LLOYDSTSB have still NOT responded to my first letter which was sent recorded delivery on the 7th march, dated 6th march. is it 30 working days or just 30 days? are they well known for dragging on this one?

fizzbuzz · 07/04/2007 17:11

Halifax, informed dp, that if he claimed any more bank charges back, they would close his account........

jampot · 07/04/2007 17:15

i wrote to lloyds claiming back 700 worth of charges and they wrote to me saying "sorry but you knew the charges etc"

I still have to get round to writing the letter before action thing

I have heard that halifax will close the bank account if they repay back the charges, is this true? I am owed around £1200, and want to do it, but dont want my bank account closed...

jampot · 07/04/2007 17:59

I have 2 bank accounts with lloyds which I am happy to close if necessary as we have 5 with barclays and a couple of others.

I will get the letter out this week

fizzbuzz · 07/04/2007 18:14

misdee · 07/04/2007 18:15

jampot · 07/04/2007 18:20

misdee i think its 40 days isnt it?

and fwiw i would be inclined to think its 40 days from receipt (allowing 2 working days for the letter to reach them - wouldnt do anything for another couple of weeks

misdee · 07/04/2007 18:26

ok, will look at my letter again lol.

also still waiting on other statements from abbey.

jofeb04 · 07/04/2007 19:42

Thought I'd join this thread!!

Sent the letter to Barclays on the 14th March, still waiting for the statements etc, but they have still got a bit of time to send them out to me!

well done Mellowma!!

I had just about decided to accept the money this morning, but then a letter arrived from Barstards bank informing me they had charged me ANOTHER £30 for being £6 over my limit

It's made me really tempted to take them for the whole lot. can't decide though whether it's worth ringing them on Tuesday and ranting about these last charges and seeing what they say. Also should add that they royally buggered me about around christmas and made such a balls-up with one of my accounts they gave me £100 as a goodwill gesture after I wrote them a furious letter (unrelated to my o/d charges). I wonder if reference to their shoddy treatment of me might help my case? I need to work out what I'm going to say when I ring them. Any ideas?

Trix11 · 08/04/2007 10:39

Hi, can anyone tell me if I can claim back 'interest charged whilst overdrawn' as well?

Thanks, Im just completing the spreadsheet listing all my charges and wow are they adding up

Samantha28 · 08/04/2007 10:44

I sent a letter in January but I've heard nothing. That to the Halifax

Trix11 · 08/04/2007 10:46

Samantha was that the letter requesting copy statements or the letter requesting your money back?

Thank you mellowma, if I add it all on (it makes quite a difference) the total amount will be different to the amount stated in the first letter, will that be ok?

Sorry for being a bit wussy - I've been trying to register on the consumer action group site but can't for some reason. I need a nit of advice and reassurance.

So tomorrow I'm planning to ring Barstards bank and say I'm furious that more charages are being added as we speak; also they were incompetent arses over Christmas and buggered up my account, so I want to take things further and NOT accept the settlement fee they offered in the letter the other day. If they say 'go on then see if we care', and I register my court claim online (I will use the link on moneysavingexpert) do I have to pay upfront there and then? How much will it be? I don't understand how I can change the amount I'm claiming for (the amount will change due to more charges & court fee). There are also threads on CAG saying they've been waiting donkeys for their money from Barclays. How long does it usually take from court claim to settlement in full? Sorry for being thick
