Still going strong here at bot watch HQ on MN!

Previous thread here

Botwatch on Wordpress and on Facebook

Timeless Vie on Wordpress and on Facebook

Eyespeying's Blog aka #manhun, even if he's been banned by MNHQ

Hommetepreneur on Facebook

We have our own regularly returning bots.

Glossary:

Bots: our affectionate name for victims of the MLM racket

MLM: Multi-level Marketing schemes - essentially pyramid schemes that are just legal because you sell a product. Reliant upon constant recruitment despite there not being enough people in the world to go beyond about 12 levels if everyone recruited 6.

Downline/Upline: the people you recruited and those who recruited you (going up and down the pyramid inverted funnel)

Timeless Vie: Parody of MLM schemes (though you might spot one in particular) that also carries out fearless investigative work. Flogging the amazing skinny lard and now carbonated lard. The arsenic is not the evil Victorian stuff. #TeamDannii #gettingalardon

Hommetrepreneur: also excellent parody site focussing on the menz

BotWatch: Rather more serious, keeps an eye on what the Bots are claiming next, particularly in reference to health and income claims. Also fearless.

Inverted Funnel: Timeless Vie is NOT a pyramid - it's an inverted Funnel, OK?

Eyes: Our former member Eyespying who knows LOTS about MLM schemes. He's still our very own #manhun.

Mine is doing the 'I'm so kind and caring, buy my crappy overpriced toothpaste and I'll donate my profit to some poor disabled person. Plastering this person's photo and story all over her business fb to boost her sales. Angry

It really enrages me but her followers are lapping it it with cries of 'aww, you're so fab hun' and 'well done botname, so kind of you to do this'

I so want to post 'Just donate the six fucking quid straight to this person if you want to help'.

Toobusytowee · 25/01/2017 20:19

Some information about Enjo that Eye came across-

Enjo

It's all the same old scripted 'life transforming MLM' BS.

There are more videos peddling the unoriginal 'Enjo' fairy story.

CheekySmile · 25/01/2017 20:37

"Six figure income creator" = £1000.00

I'm sure bots can achieve this figure in income over a year. What they take home in profit (if anything) is another matter entirely.

DoratheExplorer17 · 25/01/2017 22:55

Quick question, I'm sure one of you will be able to help. Where's the best place to get free legal advice about a personal situation?

cozietoesie · 25/01/2017 23:16

You could always post on the Legal board, Dora. (With a NC if appropriate.) Smile

throwingpebbles · 25/01/2017 23:50

dora - i second the legal board. Lots of lawyers lurking on there Wink

Where to go in the real world depends on what kind of problem it is. If nothing else if you post the question on the legal board you should get some sign posting as to where to go next Smile

cozietoesie · 25/01/2017 23:54

It's in 'Other Stuff' on the Topics list. Called Legal Matters.

MyCatsHateMLMtoo · 26/01/2017 07:29

The Enjo MLM seems to focus on 'chemical free' cleaning because of the super-duper cloths they use. However, I get the same effect from my micro-fibre cloths (four for £1 at Poundland). I don't use any products at all in my bathroom Shock and only have washing-up liquid for dishes in my kitchen.

I'll use a bit of washing powder in hot water to do my floors, and that's it.

gin had a giggle at your Airfix MLM "super excited, superglued" Grin.

scut thanks for your detailed description of Avon. Sounds realistic compared to the usual MLM nonsense.

FromIbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 26/01/2017 08:06

"Six figure income creator" = £6.66 (well they are all '6' figures so not a lie)

That's the profit they have left after deducting all their costs.

BSintolerant · 26/01/2017 08:49

I'm sure the number of the beast goes down well with Mormon-run MLMs.

fitgirl26 · 26/01/2017 09:40

I've come to realise that one of the reasons I hate MLMs so much. I was with someone for 8 years who was an NLP Master Practitioner and he used it to try and mould me into the person he wanted me to be! A lot of the things reported from the FL conference reminded me of that.

fitgirl26 · 26/01/2017 09:41

Memo to self - proofread before hitting "post".

Inaclearing, is that supposed to be an advert? Think I will go straight to the website and order some right now. I NEED them in my life!!!!!!!Wink

SuperSange · 26/01/2017 13:26

Can I ask about Avon? I've used their products since I was little, 40+ years. I was a rep for a time and was never asked to sign others up or anything. Just got my brochures and off I went. I'm not a rep now but a good mate is and she doesn't do the recruiting bit either, just puts a book through the door and brings your order a few weeks later. I'm not seeing how it's an MLM?

CantstandmLMs · 26/01/2017 13:47

Here's my sister in laws page "join my team" she's immediately trying to recruit so seems it's going that route

Super I don't use Avon anymore but my mum always did. We had a regular Avon lady for years and years and we enjoyed the products and there was no recruitment. But I guess times have changed.

cozietoesie · 26/01/2017 13:52

It's what I was saying upthread about mixed models - different 'paths'. Why not have an internet search on the name of the firm and add in MLM or 'network marketing'? The results might surprise you.

The notion is that people can join thinking that some firm is something they know and love and become 'exposed' to the other path they could travel if they wanted to.

FromIbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 26/01/2017 15:10

Inaclearing - I think she's shot herself in the foot with that! Shock
Looks more like a warning about how MLMs can seriously damage your health and appearance.

ScuttlbuttHarpy · 26/01/2017 16:30

Avon give you the choice, you don't have to recruit to be a successful Avon lady, providing your earning over the commission range in sales, you earn from it, the more sales, more commission. I know a rep who regularly gets 1k in sales, it takes her 3 days to pack it but she will earn about £250 from that, not including freebies and pc benefits.

Its only sales leaders that recruit, they get a different website, pay a one of 35 quid payment for the benefit and go around recruiting reps, if they get 3 reps in their first 3 campaign they'll get a 75 quid bonus, if they get 5 they get a percentage of their team sales as earnings too and more of a bonus. getting reps is easy, its keeping them that's the problem.

I think the rip off is, you pay for books, the commission isn't high, and to start with its a lot of leg work for little payment.

rosettesforjill · 26/01/2017 18:27

Just wondering if you can help me - I have an opportunity to send some links to my friend explaining why Herbalife is a crock of shite. I have some but what would be your top ones? (Bearing in mind she's going to try to use this to tell me I'm wrong...)

cozietoesie · 26/01/2017 18:43

Personally, my No 1 would be the FTC one. It may be 6 months old but it's still good value.

🙂

cozietoesie · 26/01/2017 18:46

PS - but I think I'd also link her to Botwatch and Timeless Vie.

cozietoesie · 26/01/2017 18:52

PPS - in particular, the following botwatch piece might be useful for you to read and think about, before contacting her.

How to help someone in an MLM

cozietoesie · 27/01/2017 23:49

How did you get on, rosettes? Smile

DoratheExplorer17 · 28/01/2017 10:29

Oh Christ on a bike....someone at work does Herbalife!!!! Constantly banging on about how great the shakes are and how great for health they are. I now realise how annoying I was to people!!!

Going back to the 6 figure earners. That's a hook to get your attention. And yes there are people earning that but I would estimate that it's much less than 1% of the 6000 'active' bots. And by active, they are doing 4CCs every month. There are thousands more who just retail 1-3CCs who are not counted in this number. So my best guess is around 0.1% of people who are currently doing it earn 6 figures or more. And that doesn't include the thousands who have started and given up.

People should not claim to be a coach who coaches people to earn 6 figures, if they've never done it, let alone earn that themselves!
