolutely love it. It's a gold mine that place!

64BooLane · 14/04/2018 13:07

Happy Grand National day to all - I hope you make lots of profit Brew

64BooLane · 15/04/2018 17:49

Well, I made £10.37.

Feel like I’m slowly murdering this thread with my underwhelming updates Grin

CaveMum · 15/04/2018 21:24

Slow and steady wins the race Wink

I did the Bet365 offer though only had the float to exploit about half of it and also got a nice odds boost offer (triple the odds) from Grosvenor that I managed to turn into profit.

NettleTea · 15/04/2018 21:46

I did the Bet365 and got around £75 for it - I had also done the Betway, The smarkets, LeoVegas, PaddyPower in the run up.
Had a punt bet on Tiger Roll and a couple of others, so came out on top with that too, as did my son, who won £82 on Tiger Roll.
Not a bad few days.
Have had a few lucky wins on the slots too, with £130 on a william Hill 'bet £5 get some spins' offer

64BooLane · 15/04/2018 23:34

I need to read up on free spins again. I kind of understand the wagering requirement but in practice I don’t know whether there’s an element of basic competence strategy you need to bring to it to keep from losing your hypothetical winnings.

I had some free Dreamcatcher spins this morning, and that was weirdly fascinating because it’s a live dealer game. Felt v seedy watching a young woman walking up and down spinning the wheel while random losers worldwide sent her insulting messages via the chat feature, which scrolled constantly up one side. Matched betting takes you along some eccentric paths.

mamahanji · 16/04/2018 10:23

Live casino is a horrible place. It's all young Eastern European women wearing satin corsets and having to talk to people constantly flirting and sending inappropriate messages.

There are calculators for wagering that recommend spin size and calculate bust out chance. The wagering is based on the winnings. So say you won £13 from 10 free spins and it has 20x wagering so you would have to wager £260 before the money was yours.

The best strategy is high rtp, low variance, min spin max lines. Until you get a big win/bonus and then recalculate as it's usually better to up the spin size.

Some people prefer to do big spins on a medium - high variance slot, that way if you win, you get a nice win to hopefully carry you through wagering, or you bust out nice and quickly and don't waste time.

I do either of the two, depending on the slots available and the wagering requirements.

MissFitton · 17/04/2018 14:16

I agree re live casino - hate dreamcatcher with a passion for the reasons above. I find I have better luck though on live roulette so just play with the sound off!

How are we all doing? Got a few things going on tonight!

MissFitton · 24/04/2018 22:42

Liverpool Roma was nice and profitable.

I've also got around to joining the team profit fb group (only taken me a year!) and that's made a difference to my profits!

CaveMum · 25/04/2018 15:31

See you around there @MissFitton 😜

I jumped on the Boylesports sign up offer for Punchestown - join and place a £20 bet on Day 1 and get a free £10 bet every day of the Festival.

Also got a nice little profit on the Champions League goals = Free Spins offer when I hit a bonus round on the first spin and got £14!

MissFitton · 25/04/2018 18:33

I'll look out for you @CaveMum - just throw in the odd reference to Pom bears and naice ham WinkGrin

I made the princely sum of 24p from those free spins. Oh well!

It’s not going to make me my fortune I fear. I started on the 1st April and about £350 in profit. But I’ve spent hours and hours on it.

CaveMum · 25/04/2018 20:15

That’s really good going @ThroughThickAndThin01 I only made about £200 in my first month. The effect is cumulative, the bigger your bank the more offers you can take up,

Keep at it, work your way through the Welcome Offers, take up a few additional offers as and when you can (like the free bet clubs and the free spins) and before you know it you’ll be well on your way.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/04/2018 20:30

Thanks for encouragement CaveMum, I haven’t signed up with everyone yet, about 10 so far, so have a few in reserve. I have noticed that my free bets I’ve subsequently been offered mirror my ‘betting’ history amounts, so I’m going to bet bigger amounts in the next one I open. Hopefully therefore get bigger gains. I haven’t attempted the spin stuff yet because it looks like double Dutch 😀. So going slowly slowly really.

I keep getting enticed into a lot of the seasoned matched bettors stuff like 2up, and horse racing extra places, and think I’m losing too much in qualifying bets, without the wins.

Does anyone have a good blog they follow? I’ve looked at Matchedbettingguy.

I don’t know how people make quite so much money from it!

CaveMum · 25/04/2018 20:51

I’m on the Team Profit Facebook page and have a subscription to OddsMonkey. It’s £17 per month (though there are elements you can use for free) and honestly pays for itself. TP is fantastic too, always people around to ask advice from and everyone helps each other out in explaining how to profit from offers.

I’d leave stuff like 2Ups and Extra Places alone for now until you are more familiar with how it works and have a bigger bank. Stick to the Bet X Get Y type offers and things like the Coral and Ladbrokes “Goals = Spins” offers and work through the Welcome Offers.

CaveMum · 25/04/2018 20:52

The Team Profit website is good too (free to subscribe) there are blogs and helpful articles to point you in the right direction.

shortaris1 · 25/04/2018 22:49

I'm on Team Profit too. I love his lunchtime offers blog, quick wins and well explained.

Well done Throughthickandthin that's good going! I agree with Cavemum, extra places are footery and the losses are high. I don't do them. Bet clubs and all the 'refund if x happens' are good. I've had 2 free bets from that today alone. I do love a slot too but it's not usually risk free other than the 'free sp ins after football bets' on Lads and Coral.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/04/2018 08:06

I am an Oddsmonkey subscriber. Think I need to read their tutorials again. I’ve got to face my fear about spins and slots which mean absolutely nothing to me, have no idea!

Think I’ve been hoodwinked by the extra places as happened to get it right for the grand national which was lucrative.

I’m finding it all so time consuming. Think I’ll get grubbed quite early through my clicking on the sites, and placing bets but cancelling before they go though because odds have changed and I’m too slow. And continually looking at my balances Grin.

I did read somewhere (here?) to withdraw rarely from the bookies as each time a withdrawal is made they’ll take a look at your account. Better to stay under the radar.
