I did not send a list of all the charges just the total amount plus interest. Have I done it wrong then

princessmelTingChoccyEggs · 02/04/2007 16:28

We've been offered part of our money. We refused so they upped it a bit. Not sure whether to accept it or not. We're with Halifax.

Trix11 · 02/04/2007 16:31

Has everyone sent a list of all the charges with their letter requesting the banks refund their money?

TwirlyN · 02/04/2007 16:50

Couldn't wait until 5pm. and thought sod it. A warrant has been issued. I hope this will be the end of it, and I get my money back.

princessmelTingChoccyEggs · 02/04/2007 16:53

I sent the list we printed off from moneysavingexpert.com . It was in the section where you calculate the interest. It included all charges and interest.

mamatres · 02/04/2007 17:09

oh i dont know what to do now. i have sent off requests for refunds to HSBC and Barclays. both have replied to me saying they are looking into it but its been over 40 days for both banks now and havent yet recieved an 'offer'. do i carr on waiting? have they partly fulfilled their duty to respond within 40 days by writing that? how long should i wait? am scared of doing the court summons thing or even speaking to them, had so many bad dealings with them in the past.
scared of speaking to them, worried what i should do, but desperately NEED that money!!!!! any suggestions?

princessmelTingChoccyEggs · 02/04/2007 17:10

I'd wait. We had to for a while. We had a letter like that too. Then we got sent an offer letter.

agnesnitt · 02/04/2007 17:14

I recently (a week or so ago) closed my HSBC bank account because they hit me for £100 in charges in one month. I only get £100 a month anyway so it was a nightmare. Do you think there's any chance of me reclaiming any of the charge? Is it worth pursuing? I could really do with even a small slice of that £100 to be honest.

Trix11 · 02/04/2007 17:36

Agnes, have you phoned them to see if they will reverse the charges?

thanks Mellowma. have copied and pasted to my desktop.
i am ever hopeful that at least HSBC will get back to me soon as dh heard from them a couple of weeks ago giving him back full amount. the barclays one bothers me a bit because i no longer even have that account. its been closed for about a year!
will perhaps hold off til end of week and if still not heard anything will contact them with letter you posted.

if you dont mind me asking, as i'm nosy, how do you know so much about it? have you gone through it at length and won back loads of cash? you dont have to answer that abviously. just being nosy!

Thanks for the advice MellowMa, I may just do that when I can find out if I have a chequebook with my new account. It can't hurt to try, and with a baby on the way even £100 can be helpful.

i have a question.
i am sending my letter off today asking my bank and employer for my statements for the last 6 years (i am currently on maternity leave till september this year)
how will this affect my employment?
should i quickly get my dental work claim in before they terminate my contract? lol
seriously though.

misdee · 03/04/2007 11:54

have got back my last 12 months statements from abbey, the other 5 years will be coming on microfile ior soenmthing. but i am almost certain that charges are very few and far between on this account. so once i have added all the charges up (cant be dealing with the interest sorry) then do i send back the highlighted bits of charges and a letter, or just a letter?

Trix11 · 03/04/2007 14:37

Mellow would you mind doing a link if you can, to the form that I need to complete with all the charges. Aarrggh - Im going to have to start all over!!

Thanks very much for your help though

Trix11 · 03/04/2007 14:47

Mellow, no need to do a link, I found a nice simple spreadsheet to complete. I will get to work on it tonight when the kids are in bed. Do I need to start all over again then?

We got an offer letter with an amount which we refused. They upped it. We said no again, so they upped it again. We said yes to that.

Didn't get full amount but not far off it. Just needed some money to be honest. Good luck everyone.
